As a kid, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights were among the first games I've ever played, and looked back on most fondly. Those experiences shaped my perception of what games and fantasy could be, and it's not a stretch to say if not for them, I wouldn't be making music. Or have much interest in art to begin with. But then I grew up, with not a single modern rendition of a dnd or tabletop oriented rpg in sight. There was Pillars of Eternity, Dragon Age Origins (sort of), and to smaller extent Gothic and Witcher. But none of them really reached the mark of character choice older crpg's allowed for, nevermind ones that even explored Forgotten Realms.
It's weird to wait for something for 20+ years and then just get it, where before you were convinced it'll never happen.

The story, atmosphere and characters were great, if a few bosses less inspired. Pity all that will be forever soured by some whacky game design decisions.
The arrangement here is a little different from the original, some sections were moved, some cut out to give a bit different feeling to the track. Hope you like the new sound, since Slave Knight Gael I started using a couple new sound design tricks I haven't used before. Still working on the overall sound quality, the bass remains a little messy, but it's coming together nicely.
After about 16h spent on just transposing the melody, I can see why there are so few covers of phase 2 and 3. For the first time I needed two separate projects just to fit all this into a single track, because my pc couldn't process the sheer amount of stuff happening at once. I'll probably do a second cover of it sometime in the future, but in a different style. It's particularly complex and it's a great learning experience. As is most of dark souls and bloodborne music. Anyway, this one took me a bit over three weeks, tracks like these are ridiculously demanding so it's the last with this amount of detail for a while. I like overthinking every little detail, but I'll get back to them whenever I upgrade my pc, as on my current they're a royal pain to make.
『Other Media』 Twitter: twitter.com/chrono_gray Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/tristangray-official Bandcamp: http://tristangray.bandcamp.comDark Souls 2: Majula | Ambient Orchestral CoverTristan Gray2022-09-23 | I like Majula way better than Firelink Shrine and Roundtable Hold as a hub. It's a place that could be home, with a life of it's own. Something to remind you the undead are still human enough to need some stability. There's a feeling of permanency to it, as oppose to Firelink Shrine which always felt to me like a place to stay only for the moment. I guess that's one thing DS2 fleshed out more than other entries in the series. The humanity of those touched by the curse, rather than grandiose legends of heroes and gods past.
Up next: - Bloodborne: The Hunter - Deltarune: Killer Queen ("In Queen's Grasp" Part II) - Dark Souls 2: Aldia, Scholar of The First Sin - Dark Souls 1: Ornstein and Smough - Deltarune: Chaos King - Dark Souls 2: Queen of Drangleic - Bloodborne: Hunter's Dream - Deltarune: Cyber's World - Dark Souls 2: Sir Alonne - Deltarune: Big Shot
For the worst game in the series, DS2 is the one I've finished most times. I can't put my finger on what it is about it's world that makes me come back to it every now and then. It doesn't come close to the dramatic and epic settings of DS1 and DS3, nor is it nearly as creative or memorable with it's boss and environment design. But traversing Drangleic has a feeling to it that is near impossible to find in any other game. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, guess my point is that emerald herald is the best waifu.
Up next (probably in order): - Dark Souls 2: Majula - Deltarune: Killer Queen ("In Queen's Grasp" Part II, final) - Dark Souls 2: Aldia, Scholar of The First Sin - Dark Souls 1: Ornstein and Smough - Deltarune: Chaos King - Dark Souls 2: Queen of Drangleic - Bloodborne: Hunter's Dream - Bloodborne: The Hunter - Deltarune: Cyber's World - Dark Souls 2: Sir Alonne - Deltarune: Big Shot

I want to get to a point where I can make a Chuck e Cheese commercial sound like you've entered a Dark Souls boss room.
Funnily enough, I would always shy away from covers of any of the Fromsoft's games. I always felt like I wasn't nearly good enough to do them justice, not just the music but the games themselves. Guess that comes with admiration and some amount of unnecessary idealization. Anyway, I'm a big boy now, so the SoulsBorne season is open.
For the curious, I'm going to address my absence a bit. Truth be told, it's for no other reason than lack of motivation. These covers take a ridiculous amount of time to make (this one took 90+ hours, no joke), and with 'some' rl struggles, the will to keep making these never comes easy. The knowledgeable in music production could make an argument that's way too long and it shouldn't take so much time. Which is entirely correct, my work ethic isn't flawless, and I tend to spend a lot of time on details a regular listener couldn't even distinguish. In essence, it's flawed perfectionism. Something can be said for care and time put into every bit of a song, but taking weeks to complete a single one, as enjoyable as that may be, is as far from the realm of practicality as it could be. So I've decided to take on a new approach, and set a challenge for myself. For the reminder of the year, I intend to release one cover per every week left in 2022. Unless some freak accident happens which will prevent me from it, like my hard-drives suddenly failing or a spontaneous vacation to a hospital. Wouldn't be the first time in either case. I'm not yet sure if I'll even manage, no doubt these covers won't be of the same quality, but the habit and pressure which comes from working on a schedule as oppose to whenever I feel like it, will be of benefit in the long run. And as per usual, I'll still give them my best even if the time is limited, so that doesn't mean shit music from now on. Just more of it.
Up next: DS1 - Firelink Shrine (yeah I'm bringing those back)
I'm a little late with this one, but I had to make it regardless. Here's to one of the most influential works in fantasy as a genre. And it's creator, who left us way too soon. This is likely the first and last cover of Berserk that I'm going to make. First Miura, now anniversary of Zyzz's passing just two weeks ago. These have been grim couple of months.
『Artwork source』 Couldn't find the artist. Even after a long time spent digging through reverse searches and witnessing parts of AoT fandom I didn't necessarily wanted to know existed, I still couldn't find it. Seriously, Undertail ain't got shit on this crap. Anyway, if you know the author, write a comment or send me a mail. zerochan.net/1506069

