My MAX METERAGE calculation 🧮 Stash Hub 2025-07-22 | How did I decide that 100m is the maximum limit for my stash? 🤔I decided that I don’t want to keep more than a year’s worth of fabric in my stash. I find more than that can feel overwhelming, like a massive to-do list hanging over me 😵💫To work out how much ‘a year’s worth’ of fabric is for me, I did a simple calculation:Projects I sew in a year x Metres used per projectI exported Stash Hub data and did some number crunching to find averages for these figures. Mine were:40 projects per year x 2.5m per project = 100m stash limitOf course, your numbers will be different, and you may decide you’d like to keep several years worth of fabric (or plan just a couple of months ahead). I decided on a year, as my tastes can change over a longer time period, but it’s long enough to allow me to keep a stash of fabrics for different seasons ☀️🍂What do you think of this calculation for helping you decide how much fabric to keep? 3 ways keep my fabric stash UNDER CONTROL! Stash Hub 2025-07-21 | Buying fabric is AMAZING! 😍 But there’s so much out there, it’s too easy to get carried away and wind up with a huge collection that feels overwhelming and actually puts you off sewing 😖I have three limits which I consider before making any fabric purchase:1️⃣ FINANCIAL - I will never buy fabric if I can’t afford it. I have a monthly fabric budget. This really helps me make mindful purchases as I don’t want to waste my budget on things ‘just to make the shipping worth it’ or blow it all at once then miss out on fabrics I really love later in the month2️⃣ SPATIAL - I have a small sewing space in the corner of the living room. I’m lucky to have this PAX cupboard to store my stash. I can’t buy more than will physically fit in this cupboard - there’s literally nowhere else for it to live! Hence why I don’t have any coating fabric in my stash!3️⃣ METERAGE - I don’t want to exceed 100m total meterage of fabric in my stash. I’ll share how I calculated this in a future post. I keep an eye on my stats in Stash Hub to see whether I can justify buying more fabric and motivate me to be more ruthless when destashing.Having 3 different limits may seem excessive, but it allows me flexibility and make sure that my stash works in all areas of my life. Planning my first bag making project with Stash Hub 🌼 Stash Hub 2025-04-25 | I picked up the Vicky May bag pattern from @Studio7t7 at The Stitch Festival and I’ve finally got all the supplies together, ready to get sewing! 🤩A bag with hardware is on my #MakeNine2025 (I’m currently 0/9 🥴) and also on my sewing bucket list, so I need to just give it a go! I picked up some great bag making tips at the @studio7t7 bag making challenge this week, so I’m even more prepared now 🪡Of course, I have to plan my project in Stash Hub 😉 I started off by adding a new Notion Type. Notion Type is super customisable, so it’s great for keeping a record of anything you like. Here I create ‘Bag Hardware’ as a Notion Type, but you could also create your own custom Notion Type for kits, embroidery floss, sewing machine feet - anything you need to keep track of 👀I’ve got some beautiful light gold hardware for my bag - how cute are the Daisy Zipper Pulls 😍 I added everything to Stash Hub, then it was project planning time! This super cool feature allows you to import all the info about a fabric or sewing pattern from the online listing into your Stash Hub. Not having to type out all the details or take your own photos saves so much time!Join me as I upload my latest fabric purchase to Stash Hub using Magic Input. I was lucky enough to snap this fabric up from a destash, which meant I didn’t have an online listing. With the help of Google Lens, I was able to find the exact same fabric for sale online. Then, I copied and pasted the URL into Stash Hub, chose the photos I wanted and added any extra details I wanted. Her fabric collection had reached a point where it had become overwhelming and she didn't know where to start. We helped her choose which fabrics to destash, then set up our measuring-cataloguing-folding production line. This was an efficient way to get everything catalogued in Stash Hub and accessibly stored in Natalie's beautiful glass fronted cabinet. During our reflections, Natalie shared that she's now feeling much more positive about her fabric collection and more inspired to sew.Natalie's top tips for organising your fabric stash: 1.
