Haru was very scared of Ellie, and would growl and snap at her when she came close. We wanted them to be friends, so Haru needed a bit of an attitude adjustment. We muzzled Haru for about 15 minutes while Ellie ran around trying to get him to play. He was frustrated that he couldn't bite her.
He eventually calmed down and the muzzle came off. He still didn't want her to be in his yard. I then started playing chase with him, and Ellie ran along too. In less than a minute he figured out that she wasn't a threat, and started playing with her!
Haru still needs more work (he's possessive of food and toys), but this is a huge step in the right direction! Ellie will grow to almost 3 times Haru's size, hopefully this will also help Haru get over his fear of big dogs.
