What an absurdly weird experience.

I picked this level up in June 2022 to play alongside a few friends as a "pact". We all wanted to beat it and call it easier than Kenos as a joke but none of us followed through with it at the time.

I tried coming back to it multiple times in the last 15 months but I always dropped it after a couple of days because of how boring it was to play every single time. Because I recently got the SayoDevice, and with 2.2 as close as ever, I figured it would be funny to try this out again, and I am SO glad I did.

I de-rusted extremely fast and got a new best of 88% the day after (after having 78%x4 as my best for over a year). I knew from here I had to commit and not let this level overcome me once again. Fast forward to today, and I finally beat it.

This level is just plain unfun. It's extremely easy to learn which gave me a false sense of hope that I would be able to knock it out fast, but clearly, I was wrong, and why wouldn't I be? Every part (minus like two of them) feels either incredibly boring or unfair, most notably the first 30% being practically free (except the dumb click at 18%), the ball at the drop being unforgiving, 78% and 80% being two of the worst chokepoints of all time (I only died at 80% once despite getting their over 10 times I'm so lucky), and the ending being extremely dysfunctional (94% and 96%). My mental was truly tested when I was playing from the beginning.

Literally the only part I enjoyed was the ship at 50%, which is wild considering it's one of the hardest parts of the level. It's oddly very satisfying and I love ship gameplay that makes me feel awesome while playing it.

Varium was absolutely correct when he said Hard Machine is very deceiving. Even though I think it is easier than what the Demon List says, it is NOT as easy to complete as it looks on the outside. Be careful if you decide to try it out.
