After some practicing in a test world I have made up a plan for how to fight the dragon. I haven't done this in a long time in vanilla! But first things first - we have to find a Stronghold, and before that we need plenty of Ender Pearls. Never farm them without Looting! I only had Looting II, but it sure helps.
To avoid spamming Eye of Enders too often, I used a simple triangulation app which is easy to use. [Link has been removed by YT]
I did a first throw close to the base, but I messed things up by looking at wrong numbers so I did things all over again starting from a new location.
x: -1128 z: 312
Throw hovered at angle 113.6
And from a new second location, standing at x: -1686 z: 341 I got the angle 173.2
This gives the calculated Stronghold position of x: -1720 z: 53
I was lucky and the Stronghold was quite easy to traverse. So now when we know where to go, all I need is some equipment and gear. Slow fall potions is new to me but I think it can be worth having it! So how to spawn Phantoms? Well, that was new for me as well, but the Glass house was a simple way to safely spawn them.
At the time of writing this, all I want is a Ghast Tear to get some Regeneration Potions. After that I should be ready to fight the Ender Dragon, look forward to that video within short!
