You're such an amazing person, so beautifully sensitive to the love between Hiccup and Toothless and the heart that can be found in their friendship. Your videos stand out with an emphasis on what makes HTTYD so beautiful, with the added dash of your own special style. I'm honored to be your friend and to know you. Your every comment and word of support means a lot! You've been such a foundational member of my journey on YouTube, and one I always admired. Your comments to my flagship video (HTTYD anniversary video) really made my heart sing and make me feel that the things I'm doing here are touching people with the love that brought us together in the first place -- a love for the friendship between a boy and his dragon, and with the glue of God's love which makes it so much more meaningful and special among us.
I know you've been going through some hard times, and I really wanted to choose a song which was meaningful and which showed my support and care for you. It's one of my favorite Christian songs, and it speaks so well on how there is always hope and love on the horizon, no matter the trial or challenge we experience today.

In this video, I wanted to use all the HTTYD material I had -- the film, the sequel teaser trailer, every Riders of Berk episode, the Defenders of Berk trailer, and the shorts Book of Dragons, Legend of the Boneknapper, and Gift of the Night Fury. I guess you can say I was inspired by your own breathtaking tribute "Not Alone" (youtube.com/watch?v=xkyEho5eba0). ;) That video really moved me, and I am ever grateful. I was also inspired to add more white flashes in this video than I ever had before (I think!), as a sort of tribute to your own unique style and namesake Flash!

a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
Tucked away in a system far on the Outer Rim lies a planet in which dwells the nation of Panem. Its citizens, channeled only by news fed by the Capitol, never know the extent of the galactic rebellion far outside its borders, or even the terrors wrought by the Empire. The Capitol has its own problems, keeping its twelve districts in check and its people in bondage.
Luke Skywalker, hero of the Rebellion, finds himself drawn, by fate, by chance, by the Force… to the planet. There he meets Katniss Everdeen and discovers the horror of the Hunger Games. Something inside him tells Luke that change is going to happen here, that a new hope will rise from the victims of the Games itself to defeat the Capitol. Saddled with destiny, he volunteers as tribute and joins Katniss in the 74th Hunger Games. She intrigues him, with her fire, her sadness, her tenacity. She wants no part of his mystic idealism but in the end he breaks her shell with a few shared blows in the training arena.
Love is not what either tribute bargained for. But in the Games they confront their feelings. Katniss learns to smile again and Luke almost forgets the vision he had long before, about destiny, about fate. She finds comfort and hope in his arms.
And then it happens. A gang of violent tributes rush in to attack Katniss. Luke defends her, and his love for her, his hatred of the system that had drained her of so much life forge in him a darkness that ends with the slaying of the remaining tributes by Lukes hand. Katniss is shocked. It is then that Lukes vision becomes clear. It was not him who was to change Panem, but her. She is the hope, the hero, of this rebellion. He has to leave; she begs him not to. But love cannot change the fact that he fears his own hand, that he is still not the Jedi that is impervious to the dark side. And he will not trust her life to what he is capable of.

First off, thanks to Catty and Michelle of the TACWC for making this awesome crossover contest! Theres only one other video on YT featuring these two (that Ive found).
A personal breakthrough… my first major masking/Adobe After Effects extravaganza!! My sis and I made it together, and we had an absolute ball creating such a fine-tooth story out of our clips. They were a beast to work with sometimes (that kiss *shakes fist*), but completely worth it for the moments of squee when we got some clips or VOs to snap together perfectly. And we got to vid Katniss at long last! Theres so many cool parallels between her and Luke, both of them heroes of their rebellions. Making this vid gave us a heap of sudden shippy feels. *heart eyes*

Ive found a reason for me
to change who I used to be

There are now three things in my life so far that Ive hated everything about, but then fell in love with. One was characterization, then a certain writer/now friend, and the third... is Iron Man. Im getting a kick now over what a certain Circle friend of mine will think of this latest live-action vid from me, because I did start a tiff with him about how horrible Tony was, a year ago on his HTTYD Iron Man 3 trailer dub (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5w8a51TwaU). Let me just tell you now, crow has been very much eaten!!
Ive always had a judging eye on arrogance, but last years foray into Doctor Who taught my narrative mind a lot on understanding how someones bark isnt his heart, not all the time, and how someone can be self-centered but not necessarily selfish, and how the shallow side of someone doesnt always define their core. Ive learned to read behind the lines even more, and to understand how two opposite but equally important ideals can exist in one person. It also helps that I went ahead and watched Iron Man 2 and 3 (and rewatched Iron Man 1), and the rest of the Marvel canon (yes, even Agents of SHIELD), and I know now the *writers* (MCUs) mind behind everything, and how that writer is telling a story of responsibility, sacrifice, and change: from a (super)man to a hero, in ones heart.
Tony Starks story is no different, and his relationship with Pepper Potts is one of the most meaningful ships in my fleet. His vulnerability, frustration, and search for identity is in many ways wrapped around Pepper, and his love for her which changed him into the hero he has become. He wants to protect her, and that one climactic moment in IM3 (1:36 in this vid) when he put the suit on her and not himself, well... that was the first part I made of this vid, because the lyrics and scene apply as much to me as to Pepper on Tonys character.
About the vid. Its in widescreen, using my editors (Premiere Pro CC) latest native filters, some downloaded overlays and transition plugins (trying to Vegas my editor, ha!), and features lyric highlights at the end. Im trying on the posh styles of other live action editors Ive been watching lately. Hope this one measures up!
About the making. Its true. Im strapped for time. So what am I doing with a wild Marvel vid? My sis and I have been wrapped in feels for several months now with the Marvel canon... Coulson, Cap, Tony, Loki. This song came along and just screamed Pepperony. Guess I was inspired and had to do it before I lost that drive. Making NF95s birthday video helped push me into my editor. And in case Whisper is listening, I still have your dedication vid in mind. As the time edges on the more perfect I want to make it. Needless to say, I have some big ideas Im hoping to perfect.
