UK Penny Floor Project | Using 27,000 1 penny coins and creating a copper penny floor. MIG Archive 2016-12-11 | When thinking about what to lay in the kitchen we came up with a fantastic idea inspired from what we had seen online. We saw a bunch of penny floor projects in the USA, it seemed a really popular way of creating a bespoke retro floor for any part of the house, but wasnt done in the UK. Challenge accepted!We took 27,000 1p coins and decided to give our kitchen diner a new look. Each coin was individually glued to the floor which had been self levelled before hand and left to dry. After gluing down all the coins a black grout was applied to fill the gaps followed by a high gloss epoxy resin to cover and seal.The end result is simply awesome. Running the Valencia Half Marathon 2022 MIG Archive 2022-10-23 | It’s been a long time since I’ve visited Valencia in Spain. In 2018 I ran the Valencia marathon, betting my PB of 4:50, great support and a fast and flat route, and the half marathon was no different.Fantastic weather, great support, fast route, and Valencia Half Marathon proved to be a brilliant race.Thisis definately a race you want to consider if you want to sent a half marathon PB.

Swimming With Sharks at Bear Grylls Experience Birmingham | Shark Dive MIG Archive 2022-05-13 | One of my partners bucket list experiences has been to swim with sharks, and for her birthday i booked the Shark Dive Experience at Bear Grylls Adventure in Birmingham. Finally she is swimming with sharks!Bear Grylls Experience, located by thge NEC in Birmingham, is an amazing place packed full of things to do including high ropes, axe throwing, archery, shooting, diving experiences, snorkling, wall climbing and more. Visiting Old Harry Rocks, on the Dorset Jurassic Coast MIG Archive 2021-09-04 | We recently went away for a long weekend break in Somerset, staying off grid in a fantastic Yurt.One of the places we wanted to visit was the Jurassic Coastline, and chose one of the most popular spot on the coast in Dorset, to visit Old Harry Rocks.Old Harry Rocks are three chalk formations, including a stack and a stump, located at Handfast Point, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, southern England. They mark the most eastern point of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.So, we decided to make a video showing you the route from South Beach car park, Studland, right the way to the Dorset coast where Old Harry Rocks lies which is just a 1 mile walk each way. Running Henstridge Airfield Parkrun & Review of Linley Yurt, Somerset MIG Archive 2021-08-30 | We recently stayed at Linley Yurt in Somerset, an off grid Yurt set in the grounds of Kimbers Farm Shop, in rural Bruton in Somerset. During our long weekend stay we decided to do a spot of Parkrun tourism and attended Henstridge Airfield Parkrun.Henstridge Airfield Parkrun is set in the grounds of Henstridge Airfiled and is a 90% off-road route, looping around the fields and woods surrounding the airfield. Its felt like ages since we were allowed to attend any kind of running race so the return of Parkrun is a welcomed boost after more than a year of COVID lockdown.After returning from running following the COVID lockdown we had big plans, to run the Valencia Marathon on 6 months of training. Sadly, with very little base training we quickly realised that our goals were a step to far. The Ironbridge Half Marathon 2019 MIG Archive 2019-03-25 | Every year the Telford Harriers put on their annual race, the Ironbridge Half Marathon. And this year was a special one, it was the races 30th year anniversary!Runners congregated at Telford Town Park on Sunday 24th March 2019 with the sun shining, all ready to tackle this tough 13.1 mile course. The route took runners out of Telford Town Park, down the Silkin Way and into Coalport. Once over the Coalport Bridge, runners tackle some trails before coming into Ironbridge itself and passing over the historic, world renowned Iron Bridge. Building a beer bottle cap cable reel table using bottle tops and epoxy resin MIG Archive 2019-03-15 | Last year I made a small beer bottle cap table using beer bottle tops and epoxy resin, which you can see here: youtu.be/mnESlTEzLDIThis time around I have used a large wooden cable reel to make this table, along with beer bottle caps, grout and epoxy resin. The table is trimmed with a wood edging and finished