Halo: Campaign Evolved has been out for a few weeks now, and after finally spending some real time with the campaign on Heroic difficulty, I’m sharing my honest first impressions of this modernized take on Halo: Combat Evolved. Xbox gave me the code, and as someone who grew up playing Halo, went through the Halo 2 and Halo 3 era, and even earned the original 1,000 Gamerscore in Halo 3, I’ve been having an absolute blast with Campaign Evolved despite a few noticeable issues. In this video, we’re talking about the new third-person mode, sprinting, Halo 2 weapons like the Battle Rifle and SMG, updated enemy AI and difficulty following the latest patch, co-op, visual upgrades, PC performance, customization, the lack of traditional PvP multiplayer, some disappointing changes to classic campaign moments, and whether Halo: Campaign Evolved is actually worth playing in 2026. While it definitely isn’t meant to replace the original Halo CE, the quality-of-life improvements make this one of the most interesting ways to revisit Master Chief’s original adventure 25 years later.
