Hello good listeners. Surprisingly, this is the first upload of the year. I have not been very efficient with this whole "music composing" process.
Okay so, here's me thinking out loud:
I often find myself thinking of a certain something when composing music. Sometimes it's a place, often times it's a character. Whatever it is, I compose to try and make those two ideas match.
This time I imagine a woman named Akane, meaning deep red, brilliant red, something along those lines. I jot down loads of adjectives, maybe make a sketch of her. She's competitive, aggressive, adamant, passionate, beautiful. Like fire. Woo! It all connects. Basically a personification of what I see the color "red" to be.
Oh, and from looking back at my notes, this one seems to be influenced by a load of other songs, such as:
- Hartmann's Youkai Girl (Touhou 11)
- Heian Alien (Touhou 12)
- Cutting off the Dark Ambitions (Tales of Vesperia)

Why hello, there, YouTube. It's been a while. A loooooong while. Once again, I've composed this song way earlier in the year, but took months to finally produce it. It's become a habit of mine.
What *is* transcendence? Apparently, the existence beyond the physical level and range of human experiences. One can interpret the song's mood in different ways; the hero's journey, a war's aftermath, or one's perception of beautiful scenery. Nevertheless, I hope this little tune is an enjoyable aural experience to you.
P.S. This was somewhat inspired by the Guild Wars 2 login theme. Somehow.

Found the unfinished draft of this song on Sunday, so I decided to finish it up.
I honestly can't pinpoint the genre of this one. It's definitely one of the more artsy ones, kind of like "Shadow Beneath the Earth's Crust", but with no jazz breakout or looping ending. It's heavily inspired by Touhou opening and ending themes, which explains the relaxing tone. There's also absolutely no percussion in the song; the piano kind of takes its place.
Also, more violin solos. I'll try to highlight another instrument next time TT_TT

Behold, more underground indie music. It's another one of those pieces that I made two years ago and thought, "Hey, I can make a better version of that now!" This piece is inspired by a few random characters, namely Legretta the Quick (Tales of the Abyss) and Sakuya Izayoi (Touhou). I find it easy to make music when thinking of character personality.
I'm finding it difficult to make original pieces now, though. Pumping out music constantly is easy, but worth the challenge.

Hey, it's summer break! I should probably be getting things done, with the right motivation.
Currently, this is kind of a filler song. The original song is so short, it's difficult to extend it to 4 minutes, which is the usual length of my arrangements. Anyway, this one has a similar vibe to my "Fires of Houkai" arrangement, less emphasis on timpani, more on melody.

Since this track was created in Milkytracker, MAM isn't used. I didn't want to show the piano, like last time (in Journey), since it looks really messed up. But I'm sure you can't understand how tracking works, either...
Erm... enjoy the song!

Kind of a filler song, really. I haven't been doing anything for a while. So I did this. I don't even consider the two to be the same song.
I didn't end up putting MIDI animation for this one mostly because it's such a short song.
lol i lied... It's because I had to finish this in such a short amount of time.
Obviously, it's originally a Portal 2 song, I don't own that, but I own these arrangements, so on and so forth. If that wasn't clear enough.

Oh hey, it's something that isn't MIDI!
I've always wanted to try something like this. Chiptunes - my next favorite genre after orchestra and jazz. I'm getting used to all the waveforms and samples, though, so this piece is really short. It's also an excerpt to yet another orchestra piece, previewed in the first few seconds.

I suppose this is my 2nd Touhou arrangement! I've always wanted to do another jazz composition since "The Shadow Beneath the Earth's Crust," so this is what I've come up with! ^^ To be honest, it's one of my favorite arrangements so far, not just because I love jazz, but because it's so upbeat.

I've been having an unnecessary amount of editing in my videos lately! See that neat little ending splash screen? I swear, I'm probably more proud of myself than I should be.
That aside, I wanted to try something that didn't have a distinct song structure to it, unlike "Firefly". This one's totally random. Even I don't understand it. Very classy though.
Oh, and this song is recent for once.