in woodstain.I sourced bottle caps locally and up-cycled a builders cable reel to make a prefect recycled table. The Malta Marathon 2019 cancelled race Malta Storm 24/02/2019, big wave footage MIG Archive 2019-02-26 | On the weekend of 23rd and 24th February a group of around 35 Telford Harriers made the trip to Malta to run in both the Malta Marathon and Half Marathon races.Little did we know the weekend was to take a turn for the worse and the island of Malta be overtaken by a huge storm which resulted in organisers being forced to cancel the race due to safety concerns.The storm hit Malta on the Saturday afternoon which did considerable damage to buildings, uprooted trees and flooded roads. Winds were reported to have reached over 100 km per hour. Making a penny table and running medal table with epoxy resin MIG Archive 2019-02-13 | This weeks project sees two existing plain tables brought to life with 1penny coins and running medals and covered in Glass Cast epoxy resin from Easy Composites!!Our first table is a white powder coated side table that I was asked to design with 1penny coins. The coins were glued down before the glass cast epoxy resin poured to create this stunning side table.The second table was a matching design but powder coated green. With this table we glued down runners medals, ranging from 5k to marathon distances. The 5p Table Project, creating a table from 5p coins and epoxy resin MIG Archive 2019-01-21 | Last year i made a beer bottle top table which looked great. After making that table i really wanted to try making one from silver coins, so i bought a boring old steel table from a local furniture store and collected 500 x 5 pence pieces and set to work on making a 5p table.After buying the table, i sourced glue to stock down the 5p coins, the epoxy resin from Easy Composites, some mixing rubs and of course 500 coins from my local bank.The process took about 2 days; a few hours to make the table and glue down the coins, 4 hours for the drying process, 30 mins to mix and pour the resin and 48 hours for the resin to dry and cure to its maximum hardness.I know i didn't make the table, but i wanted something relatively cheat to see how the table would look before embarking on a full on DIY project, and overall I'm happy with the way this 54p table looks. Running the Valencia Marathon 2018 MIG Archive 2018-12-04 | I first ran a marathon in April of this year, the London Marathon. It didn't go to plan, from the weather to poor pre-race training meant i had a toug time. So running another was always on the cards. Eight months on, December 02, 2018, and i travelled to Valencia to run the Valencia Marathon. A relatively flat and fast course, one where I needed to post a respectable time!Despite still managing injury, i ran the 26.2 miles in 4hours 30, knocking 69 mins from my last marathon. Running Telford Junior Parkrun MIG Archive 2018-11-04 | Today we ran Telford Junior Parkrun, Sophies first run for 14 months. Telford Junior parkrun course is 2k in distance and takes place every Sunday ay 10am. The course is set in the beautiful Telford Town Park, which is a lovely location to run.We decided to make a short vlog of our run, and compare it to one we will make in 6 months time and compare the progression in Sophies running. Talybont Holiday 2018 | Zip World Wales, Fforest Coaster, Tree Hoppers and Llanfair Slate Mine MIG Archive 2018-08-14 | During August 2018 we spent 4 days in Talybont, North Wales, this is our vlog of our trip.While we were away we visited Zip World and rode the Fforest Coaster and Treehoppers activity which were brilliant. Great facilities, staff and the price wasnt too bad either.Our sea fishing trip was cancelled due to poor weather and our GoPro died while out Kayaking with Snowdonia Adventures so sadly not featured in this video. Zip World Fforest Coaster | POV Footage Riding UKs only Alpine Roller Coaster MIG Archive 2018-08-12 | This weekend we decided to visit the Fforest Coaster at Zip World in Wales. The Fforest Coaster is an exhilarating adventure, based on the traditional toboggan but runs on rails, which offers all year, all-weather adventure.We filmed POV footage riding the UKs only Alpine roller coaster to give you first hand footage of this amazing ride. This is a 1 kilometre run that winds through the middle of the Welsh Forest at Zip World Fforest. You can either ride is as a single