Hey everyone! We’re back once again with ANOTHER Cortana Room conquered, this time we reach Cortana on the level “The Storm”.
First a little background on the room if you haven’t seen a Cortana Room video before. On every level that contains, what we call “Cortana Moments”, you know those annoying moments when Cortana flashes on the screen? Every time Cortana appears during those moments the game needs to spawn a Cortana biped, film angles of her, then the game overlays those angles onto your screen. So when designing the game Bungie hid her biped in black boxes for these moments on all the levels that she appears on. We found the exact box locations through a mixture of theater mode and a BSP viewer called Adjutant. Once we made this discovery we set out to reach all these Cortana Rooms.
For the Storm room specifically we used some clever Deployable Cover clipping to skip some triggers, manipulated the Drone Phantom, maneuvered the phantom for about an hour, setup a few other meticulous steps, did two simultaneous DC clips and boom we got into the room and got to view Cortana’s biped.
Like I mentioned before, there are at least one of these rooms on every level that contains a “Cortana Moment” so there are 6 rooms spread across 6 different levels in. So that means, four Cortana Rooms down, two to go…
