Ever wondered **how locksmiths open locked doors without damaging the lock?** It's one of the most common questions we get, and in this video, you'll see exactly how a professional locksmith does it.
Locksmiths work around the clock, and many of our after-hours callouts are for people who have accidentally locked themselves out of their homes. In this demonstration, I show how I open a **Lockwood spool pin cylinder** using professional lock picking techniques, gaining entry in under a minute without causing any damage to the lock or the door.
What you're seeing is the result of more than **30 years of locksmith experience**. While it may look quick and easy, professional lock picking is a skill that takes years of training and practice to master. The goal is always to use **non-destructive entry** whenever possible, leaving the lock working exactly as it did before.
When we're finished, there's no damaged door, no broken lock, no need for replacement keys, and no costly repairs. It's as if the lockout never happened.
People also ask, **"How much does a locksmith charge to unlock a door?"** The answer often surprises them. In Australia during 2026, many standard residential lockouts cost **less than AUD $200**, making it far more affordable than replacing a damaged door or lock because someone used the wrong tools or lacked the proper training.
If you're ever locked out, the best decision is to call a **qualified, licensed locksmith** from the start. You're paying for professional knowledge, specialised tools, and the experience to solve the problem quickly and safely—not to create a bigger and more expensive one.
This video demonstrates what a professional lockout service should look like and why experienced locksmiths can often get you back inside in just minutes.

![Lock Picking 3,000 RPM Orbital Lishi VS Combination Cam Lock [1332]
In this video, I take a combination cam lock and show you the lazy way to open it. Instead of picking it properly, I decided to have some fun and go with the easy option – grabbing my 125mm Orbital Hero, also known as the Dewalt 18V grinder, and cutting straight through.
Sometimes locks are meant to be picked, sometimes they’re meant to be decoded… but in this case, it was all about the grinder. Quick, loud, and a bit over the top – but effective!
This video is more about demonstrating the “brute force” approach and having some fun with the process. Of course, in the real world, this isn’t the recommended way to deal with a lock, but it shows just how quickly a grinder can take care of business if you’re not in the mood for delicate lockpicking.
If you’re curious about how long it takes, what it looks like, and how much fun it can be, watch along as I fire up the grinder and open the lock the easy way.