rider or as a 2-person ride with kids under 8 years old. You control the speed by using the break lever either side of the cart.Absolutely loved this activity and would recommend it for anyone else. Telford Harriers at the Wrekin Relay Challenge 2018 | Trail Running around the Wrekin MIG Archive 2018-07-15 | July saw the annual Wrekin Relay Challenge take place which is staged by local running club, Wrekin Road Runners. The event is a very hilly trail run which starts and finishes at Half Way House, half way up the Wrekin. This is a team event where each teams has 3 runners, either all male, all female or mixed, with the aim of getting all 3 round the 3.8 mile course in as quickest time as possible.This was my first crack at the event and it was amazing, both amazingly hard due to how hilly the route is, and amazingly fun. The Spring Classic Ice Hockey Tournament 2018, testing out FiLMiC Pro and the iPhone 7 Plus MIG Archive 2018-04-30 | Ive recently bought FiLMiC Pro for the iPhone 7 Plus and as i was going to be at the Spring Classics ice hockey tournament in Swindon this weekend i figured id give it a go to see how it coped inside of an ice rink.So this isnt a film of the ice hockey tournament, just clips shot using the phone and what is widely known as the best film making app for mobile devices. Just to see how it got on under bad light conditions and with a fast sport.The app coped really well, and i was impressed by the 60 and 120 FPS options for shooting footage that can be slowed right down. It struggled with the white balance, and focusing due to the speed of the game, but overall i think it did well. And I also learnt a fair bit to make the next test look even better.Everything on here was shot on my phone, using FiLMiC Pro and edited in the basic iMovie app.Music: http://www.purple-planet.com
The London Marathon 2018 | KIDS Charity runner | Telford Harriers MIG Archive 2018-04-24 | April 22nd 2018 saw me take on my first ever marathon, in the hear of the UK. Yes thats right, i chose to run the London Marathon.I opted to run for charity and had a place running for KIDS Charity, a brilliant organisation that offers help and support to disabled children and their families across the UK.My training hadn't gone to plan, completed maybe 50% of it due to an injury. But that didn't stop me traveling down to the capital to participate in the best marathon in the world. How to make a DIY Steampunk Copper Lamp MIG Archive 2018-04-13 | So today I decided to making a Steampunk copper pipe lamp using 15mm copper tube and compression fittings. First thing to say is if you are trying this yourself please make sure you consult a professional electrician when it comes to the wiring. Copper is a conductive material and incorrect wiring can lead to electric shock. I used 15mm copper pipe and 15mm compression elbows and tee's to make this lamp. I used a copper lamp holder purchased from ebay. All joints were simply tightened with pliers to ensure the whole build was secure.I opted for a nice LED filament light which aded to the look over the lamp. DJI Spark Drone Twilight Flight at The Wrekin, Telford MIG Archive 2018-03-27 | Took an impulse walk to The Wrekin today with just an hours worth of light left and took the DJI Spark with me to add some excitement to the walk.Was quite windy up top, so couldnt take the drone to high, but gave me the chance to test fly it in decent gusts and capture some more test footage.The Spark is such an easy drone to fly and loads of fun too. Ironbridge Half Marathon 2018 | Telford Harriers MIG Archive 2018-03-25 | Sunday 25th March 2018, and its time for the annual Ironbridge Half Marathon, staged by Telford Harriers.The race is a 13.1 mile route starting at Telford Town Park and taking runners along the Silkin Way, into historic Coalport, Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale before entering Rough Park and attaching bac onto the Silkin way for the run back to the Town Park and the finish.Its an absolutely fantastic race, very picturesque with lots to see but also tests the best of runners. The first 9 miles are all downhill or relatively flat as you run from Telford into Ironbridge, but what goes down must come up and the final 4 miles are all uphill. The whole event was fantastic, from the route to the marshalls. Medals and technical tshirts were given out in a cool Ironbridge Half bag that will