LYRICS
"Extraordinary Girl"
“Extraordinary Girl” shows how Jesus of Suburbia has fallen in love with the rebelliousness and punk attitude of Whatsername, previously introduced in “She’s a Rebel”.
The track compares both characters and shows Whatsername as a strong-willed woman while it portrays Jesus of Suburbia as wittle and depressed man with no goals in life. Originally Whatsername is attracted to Jesus of Suburbia’s alter-ego St. Jimmy; a hardened, rebellious personality that suppressed Jesus of Suburbia’s loner psyche. St. Jimmy is the type of guy that Whatshername likes, so the two end up together. Though they both like each other, their two personalities clash, and their relationship doesn’t work out.
The song also shows that, even while she looks to be so strong-willed, Whatshername has a darker, sadder side, much in the way that the Jesus of Suburbia is the sadder side to St. Jimmy.
[Instrumental Intro]
[Verse 1]
She's an extraordinary girl
In an ordinary world
And she can't seem to get away
He lacks the courage in his mind
Like a child left behind
Like a pet left in the rain
[Chorus]
She's all alone again
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Some days he feels like dying
She gets so sick of crying
[Verse 2]
She sees the mirror of herself
An image she wants to sell
To anyone willing to buy
He steals the image in her kiss
From her heart's apocalypse
From the one called Whatsername
[Chorus]
She's all alone again
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Some days he feels like dying
She gets so sick of crying
[Instrumental Bridge]
[Chorus]
She's all alone again
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Some days he feels like dying
Some days it's not worth trying
Now that they both are finding
She gets so sick of crying
[Outro]
She's an extraordinary girl
An extraordinary girl
An extraordinary girl
An extraordinary girl
"Letterbomb"
“Letterbomb” is presented by Whatsername, which is apparent in the Broadway adaptation of the album. In the track, Jesus of Suburbia and Whatsername’s romance has ended; she left him, believing that he is too melodramatic and self-destructive.
[Intro: Kathleen Hanna]
Nobody likes you, everyone left you
They're all out without you, having fun
[Verse: Billie Joe Armstrong]
Where have all the bastards gone?
The underbelly stacks up ten high
The dummy failed the crash test
Collecting unemployment checks
A flunkie only along for the ride
Where have all the riots gone
As the city's motto gets pulverized?
What's in love is now in debt
On your birth certificate
So strike the fucking match to light this fuse
[Pre-Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong]
The town bishop's an extortionist
And he don't even know that you exist
Standing still when it's do or die
You better run for your fucking life
[Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong]
It's not over 'til you're underground
It's not over before it's too late
This city's burnin', it's not my burden
It's not over before it's too late
There is nothing left to analyze
[Bridge: Billie Joe Armstrong]
Where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself?
And where will we all go when it's too late?
[Guitar Solo]
And don't look back
[Pre-Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong]
You're not the Jesus of Suburbia
The St. Jimmy is a figment of
Your father's rage and your mother's love
Made me the idiot America
[Chorus: Billie Joe Armstrong]
It's not over 'til you're underground
It's not over before it's too late
This city's burnin', it's not my burden
It's not over before it's too late
[Outro: Billie Joe Armstrong]
Well, she said, "I can't take this place
I'm leaving it behind"
Well, she said, "I can't take this town
I'm leaving you tonight"

LYRICS
[Verse 1: Mike Shinoda]
I watch how the moon sits in the sky in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
The sun doesnt give light to the moon assuming
The moons gonna owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do favors, then rapidly
Just turn around and start askin me about
Things that you want back from me
[Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda]
Im sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you actin like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
[Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you dont understand
(Youll see its not meant to be)
I wanna be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head
[Verse 2: Mike Shinoda]
Maybe someday, Ill be just like you and
Step on people like you do and
Run away all the people I thought I knew
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm, used to be strong
Used to be generous, but you shoulda known
That youd wear out your welcome
And now, you see how quiet it is all alone
[Pre-Chorus: Mike Shinoda]
Im so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you actin like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
Im so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger
Sick of you actin like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
[Chorus: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
I wanna be in another place
I hate when you say you dont understand
(Youll see its not meant to be)
I wanna be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head
[Interlude: Chester Bennington]
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
[Bridge: Chester Bennington]
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away

