Orion Dr. Yamba - Footpath Needed. Ken Newell 2021-04-30 | The Clarence Valley Council (CVC) need to wake up to themselves and construct a footpath along Orion Drive between Yamba Road and the Palm Lakes resort village.Trying to walk along here, even in dry weather, is an occupational hazard; tree roots create tripping points, when it rains it becomes muddy and people are forced to take the risk of walking on the edge of the road....which is a hazard in itself. One man in a mobility scooter was hit and ended up in hospital with severe injuries.So how about it, CVC? A small fortune has been spent (by the NSW government) on three roundabouts along Yamba Road......roundabouts which were not required and in locations where traffic control in busy periods would have been better handled by traffic lights.This footpath IS required and IS wanted.Get your act together!

Road Trip - Yamba to Canberra via Inland Route Ken Newell 2015-10-25 | This video is in HD1080 and is approximately 26 minutes in length.It covers highlights of the (approx) 1100 kilometre trip - which was made over two days and in beautiful Spring weather - from Yamba, on the far-north coast of NSW, to Canberra via the inland route - Grafton, Nymboida, Ebor, Armidale, Tamworth, Gilgandra, Coonabarabran, Dubbo, Cowra - and was undertaken in October 2015.The highways were excellent - from the run near Ebor on Waterfall Way to to Armidale and then all the way through to Molong on the New England, Oxley, Newell and Mitchell Highways; very enjoyable, with good-quality roads and low traffic numbers.Between Coonabarabran and Dubbo the road has a 110 kph posted limit - the first I had come across on a non-divided highway.This trip was a great experience and I will certainly use this route to travel to Sydney and/or Canberra again in preference to the Pacific Highway - at least until 2019, when the duplication between Port Macquarie and Ballina is completed.I hope that you enjoy the video and, if you have never travelled these roads before, that you try them for yourselves.I am sure that you will not be disappointed.====================Technical stuff:The video was recorded on a Panasonic Lumix TZ40 mounted on a multi-angle bracket affixed to the inside of the windscreen of my Honda Jazz.Editing the clips and sewing it all together was done using Microsoft Movie Maker on a Windows 7 PC and music was added from my personal collection.
