What is leading to the decline of one and rise of the other? Pleasingly this is a case of logic and performance realities bringing the correct outcome to the fore, something that doesn't always happen! So todays video covers why wax is winning and oil / wet lubes are declining.

Hey everybody, very quick one to advise the awesome article by Escape Collective investigating counterfeit vs genuine chains is out!
EC had me wear life test and tensile strength test a counterfeit dura ace 11spd chain vs a genuine chain, and wow - may i say, well worth the read!
If you get a chance duck over to Escape Collective and check out David Rome's most excellent article. This one is not behind a paywall as it was deemed important this information be available to all.
Support such work and articles by ducking over to have a read, and positive engagement if you have time, that really helps support such tech work and projects in the future.
And of course if you are not an EC member, and if it fits the budget, i highly recommend, EC really is the A team in cycling media.

Alrighty time to vote on the next lubricant test woohoo! i should be completing current voted in test (Dynamic Wander) hopefully by end of next week, so i will tally votes next friday to see what is going up next.
Before that i cover High5 Australia taking our money but not sending us our orders - major bummer - be aware, and if also caught out - start proceedings with your bank to get your hard earned $$ back. Be interesting to know if this is happening in other countries too of just High5 in Aus deciding to suddenly become scammers.

I have been very dubious about this tip since being in this space. It is something i have tested just as as matter of course in my early years of my own personal waxing, and since then and stepping into doing ZFC, it is something i have also discussed with the godfather for low friction chain lubrication - Jason Smith of Friction Facts, as well as in discussions with extremely smart peeps at other major manufacturers of immersive wax products.
In todays video i take you through why i am still extremely dubious that there is anything to this tip, and why doing this does come with some cost for as yet no proven by anyone i am aware of benefit. I also take you through why at this time i disagree with a blog post by silca who conducted for the purposes of that blog post what i feel is a flawed test around wax weight on chains from different wax pot removal temperatures.
Maybe this is a control test i have to do after all. I hadn't thought i would need to put the resources to do so, that we have many other much higher value knowledge tests to conduct - but in light of the silca blog post and also some wax mfg making equipment specifically for cool wax chain removal, and no one else seems likely to spend the resources to prove what they are advocating - maybe it just needs to get done.
Let me know your thoughts my lovely low friction peeps.

Waxed chain - there is nothing to help mud stick to cassette etc so it just washes off with water when you clean bike. Chain - most will wash off outside, but mud has run right through chain - no problem - all you need is boiling water to flush rinse a wax chain - so easy, then dry, re wax, and everything is back to low friction, low wear magnificence with so little time and effort.
I used to use oil / wet lubes. I know what maintenance is easier. So, vastly easier. And better on all fronts. It isn't remotely a contest.
Wax wins by oh so much....

Hopefully votes in by close of business Friday (adelaide Aus time) 30th May so i can hopefully get working on getting test running on the weekend (or have machine ready and lubricant on order if i dont have it on hand).
Drew last row / place start, doh, but more fun for trying to move forward.
Course had some sand / deep soft soil that was quite hard work to power through, harder than it looks!
45 mins race, camera over heated very earl (DJI action 2..... ffs)
Apologies in advance i was in a thorough wording mood apparently today, and had a couple of points from last week to cover thoroughly.

To me personally i think it should be obvious that product claims should be backed by the company making them in the first instance, vs for reasons i do not understand some think it is up to me to first prove them right or wrong for that mfg before i raise a question or doubt as to how a claim may be accurate.
I think the vast majority already understand this - but for those who do not - i hope this helps explain fully, and then we will see where this journey ends up over time - i would love Optimize to be correct for many reasons, it would be a win for us all.