[Outro: Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda]
Stay away
I am so sick of the tension, sick of the hunger (Sick)
Sick of you actin like I owe you this

LYRICS
[Intro]
Cause some things just dont change
Its better when they stay the same
Although the whole world knows your name
Some want a bigger stage
They came to see you spit your game, whoa
But it shouldnt be difficult to explain
Just why you came back again
You hate the fame, love the game
Cold as ice you remain, fuck em all
Tell em all eat shit, here we go again
[Ad-Libs]
Oh!

Is it that time again already?
Haha, okay
Yall don’t look too happy to see me
Fuck, man
Don’t everybody welcome me back at once
All right

[Verse 1]
You can get the dick, just call me the ballsack, Im nuts

Fuck your worms, youve never seen such a sick puppy
Fuck it, a sick duck, I want my duck sicked, mummy
And my nuts licked, gobble em up, trick, yummy
Bitch, you dont fuckin think I know that you suck dick, dummy?
Youll get your butt kicked, fuck all that love shit, honey
Yeah, I laugh when I call you a slut, its funny
Shorty, dance, while I diss you to the beat, fuck the words
You dont listen to em anyway, yeah, struck a nerve, sucker
Motherfucker, might as well let my lips pucker
Like Elton John, cause Im just a mean cocksucker
The shit is on cause you went and pissed me off
Now Im shittin and pissin on everybody
Give a fuck if its right or wrong
So puff the Buddha, light a bong, but take a look at Mariah
Next time I inspire you to write a song—come on!
[Chorus]
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
Im as cold as the cold wind blows
When it snows and its twenty below
Ask me why, man, I just dont know
No-no-no, no-no, no
Im as cold as the cold wind blows
Blow-blow-blows
Blow-blow, blows, oh, oh-oh
[Verse 2]
Fuck it, Im a loose cannon, Bruce Banners back in the booth
Yall are sittin ducks, Im the only goose standin
Ill set the world on fire, piss on it, put it out
Stick my dick in a circle, but Im not fuckin around
Motherfucker, Ill show you pussy-footin
Ill kick a bitch in the cunt til it makes a queef
And sounds like a fuckin whoopee cushion
Who the fuck is you pushin?
You musta mistook me for some sissy soft punk
Lookin for some nookie or bosom
Go ahead, fuckin hater, push me!
I told you aint no fuckin way to shush me
Call me a faggot cause I hate a pussy
Man the fuck up, sissy, Gs up, all you gardeners freeze up
Put your hoes down, Shady ease up!
Man, chill! Nah, I cant, goddamn it, rap is a landfill
Drop the anvil, these are shoes that you cant fill
Shit, the day that happens the world will stop spinnin
And Michael J. Foxll come to a standstill
During an earthquake, urine in your face
Cause youre fake (*lightning noise*) Ow! What the fuck? That hurt, wait!
(*Lightning noise*) Ow! What the fuck? I just got struck by lightnin
Alright then, I quit, God, I give up
Call it evil that men do
Lord, forgive me for what my pen do
This is for your sins, I cleanse you
And you can repent, but I warn you
If you continue, to Hell Ill send you
And just then the wind blew, and I said...
[Chorus]
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
Im as cold as the cold wind blows
When it snows and its twenty below
Ask me why, man, I just dont know
No-no-no, no-no, no
Im as cold as the cold wind blows
Blow-blow-blows
Blow-blow, blows, oh, oh-oh-oh, oh
[Verse 3]
How long will I be this way? Shady until my dyin day
Til I hang up the mic and its time for me to say
So long, til then, Ill drop the fuckin bombs
Like I missed the pass when I went long
If you dont like it, you can kiss my ass in a lint thong
Now sing along, slut this, slut that, learn the words to the song
Oh, bitches dont like that, homie, Ill be nicer to women
When Aquaman drowns and the Human Torch starts swimmin
