Dr. Mitsumoto, MD, DSc is a Wesley J. Howe Professor of Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the former Director of the MDA/ALS Clinical Research Center since 1999. In 1968, he graduated from Toho University School of Medicine in Tokyo. From 1972, he pursued further medical and neurology training at Johns Hopkins University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, and Tufts University. In 1983, he became the Director of the Neuromuscular Section and ALS Center at Cleveland Clinic. His career has focused on patient care and management, end-of-life issues, numerous clinical trials, biomarker development, and multisite epidemiological studies.
