The Impact of What Impacts You
One of my core beliefs is that the more we can connect to what impacts us about our work, the more impact we can have via our work.
Join me for a workshop designed to help you identify what impacts you about our work to help you understand and articulate the kinds of projects, roles, and careers that are right for you.
About our speaker:
Michael Bolognino, Class of 2001
Michael Bolognino Life & Career Coaching (ACC, CPCC)
After studying Creative Writing & Communications/Media Studies at Tufts, Michael spent 20+ years in Marketing, with the last 13 at Google leading Product and Brand Marketing campaigns and eventually running Operations for social. Following a "why am I so unfulfilled while working at one of the best companies in the world" identity crisis in early 2018, Michael discovered that only he was in charge of his career and life, and after taking a good hard look at what really lit him up, realized that after two decades of marketing to people, he really wanted to find a way to work more directly with people. Later that year Michael was certified as a Co-Active/ICF Coach, and has since been helping clients discover their inner potential and make an impact on their lives, careers, and relationships. In July 2023, he resigned from Google to focus on his coaching practice. Michael lives in the Berkshires at The Filomena, a 19th-century rectory that he and his husband Nick renovated and run as an occasional Airbnb and photoshoot destination.

Leslie Warner is an Assistant Director in Alumni Career Services. "My path to becoming a career coach began in college, when I stumbled into being a Career Center Peer Advisor. I’ve been happily helping people connect with work they love ever since. After an undergrad degree in English and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, I’ve had a variety of jobs, including helping staff at an Army Base that was closing and people affected by layoffs. I also learned about the “other side” of hiring through my work as a Recruiter in Human Resources. At Tufts, I help alumni of all career stages manage their careers, including job search, on-the-job success, graduate school, and finding meaning and purpose at any age. I meet one on one with alumni, and I also enjoy designing and leading workshops and webinars. I especially love helping others learn strategies they can use throughout their lives."

"A goal without a plan is just a wish." - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Join Arielle Sadan, Executive Coach and owner of Revel&Awe, to explore how to turn a wish into a real goal. There are many ways to think about and plan goals, and sometimes, the options can be overwhelming. How do we set goals? How do we accomplish them? What do we need to prioritize to make sure we can do it? How do we remember to put in the work? And, isn’t it just SO overwhelming to think about?
Goal setting doesn’t need to feel so pressured. We’ll walk through one of the most common goal-setting frameworks in the workplace: OKRs, which stands for Objectives and Key Results. Using this framework, along with getting some clarity about what your priorities are for the year, we’ll define a few goals to tackle in the coming months and year. The goal is to help you feel more clear, grounded, and focused.
Arielle Sadan loves identifying what makes people tick and figure out how to help them tick better; in other words, Arielle loves to help her clients learn how to become the best versions of themselves. As a certified professional coach, she specializes in helping early- and mid-level professionals develop their leadership skills, carve out fulfilling career paths, and live into their potential. She received her professional coaching certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and is credentialed (PCC) by the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Leadership can be described as the ability to influence others to action toward a common goal, and even without title or authority to make others take action, it is still possible to influence them and make progress. In this session with Arielle Sadan, Executive Coach and owner of Revel&Awe, we’ll define the key characteristics required for influence and explore some of the most effective ways to build your influence - with or without a title to match - so you can start building your leadership skills, whatever stage of your career you’re at!

Eat this. No, eat that. There are no bad foods. Actually, there are some bad foods. Red meat causes heart disease and you should shift to plant-based proteins. Never mind, eating meat actually doesn’t hurt you. If you’ve ever been confused by diet recommendations, you’re not alone. We may not all agree on what to eat, but we should all agree that the number of contradictory and confusing recommendations reaching the public is absurd. In this not-quite-theatrical exposé, the husband-wife team of Drs. Sarah Booth and Ed Salzman will discuss the many seemingly contradictory recommendations about what to eat. They will also do their best to answer your questions about diet and nutrition.

Why does war play such a central role in Russia’s self-image? How does this impact its view of the world and how has Putin used this history to justify his invasion of Ukraine? How a country defines its past can profoundly shape how it sees its present. This is not merely a facet of propaganda but a deadly serious matter as we now see unfolding before us.
Our speaker, Professor/Dean Emeritus from Gallaudet University, Dr. David Martin, will present on a long-standing mystery that is near and dear to his heart. A mid-19th century ancestor seemed to have no identifiable parents, a very common name, and many possible options for what could be true. Starting with very little information, the investigator on the case pursued many avenues involving probates, divorce records, medical records, Native American archives, DNA and military pension records. The most important clue discovered? A Civil War Military Pension application from service in the Union Navy. This document, among other things, revealed a concussion this relative sustained from the cannons on the ironclad ship, the Monitor, as it battled with the South’s ironclad vessel, the Merrimack. Through many indirect "detective" leads and blind alleys, the enigma was finally solved with a variety of techniques that may help others to track down elusive ancestors.
This event will be held via Zoom webinar. We look forward to “seeing” you there!
