In response to a current shortage of engineers in the UK, Hitachi Rail have launched a three- year educational programme, in partnership with Primary Engineer, targeted at 5 to 11 year olds. The programme aims to inspire thousands of young people to understand engineering and take up a career in the rail industry.
In July 2019, as a forum to celebrate the pupils engineering skills and achievements, teams from the schools, across the UK, were invited to attend two celebration events to test their train models and showcase their efforts to the Hitachi Rail engineer judges.
