Note: this video has no sound. Legendary type designer (Palatino, Optima, Zapf Dingbats) and typographer Hermann Zapf takes other legend, typographer and printer Jack Stauffacher on a tour of his exhibition "Hermann Zapf: calligrapher, type-designer and typographer", at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 1960. At the time, Jack Stauffacher was teaching at the New Laboratory Press, established by Porter Garnett at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. Two other gentlemen appear briefly in the film, originally made for a television program, one of them is possibly Leon Arkus, the director of the museum. Zapf (b. 1918) lives in Darmstadt, Germany. Stauffacher (b. 1920) lives in Tiburon, California, and takes the ferry a couple of times a week to work at his Greenwood Press in San Francisco. Author and exact date unknown.
