It would be adequate for business production or an at-home hobbyist. Coupled with the HTP MicroCut 875SC v2 you will be able to create the most amazing products and projects. I am absolutely blown away by the fact that I can now cut up to 1/2 in steel in my basement and use it for 100's of projects. I'm not the most creative person compared to others I've seen on Instagram making entire businesses around this tool. When the best tool you own is a Plasma CNC, every solution to every problem is a Plasma CNC.This is my second Plasma CNC. The first... The Langmuir Crossfire. It really was more than I could ever need in my current shop, but I have a tool problem. Really it's an everything problem. If they create a better version, I want that version. iPhone, computer, TV, Car it doesn't matter. I want the better version. That does not mean I get the better version. This time I did. Here is why. I wanted THC. Torch Height Control. I never really had issues that this would have been a huge factor, but I always anticipated that project where it would make a difference. I tend to babysit the job as it is running. If something pops up, I move it before it's an issue. Second, I wanted a bigger workspace. In reality, if I had a 60x40 shop with overhead crane, this might be too small, but like most people, that's not the case. I had to move copious amounts of everything out of my current space to make this 4x3 a possibility. I am so glad I did. I'm now into my 5th project although I have only filmed 2. This one is the first. If you weld, this is an amazing compliment to that skill. You will have a never-ending stream of projects or products that you can create with this tool. DIY DRILL POWERED TONGUE JACK FOR A TRAILER ManCraftingTM 2020-09-26 | I had an idea because I don't like using a hand crank to raise and lower jacks, I wanted to make them powered. I have seen powered systems for the tongue jack, but that didn't address the 4 other jacks that are used to stabilize the trailer once in place. I decided a DIY battery-powered impact driver drill might just be the solution for raising and lowering the tongue jack and the other jacks. All will use a 3/4 Impact Bit. I purchased a Ridged initially and it worked great on the jacks for the back of the trailer that were essentially just putting pressure on the bottom to keep it from moving. They really weren't lifting any weight. I never had a chance to use it on the front, because when I saw the Milwaukee on sale, I jumped on it and returned the Ridgid. The Milwaukee M18 had about double the ft-lbs of torque and more is better right? INDUSTRIAL STYLE LIVE EDGE DESK ManCraftingTM 2020-09-08 | Save $100 on the Langmuir Crossfire Pro, Crossfire XL, and original with Discount Code: ManCraftingDue to the fact that there are 3 of us looking for desk space almost full time here in the home, it became necessary to add to the places where computer work could be done. So my youngest was using a desk I got for free at a garage sale in 1980. I know this because that desk is the first piece of furniture I've refinished. I found it for free between 8th and 9th Grade and there are photo's somewhere of me sanding, staining, and applying lacquer to it after I broke my leg on Labor Day of 1980. I was in the cast as I was redoing this desk. Well, since the desk was so old it was free in 1980, that would officially make it an antique. l can't believe I'm that old, or that exactly 40 years since the day I wrecked a Yamaha Enduro 250 and broke my leg I'm writing about it. I didn't even make the connection until this very moment. Well, antiques weren't exactly designed with the students that would be using computers in 2020 in mind. It would probably still work for someone who is lefthanded, but it was very awkward for a righty. All of that tangent out of the way, I built with the help of my wife and daughter and some design input from my good friend Greg @themakerlife on Instagram, an Industrial style live edge desk. The top I am pretty sure is Red Oak that I got from a local tree removal service owner who also happened to own a Wood Miser and had a pile of slabs about every 10ft the majority of his backyard which was about 2 acres. He also lives about one mile from me. I also had stored at a friend's garage @henicomachineworks (also Instagram) some material that he and I pulled out of a crawl space over a year ago that worked amazingly for this project. I wanted some square or rectangle tube and we just happened to have some 3x5 inch with 1/8 inch wall tubbing. I think we had 4 - 48-inch tubes. This created some design issues. I came up with a Z pattern leg and initially, I wanted to do all three in the same orientation. Before I started cutting though, I sent handwritten plans to my friend Greg (mentioned earlier) to ensure I had the angles right. He's a Fusion 360 wizard and whipped something up in minutes. I asked him to play around with the orientation and placement a little because in my hand-drawn version the legs just overwhelmed the slab. It just wasn't working. He sent a few renderings in Fusion that looked exactly like the finished product you see here and I couldn't be happier. In fact, there is some squabbling in the house over where the desk goes once my daughter is out of the house. Learning to Weld Better/Icosahedron Dice ManCraftingTM 2020-07-11 | I've been welding thicker metals without much issue, but every time I try to do more than spot weld thinner materials I always struggle. I picked up a dozen practice 20 sided Dice aka Icosahedron Dice from WeldItYourselfKits.com aka 42Fab.com earlier this year to work on that skill. There is a total of 60 inches of welding practice in each dice. Slowly I'm improving and learning to weld better. Besides having excellent equipment to weld with and training, time practicing is what it takes to get better. If your learning hopefully you can find a kit that works for you on the website. He is always here to lend a hand when I need it. If you haven't seen his work on Instagram, do yourself a favor and check it out. We made this modification to my Langmuir Pro this week to prevent potential EMI issues caused by an SMT inductor that is ironically intended to act as a trap for EMI emitted from the Crossfire Pro Board. By removing it and putting in place