Man, Im a cold soul, I roll solo
So, dont compare me to them other bums over there
Its like apples to oranges, peaches to plums, yeah
Im bananas, pussy, cut off the grapes and grow a pair
But I swear, you try to diss me, Ill slaughter you
I put that on everything, like everyone does with Auto-Tune
The last thing you want to do is have me spit out a rhyme
And say, I was writing this and I thought of you, so
[Chorus]
Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
Im as cold as the cold wind blows
When it snows and its twenty below
Ask me why, man, I just dont know
No-no-no, no-no, no
Im as cold as the cold wind blows
Blow-blow-blows
Blow-blow, blows, oh, oh-oh-oh, oh
[Outro]
I dont know, I dont know what caused
I dont know what caused me to be this way
I dont know, I dont know
But Ill probably be this way til my dyin day
I dont know why Im so, Im so cold
Mean things I dont mean to say
I guess this is how you made me Eminem - Cold Wind Blows (High Quality)](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/WoVITDprwaw/mqdefault.jpg)
![Green Day - Give Me Novacaine/Shes A Rebel (High Quality)
From album: American Idiot (2004)
LYRICS
Give Me Novacaine
“Give Me Novacaine” is about Jesus of Suburbia wanting to take drugs to relieve stress from his life and asking for reassurance from his alter ego St. Jimmy.
The instrumentality goes slow throughout the song with the music exploding in the choruses. The lyrics see a lonely Jesus of Suburbia asking for help and then raging with ‘St. Jimmy’ who eventually turns to novacaine to numb the pain.
If seen from the perspective of St. Jimmy being a figment of the Jesus of Suburbia’s imagination, this song could be about Jesus trying to suppress his own personality so he can become St. Jimmy, which is the personality he wants to be.
The title, derivates from the local anesthetic drug Procaine, used primarily to reduce the pain of intramuscular injection of penicillin, and it is also used in dentistry. Owing to the ubiquity of the trade name Novocain, in some regions, procaine is referred to generically as novocaine.
The song segues to the next track, “She’s A Rebel”, without pausing.
[Verse 1]
Take away the sensation inside
Bittersweet migraine in my head
Its like a throbbing toothache of the mind
I cant take this feeling anymore
[Pre-Chorus]
Drain the pressure from the swelling
This sensations overwhelming
[Chorus]
Give me a long kiss goodnight
And everythingll be alright
Tell me that I wont feel a thing
So give me Novacaine
[Verse 2]
Out of body and out of mind
Kiss the demons out of my dreams
I get the funny feeling thats alright
Jimmy says its better than here, Ill tell you why
[Pre-Chorus]
Drain the pressure from the swelling
This sensations overwhelming
[Chorus]
Give me a long kiss goodnight
And everythingll be alright
Tell me that I wont feel a thing
So give me Novacaine

Shes a Rebel
“She’s a Rebel” introduces a new character in the American Idiot story arc: Whatsername. Here, Jesus of Suburbia meets this free-spirited, rebellious woman who he falls in love with. The song details her strong-willed personality and her willingness to protest and rebel for her beliefs.
[Chorus]
Shes a rebel, shes a saint
Shes the salt of the earth, and shes dangerous
Shes a rebel, vigilante
Missing link on the brink of destruction
[Verse 1]
From Chicago to Toronto
Shes the one that they call ol Whatsername
Shes a symbol of resistance
And shes holding on my heart like a hand grenade
[Verse 2]
Is she dreaming what Im thinking?
Is she the mother of all bombs? Gonna detonate
Is she trouble like Im trouble?
Make it a double twist of fate or a melody that
[Bridge]
She sings the revolution
The dawning of our lives
She brings this liberation
That I just cant define, well, nothing comes to mind
