Minnesota lakes have not been safe places to drive on this winter. Even though we could see some of the coldest temperatures of the season over the next couple of days, authorities are warning that won't do much to make the ice safer.
Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek put out that warning Wednesday at Lake Minnetonka, where sheriff's deputies and Minneapolis firefighters were doing ice rescue training. He says his deputies have had to pull several people out of frigid lakes each week this winter after falling through the ice.