Apparently, I still have a lot of old songs in reserve. This one was made back in May 2011, but of course, tweaked here and there to make sure it still sounds decent.
This one's more singable than others, considering the chorus-verse format. Of course, the voices are replaced with violins because my voice is sick and unhealthy. Oh, and there aren't any lyrics, either. There will be, someday. (Can't guarantee!)
Oh, and in speaking of fireflies, I did a bit of text painting! (Is that the right term?) Hear those annoyingly high-pitched orchestral harps? Yep, they're supposed to resemble the sparkling lights of fireflies. And then... darkness! :)

My previous rendition of this song was -6 halfsteps compared to the original, so I thought I should upload the original key just for the heck of it.
I also changed the main voice instrument to Pad 7 (halo) because the cello was WAY too delayed in the beginning of its notes and it bugged me.

This one was made as a request from a friend for a singing contest. She requested a version 3 half-steps higher than the original, but I figured it'd make more sense to upload the original here on YouTube.
I'm also trying a new animation this time! I personally think it's better because it brings your attention more to the center of the video, not just to the right.
Also, I know there are a few lagging areas, but doesn't the recording look a lot smoother now? Hopefully? Yes? No? Maybe so???

I present to you: a combination of guitars, choir, strings, and good ol' church organs. I initially wanted to go for the usual sort of 'rock' that I've done with "Nightmare of an Endless Waltz" and "Dark Souls". But then I realized... y'know what, this was a song inspired by a demonic character, what am I thinking? So I changed things up a bit. Maybe... drastically, even.
But I'd never solely focus on a full-on metal song... it's not very "RuzeReine" huh? :)
FUN FACT: I started this re-arrangement back in January of this year, but my computer had some problems, and the latest saved file on this computer was deleted. Luckily, I still had the intro to the song on my laptop. Hooray for backup files.

Finally, I've done a proper arrangement on a Touhou song! I even cut into my Diablo 3 time just to finish this off, because it's just so fun~
I literally had no plans when making this one (I didn't even listen to any other arrangements!)... but it turned out to be quite nice... there's basically no structure, though. Breakin' all the rules here. On another note, how do flames dance? I kind of made the structure of this song based on flames, because they're so unpredictable... also, who knew that you could modify low timpani to make 'em sound like heartbeats?
Of course, I do not own the original song (Fires of Houkai), it's composed by ZUN. This was only made for fun.

This MIDI arrangement was not meant for accuracy or money or whatever silly shiz like that. In fact, I made this quaint little arrangement for a choir solo performance at my school. Seeing that there is no existing instrumental (that I could find) I made one for myself. That also explains the lowering of the key because of my strange voice.
lol IDK why I made the cello the voice instrument. Admittedly I don't think it's my strongest piece though... the beginning is a bit weak, but the last chorus is strong enough.
This song is originally by Halestorm (who are amazing, by the way). Original song here:

Was too lazy to think of a better name. Scouted around my room, found Dark Souls in my XBOX 360 section, and the rest is history.
It's one of those crazy songs again. It's a style I enjoy - orchestra in the beginning, and a very strong buildup to follow, usually rock. It's just a very video-game style of things.

If you consider this song to be too loud, well too bad, I've already edited it over like... twice, now. Proof that this song is older than the rest because I don't know how to control MIDI velocity. -_-
It is, however, the most heavily-guitar based one, for now, at least.

Probably the only one of my songs which sounds remotely pop-like (J-Pop, at least). I suppose it's quite catchy. It's also the very first song that I've experimented with some proper percussion. My really old stuff had some crappy percussion, really. Ugh. That also means that this song is a bit old now... older than Fallen Angel.
(Also, this song makes a cheeky little comeback in one of my other songs... teehee.)

My second attempt at making orchestral MIDI. There once existed a first version of the same song, but I decided that simply wasn't good enough so I've recreated it. Maybe I'll upload that someday. Someday...
After seeing so many orchestral pieces from my school's concerts I finally decided to making a fancy little tune myself. I may or may not have put in and scrambled a different amount of emotions in this one. I guess there's a little bit of a musical war, huh?

A fairly old song (about 6 months-ish old now) but still ranks as one of my favorites. It's simple when compared to something like Ancient Tales. But I don't necessarily think it's the instruments that make this song what it is - it's that chorus.
(The cello at the end is quite nice, though...)

My very first jazzy experiment, and interestingly enough, fused with a string ensemble. It's a peculiar combination, but I honestly think it turned out to be quite fluid.