The video got a copyright strike before getting a single view while still in private mode, so that's cool. If you'd consider getting a copy from Bandcamp or subbing to my Patreon that'd be great. Not that you have to, but I'll watch you sleep at night if you don't.
I couldn't find a fitting artwork, so I figured I'll just loop a scene from the game. Then, I thought I'll make it few scenes for variety. And then, somehow it turned into a music video. Hope you enjoy my first attempt at editing something. This was a very interesting cover to make. The original theme of The Last of Us Part II was somewhat unconventional, the same theme from the first TLoU, just with more grit and dirt. I aimed to retain it's feeling while sticking to the orchestral theme. Most times It doesn't really follow a particular tempo, or song structure. It's a complete mess, and that's exactly what it needed to be.

I don't remember the last time a song took me this long to make. This is by far the largest (literally, it's almost 6min), and the most demanding track I've ever made. The challenge was welcome though, I might even make one or two more of these.

『Artwork Source』 Sadly, I couldn't find the original source, even with reverse search. If any of you know who the author is, do let me know. tinyurl.com/y9my3kbu
Nope. No lengthy description this time. So, yeah. That's about it. I don't want to reminisce how wrapping up Undertale took me three years. Now it's time to turn my eyes outside of Toby Fox's little bubble. Attack on Titan cover coming, maybe two. I'm still doing Deltarune though, I'm not done with this one yet.

I was going to make a compilation of all the Megalovania requests I've received since I started making Undertale covers, but considering how many there were, it would take too long to pile up in the video. So here it is. This will be second to last of my Undertale covers. If you're wondering why the song has a slight hint of crippling depression, it's because I changed it's scale to C# minor. But other than that, it's still the same fat skeleton man vs morally confused psychotic gender fluid child with a knife battle theme everyone loves so much. It's nearing 5 am, and I'm too lazy to add a thumbnail. I wanted to push it out the door asap so I'll get to that tomorrow.

This one took wayyy longer than anticipated. You may notice the sound quality is a little different from my previous covers. Lately I've switched a couple of mixing and mastering techniques, still working on it, but I'd say the sound is way better. Also, my Patreon page is finally up. A little overdue, but as I've said before - I wasn't willing to make it if I wasn't ready to properly dedicate myself to this channel. Anyways - like, comment, subscribe, all that good stuff.
I couldn't decide between Electro and DnB, so have both. After some thought, I figured I'll make EDM uploads a regular thing. Meaning, more or less every second or third upload is going to be some subgenre of it. I'm still going to release orchestral arrangements as per usual, but it's about time to show some love to electronic music as well. With all that said - enjoy.
This is probably the last original I'm going to upload on this channel. I decided to make Tristan Gray cover focused only, and upload any future original work to a separate channel, of which, once everything is in place, I'll be sure to notify.

Except for making a decent looking video and uploading one without stupid audio compression, apparently. The World Revolving and Circus in one- the most requested cover since my last upload. Besides Megalovania... We'll get there guys, don't worry. It's on the list. And thank you for all the surprisingly positive and supportive comments on my last video, brings a tear. Or it would, if I had any left. But on a more serious note- Thank you. It means a lot.

Took me a while, I know. There was a point when I considered leaving writing music for good, but luckily, as you can see this isn't the case anymore. Nor do I think it ever will be again. I'm back, and I'm better than ever. Both personally and musically. From now, on this channel I'll be uploading what you guys want to hear the most, and what's most often mentioned in the comments. Undertale related or not. Because let's be honest, this game is kind of old at this point. With all that said- here's my cover of Bergentrückung and Asgore.
That, and I needed an excuse to create something that is written by me at least in half, not just recycle melodies from other songs of the soundtrack. Though you can still hear "Burn In Despair" motive around which entire melody was built, and "SAVE The World" as the last part of the song. Yes, this really is "SAVE The World" at the end, only played in minor. Well, a bit modified minor... it's more of an improvisation than anything else.

Even though Megalo Strike Back is actually a song made by Toby Fox for a fan made Earthbound EP (not FROM Earthbound, get your facts straight ya nerds), since a certain very popular video was released, it's mostly associated by the fandom with Undertale. And the video I'm referring to was an animation of fan-made Chara fight. If you'd like to see the video, it's right here: youtube.com/watch?v=786bb0vGdJM Go ahead and watch it, it's really good. Now, with that said- for me, it was a good enough reason to pin this one under Utale. That, and I simply don't feel like making an entire new playlist for just one song.

I feel like I wasn't particularly creative with this one. But honestly, I think the arrangement by Toby Fox was already perfect, so why mess with it? Like, subscribe and all that good stuff.
