The original text for this hymn was written by Martin Luther, adapted from a 6th-century prayer for peace (st. 1). Around the time of the 500-year anniversary of The Reformation, we (Koiné) recorded our own arrangment of the hymn adding 3 new prayers for Luther's "solas" - Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, and Sola Scriptura (st. 2-4).

Grant peace, we pray, in mercy, Lord;
Peace in our time, oh, send us!
For there is none on earth but you,
None other to defend us.
You only, Lord, can fight for us. Amen

Scripture alone we pray, O Lord
Hope in your Word, oh, send us!
For there is none on earth but you,
None other to befriend us.
You only, Lord, speak truth to us. Amen

By grace alone we pray, O Lord
Grace poured from heaven, send us!
For there is none on earth but you,
None other to attend us.
Your only Son you sent for us. Amen

By faith alone we pray, O Lord
Faith beyond measure send us!
For there is none on earth but you,
None other to replenish
You only Lord can nourish us. Amen
