Using the rich trove of information contained in the digital Helen Keller Archive (afb.org/HelenKellerArchive), the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) has created lesson plans that teach middle and high school students about using digital and physical archives and the difference between primary and secondary sources and how to use them.
In Lesson 1, students are taught to navigate a digital archive by browsing and performing effective keyword searches. Through this process, students learn how to use the Helen Keller Archive. They also learn the value of preserving information.