a solder bridge between the two contact points EMI interference from outside has been eliminated in tests and several owners who have taken the time to make this modification. It took us about 45 minutes to pull it apart make the change and put it all back together. That included filming and moving cameras etc. So I'm guessing someone skilled could do it in under 30 minutes and someone with no experience could fumble through in about an hour. This fix is specifically for Batch 1 and 2 owners. This modification will be in place with all future orders and will not be required. The new boards will have a Zero Ohm resistor in place of the inductor. The inductor is a little rectangle while resistors are cylindrical. There is no need to do anything if you see the resistor in L1. It's important to mention, this is not a Langmuir issue. Many Plasma CNC Tables battle EMI issues I found out as I was researching this issue. Grounding bus bars, grounding rods, and many other additional features have been added and sold aftermarket to deal with this issue. The first was to clean everything and empty the old water/Borax solution. It worked. Initially, but as the water table lost water to evaporation, the Borax started crystalizing on the table blades. It then allowed the blades and anything on the bottom of the table to begin rusting. If that wasn't bad enough the splash from the cutting would leave borax based water spots all over the gantry and plasma torch ultimately fouling up the consumables. It was workable but obviously not ideal. I was looking for another option and although I was aware of Plasma table concentrates, I always thought they would be too expensive to use. As it turns out, the cost per table change is only about $15. So much cheaper than I expected. Based on my latest experience of cleaning up the table it's money well spent. In addition to the new fluid, I wanted to make the process of draining the table a little easier. In order to do that I needed to put dimples in the bottom of the water table where the drain is, think about your kitchen sink. The lowest point is where the drain is. This is what I wanted to do. I picked up a hydraulic hole punch set as well as some dimple dies. I'll add links to what I have as well as at least one other option below. I purchased the Langmuir Crossfire Pro on the first round of the Presale. In the first few minutes. I didn't want to miss out. Then once I built it, I saw an Instagram post with the exact same HTP Plasma cutter I had. He had made a shelf bracket to store his Plasma Cutter up off the floor on the wall. I loved the idea since real estate in a small shop is of high value. I sent @ch0wpay a message and he generously sent me the file. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention to the files and cut the bracket out of 1/8 inch material. They looked great, but I had no way to bend them. Ultimately I went with slightly thinner material and added relief cuts to make the shelf brackets work with the tools I had available. It got me thinking though. I was limiting the types of projects I could do with the CNC if I had no way to continue the metal fabrication process beyond the cut. I already had a 20 Ton Press from Harbor Freight. What could I add to it to bend heavier material? Fortunately, I was already familiar with swagoffroad.com having purchased a table for my Portaband Metal Bandsaw last year. So I looked them up and decided on the DIY Heavy Duty Finger Brake Kit. I don't have a lot of metal Bending Experience. Well, that's an understatement. I have next to none. Even the light duty brake I have has seen even lighter duty. That said, I can see the need and I generally figure stuff out eventually. Even if it takes a few fails to get there. Truck Cap T Handle Replacement ManCraftingTM 2020-01-25 | In this video, I do a quick Truck Cap T Handle replacement. This is a simple job that most people can do in 5 minutes if they have the tools on hand. The only tools needed are either a Phillips head screwdriver or an S2 square head screwdriver. I suppose it's possible that some have another type of screw but in my case, I removed the S2 screws and the replacement handle had Phillips head. Additionally, the screw that holds the interior handle on is 5/16 in. head. I was able to use my 11/1 Screwdriver for every part of this except removing the interior handle. It needed to be pried off. For this, I used a 3/4 wrench, but I could have used the screwdriver and a block of wood. How to Strip Powdercoating and Duracoating at Home! Sometimes products work sometimes they don't. This product worked really well both on the tumblers from YETI that are Duracoated and later I tried a 2 layer Powdercoated tumbler. Effortless I would say. So happy with you this turned out. I do like how clean the stripper stays with the Duracoat. With the powder coated cup it sort of dissolved the powder making the remover the color of the powder. It still removed it all, just a little messier. RotoBoss Rotary Attachment Review ManCraftingTM 2019-12-29 | Jason at JerCustom Designs sent me one of his RotoBoss Roller Rotaries for testing and review. He said to "Make it Fail" He wants to put out a rotary that works for as many possible containers as possible. I tried. I really did. It just didn't happen. This is the most versatile roller rotary that I have been able to find on the market today. I have used 4 Roller Rotaries total including 3 from Boss Lasers. This includes their newest Chuck/Roller Rotary combo they call the BossMod. While it was built like a tank, I found it cumbersome (29lbs) and lacking several features that a $1,300 Rotary should have standard. The Roller Rotary and the Chuck Rotary that I got with my 1630 were adequate but required several upgrades or some fine Redneck Engineering to get good results consistently. My Rotary like many others these days are made from lightweight materials such as 3D printed parts and cast acrylic. I quoted this because after 1 month of use and over 140 cups etched including over a dozen of the most challenging items I could find, I could not find an item it couldn't hold securely. I only had one job with failure and it was a product issue and totally could have been prevented had I noticed that there were 2 different sizes of the same item.
