For more than fifty years, entire generations have grown up with animated versions of Green Lantern on television. Each show presented its audience with a different take on the concept, and had something new to offer, but all of them carried an undeniable level of love and understanding for the qualities that make Green Lantern mean so much to its fans. It's those same qualities that drew me in to Gurren Lagann, a 2007 anime series produced by Ginax, which ran for 27 episodes and showed the world how powerful the core concepts of Green Lantern can be, even without the familiar trappings we're used to. You won't find any power rings in this show, but you will find a story that gets to the heart of what makes Green Lantern so appealing to so many of us.
