Unique Piano Bench Build | Yew Wood Treeline 2021-08-26 | This is how I build a simple but unique piano bench made out of yew wood (Taxus Baccata). Yew is a beautiful species to work with as well as to look at. The stark contrast between the sapwood and the heartwood, the tight grain pattern, and the unique color make this piano bench one of a kind. The whole bench is made from a single trunk. Building a Small Roubo-Style Oak Workbench | Project Overview Treeline 2021-04-24 | In this series, I show you how I made a small Roubo-style workbench from solid oak. This video covers the final result of the project. This workbench is based on a traditional Roubo design. The bench is relatively small (86 cm high, 133 cm wide, and 47 cm deep), but due to the use of solid European oak very sturdy. I have installed one vise, but due to the design of the bench, an additional vice can be installed in the future. The top is covered with over 40 dog holes created using the UJK Parf system. The casters can easily be retracted and make the workbench very easy to move, which is critical in my situation. A plywood cabinet stores all my tools, but can be replaced when desired. Building a Small Roubo-Style Oak Workbench | Part 3: Cabinet & Finish Treeline 2021-04-17 | In this series, I show you how I made a small Roubo-style workbench from solid oak. In part 3, we focus on building the cabinet and finishing the workbench. To store tools I made a cabinet that houses underneath the workbench. The cabinet is made from plywood and assembled using pocket hole screws, to be able to disassemble the cabinet for future upgrades. The top of the workbench is provided with over 40 20 mm holes, created using the UJK Parf Guide System (PGS). This allows to use of 19 and 20 mm accessories, such as bench pups, stop blocks, and clamps. The bench is finished using Osmo Hardwax Oil (3065), and the cabinet is painted black. Building a Small Roubo-Style Oak Workbench | Part 2: Finalise Exterior Treeline 2021-04-13 | In this series, I show you how I made a small Roubo-style workbench from solid oak. In part 2, we focus on the finishing of the exterior. To finish the top of the workbench, mitered 12.5 cm planks are attached to form a skirt around the top itself. This gives the workbench a solid look, but the main reason for this choice is to facilitate the vice (HV515). The vice is screwed to the bottom of the overhanging top. Then holes for the vice screw and rails are drilled in the 12.5 cm skirt, and two 12.5 cm wide planks are used as a vice clamp. The excess of the legs and skirts are planed and the whole top is sanded flush. To be able to move the bench around the house, I also installed retractable casters which can easily fold over when the table is stationary. Building a Small Roubo-Style Oak Workbench | Part 1: Base Assembly Treeline 2021-04-11 | In this series, I show you how I made a small Roubo-style workbench from solid oak. In part 1, we focus on the assembly of the base. The bench is constructed from pre-surfaced European oak planks (12.5 x 2 cm) and boards (17.5 x 6 cm). I have chosen oak due to its high density, making this rather small workbench (86 cm high, 133 cm wide, and 47 cm deep) still very heavy and sturdy (~80 kg). Its design is based on the traditional Roubo workbench. The top is laminated using two 6 cm thick boards and smaller planks to facilitate the leg joinery. The legs consist of three 12.5 cm wide planks which, together with the top, join as shown in this video of David Barron (youtube.com/watch?v=cBPxhIjJy7o). The stretchers are connected to the legs using through mortice and tenon joints and dowels.
