The Secret Source Automaton Overseer Device is a world boss introduced as part of Genshin Impact's 5.6 update as a minor addition to its Natlan region. This boss is rather annoying in the sense that it somewhat limits that types of units you can bring, but for the most part this boss isn't really all the threatening since all of its attacks are easy to deal with. The main mechanic of this boss is that it requires that you bring Cryo units that can hit with Cryo damage very frequently in order to lower its meter. When the meter is empty, it will lower its own ALL RES to -30% and -70% Cryo RES. Other than that, this boss doesn't really have much else going on. It is important to note that while in its Enhanced state, where the meter is available, if you spend ~20 seconds in Nightsoul Blessing state it will transition into a slightly different phase wherein it will begin orbital beam drops on you instead of a rotating beam. In this state it will have 50% ALL RES instead of 210%. In Abyss, this boss's default state has 380% ALL RES, which then turns into 210% when in its Enhanced phase and rotating beam, and then down to -30% ALLRES and -70% Cryo RES when low on meter as normal.

MANDATORY UNITS:
A Cryo unit that can hit really fast and sustainably like Ayaka, Wriothsley, etc. or Swirl units that can swirl a Cryo unit reliably to deal additional cryo hits.

RECOMMENDED UNITS:
Cryo Traveler (This is a lie I don't know what they do they're not out yet May 5th, 2025)
Kaeya (The only guaranteed Cryo unit)
Lynette (Great Swirler)

Chongyun (Great for infusing fast hitting units like Xiangling's normal attacks)
Diona (Cryo)
Charlotte (Cryo)

Ayaka (Really fast and reliable Cryo hits)
Wriothsley (Fast and reliable Cryo hits)
Skirk
Escoffier (Tailor made for this fight)

MAYBE DON'T BRING THESE UNITS:
None, but just bring your favorite DPS and some Cryo units and you'll be fine.

he Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device is a new field boss releasing in Version 5.6 as well! Similar to the Secret Source Automaton: Configuration Device, this large machinery was created by the dragons of the ancient past. With the Natlan arc ending in Genshin Impact, players will soon enjoy filler versions before the new region becomes available. To reminisce about the Traveler's past journeys, version 5.6 won't only bring characters from Fontaine like Escoffier, Navia, and Wriothesley, but the main quest will also revolve around Mondstadt characters. This is likely a buildup for the future Nod-Krai area, especially when it comes to old friends like Jean, Kaeya, Albedo, and Venti, and future acquaintances like Varka.
