Ell Murphy is behind the decks for this month’s instalment of For The Love Of It, created in partnership with Pioneer DJ.
Series 2 hones in on the hybridity and cross-cultural influence of music today, focusing on the communal ties that tether rising stars in electronic music to diverse scenes and subcultures.
A self-styled “singing selector”, Ell Murphy embraces her own creative freedom but is also empowered by the community around her. A vocalist and producer primarily, the South East Londoner fell into DJing during her time as part of the duo, NITEWORK, where she was vocalling UKG with producer Medlar. When Medlar was unable to make a show at the Old Farm House in Tottenham, Ell ended up behind the decks and so her journey began.