come in useful at most events. Even the weather played ball with sun and blue skies.Ive tried to show as much of the route as possible without the video going on for too long. DJI Spark Test Flight in the snow | Can a DJI Spark fly in snow? MIG Archive 2018-03-18 | This weekend i purchased a DJI Spark drone but the weather decided to be a pain and throw loads of snow down on my home town. Having only ever flown by old Phantom 3, i was interested to see how the Spark handled and i just couldnt wait till the snow cleared.So I took a walk down to my local lake, which is about 10 mins from my house, to give it a short test flight. I only flew it the life of 1 battery, so i could also see how long i actually got out of one full charge.Planning a proper flight later this week and will post a better review. My trip to the The Cyprus Marathon, Half Marathon & 10k races March 2018 MIG Archive 2018-03-07 | Ive only done around 4 half marathon races, so when the opportunity came up to travel to Paphos in Cyprus to run the Logicom Cyprus half marathon I wasnt about to say no!Me and a few friends travelled to Manchester to meet up with the Telford Harriers Running Club and an army of around 35 of us rocked up to Cyprus ready for a fantastic 4 days in Paphos.It was a truly unforgettable long weekend, great atmosphere, great people and although personally my race was absolutely shocking, i still had a fantastic time and made a whole bunch of new friends.This is my video of the trip, the race and of course the now notorious Bad Town!!! How to tie dye a tshirt | Tie Dye Tutorial using tie dye kit and swirl pattern MIG Archive 2018-02-25 | It was a freezing weekend, so we thought of a new project we could have fun with and came up with tshirt tie dying!!!We had a tie dye pack from Christmas so went out to but some plain cotton tshirts we could tie dye. After buying 3 tshirts fro a local clothing store we unpacked the tie dye kit and set to work making our cool new clothes.The girls decided to make a mini tutorial, it really was their first attempt and i think they did a fantastic job. The only change we would have made is leaving them to soak for a little bit longer as we only left them for 6 hours and the colour did fade a bit. But they still look awesome and we will be trying it again really soon.We purchased our extra kit from The Works, it was just £5 for 4 colours, so a steal. We used luke warm water to pre-soak and just a bowl with a grill on top to catch the excess dye. The part to make sure you get right it the swirl right at the start and band it up correctly. Sophies Timelapse Project at The Wrekin, River Severn and a Skittle Rainbow MIG Archive 2018-02-11 | Sophie school project was to create a time lapse video so armed with a few cameras we headed to The Wrekin in Telford to capture a timelapse video at the top.Sadly, the weather was pretty bad and by the time we got to the top of the Wrekin it was extremely foggy, so we had to change plans. We did attempt to shoot some cars passing under a bridge, so the day wasnt completely wasted!The following day we revisited The Wrekin to shoot a landscape time-lapse of the clouds over the hill, then headed to Ironbridge to shoot the River Severn flowing by the Ironbridge Power Station.Lastly Sophie set up a Skittle rainbow and we filmed the colours drain from the Skittles to form a rainbow.Overall a good weekend spent creating some fun videos using my iPhone 7 plus.Music: www.bensound.com
Banshee Rune Test Ride | Mountain biking in the woods and attacked by a dog MIG Archive 2017-11-28 | So this afternoon i took my new Banshee Rune out for a test ride after purchasing it at the weekend. Nothing major, just a ride in the local woods to see how it performed in the mud.This is a 2015 Banshee Run frame and has been significantly upgraded to what you see in this video. So I was looking forward to taking it out to see how it performed before hitting some proper trails.I rode around my local little woods, a place called the Cockshutt in Telford. Its a popular place with dog walkers and people out for a short walk. No major trails, but some muddy tracks to stretch the legs on.Loved the ride, smooth and rolled well. Met some nice dogs, then a psycho jack russell who tried to eat my ankles, so make sure you keep watching to laugh at me crapping myself!!Next stop, trail riding, and a new film!Music: www.bensound.com
