To celebrate reaching 40,000 orders, we are looking back on how we got there. Here is part 2 in a series of 4 short stories from Founder, Kate Parker 👇️
"Work Life Balance, 2021 🫶
After a while it became apparent that working from home wasn't feasible anymore. Our 2 bed cottage looked like a box fort and we couldn't get in the front door when stock arrived. I looked locally for a business premises so that I could take work out of the home and I found a nice little place down the road. Unfortunately, it was down a very small one way street, with a gravel drive which made deliveries a nightmare! But it was exciting and I really enjoyed making it our first HQ.
Business was growing fast, we were doing about 20 orders per day now. I couldn't do everything by myself anymore so Matt then left his full-time job as a teacher to come on full time. We had a lot of fun, and luckily I had him because things were very difficult around the birth of our son and I had to spend time in hospital. The difficulty with a small business is you do everything yourself, so if you are ill then there is no one to fall back on. New year 2022 we had Exmoors arriving for the first time, and matt was on his own with me heavily pregnant in hospital. We both worked through it. Matt on his own packing hundreds of orders in the warehouse. Me doing customer service and admin from my hospital bed. They were difficult times but we did it together."
