I Quit My iOS Dev Job for Full-Time YouTube
updated
WWDC 2024 introduced awesome new additions to SwiftUI in iOS 18. In this video I highlight a few of my favorites including Mesh Gradients, zoom transitions in NavigationStacks, SF Symbols 6 and the new animations, floating TabView and custom sheet sizes on iPadOS, and date reference Text formatting.
I can't wait to implement all these new changes into my apps.

In this video I walk you through building a basic visionOS app that has 3D content in a Window, Volume and Immersive Space. I show you various ways to get 3D content and how you can edit and combine assets in Spline to make them your own before exporting them to SwiftUI code to use in Xcode and your visionOS apps.
Spline is a no-code workflow to create 3D content for the Apple Ecosystem. It's an easy way to get 3D content into your iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS apps by exporting SwiftUI code you can copy and paste into Xcode.
Spline's metal-based renderer takes advantage of all the graphics acceleration on Apple devices to maintain the best performance.
Learning to work with 3D designs will be important for iOS developers moving forward into the world of spatial computing on the Apple Vision Pro.

App icons for visionOS (Apple Vision Pro) have a 3D parallax effect that is triggered when you look at the icon. This requires the developer to create their app icon for visionOS in three distinct layers. In this video I demonstrate how to do that and show you some issues I ran into with sizing, shadows and gradients in my app icon. I also show you how to use Apple's Parallax Previewer app to iterate on your app icon designs.

RealityKit goes hand in hand with ARKit to make your augmented reality experiences as realistic as possible on iPhone, iPad and Apple Vision Pro. RealityKit handles things like realistic lighting and shadows, motion blur and depth of field. It also takes care of real work physics and collision detection as well as animations.
You can even capture your own 3D objects using Object Capture to use in your augmented reality experiences.

In this video I show you how to create a Swift Date object from DateComponents and use those dates to demonstrate a few different calculations. I show you how to add or subtracts dates from each other, how to get the time interval between two dates and how to check if two dates are in the same time period. Swift's Calendar object is what makes this all relatively simple for us developers.

iOS 17 introduces TipKit which is a framework to show helpful tooltips to your users to guide them through your app. In this video I demonstrate how to set up a basic popover tip and then we create an inline TipView with specific rules to determine exactly when to show this tip. This is done by creating events and then donating them based on user behavior.

You can work from an existing design template if you like, but you can use the Footer View to design your paywall however you like, but then bring in RevenueCat to handle the complex business logic of making the subscription purchase.
RevenueCat's paywalls are rendered natively in SwiftUI so you still get that native Apple look and feel even from a remote paywall. You can also use Offering Metadata to make changes and A/B tests on your own custom paywall.

This is an introduction to SwiftData new in iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma. SwiftData was introduced at WWDC 2023 and is the successor to Core Data. SwiftData is a way to persist your app's data locally on device or in iCloud to sync between devices. This video introduces you to the basic concepts like @Model, containers, context, fetch, create, update, and delete.
