Osmo TopOil came out on top but pure tung oil was a very close second.This time, I wanted to see what happens in the real world.I made two nearly identical sycamore cutting boards, finished one with Osmo TopOil and the other with pure tung oil, and put them into regular use for more than a month. I Upgraded My Laser Engraver Fume Extraction - Huge Difference Matteson Creations 2026-07-01 | I finally replaced the loud, bulky dust collector I had been using for laser smoke extraction with an AC Infinity CLOUDLINE PRO S6 6-inch inline duct fan—and the difference is significant.In this video, I show how I installed the new exhaust setup for my xTool P2, including the reducers, duct connections, mounting, speed controller, and the reason I chose the 6-inch model instead of the smaller 4-inch version. The S6 is rated for up to 402 CFM, compared with 205 CFM for the 4-inch model. My system reduces to 4-inch ducting, so actual airflow will be lower than the fan’s maximum rating, but the larger fan gives me more extraction capacity to work through the duct restrictions.I also test the completed setup using incense smoke inside the laser to see how effectively the smoke is pulled toward the exhaust. Eventually, I plan to use this system with both of my laser engravers and my UV printer.This is not a sponsored video. Before You Throw Away Old Router Bits, Try This Matteson Creations 2026-06-20 | Your router bits may not be dull—they may just be dirty. In this video, I test the Shaper ultrasonic cleaner on router and CNC bits covered with years of resin, MDF dust, and baked-on grime.The biggest test is an old 2-inch surfacing bit that has spent years flattening MDF spoilboards on my CNC. I’ll show you the bit before cleaning, the ultrasonic-cleaning process, and how it performs afterward by cutting cleanly without burning the wood.I also share a simple jar method that lets me fill the ultrasonic-cleaner tank with water while keeping the actual cleaning solution contained around the bits. Making Cheap Lumber with a CNC Matteson Creations 2021-05-19 | Making Cheap Lumber with a CNC is easy! It is not hard to find a large slab for cheap that has excessive bows, warps, or defects that cause most people to reject it. These can often be milled down with your CNC to make cheap lumber! I often go to my slab store and walk right past the nice, clean ready to sell slabs and look at what is in the scrap or defect bin. With the right vision, you can find a perfect piece of wood for pennies on the dollar!Here I'm taking a large 4 ft x 19 in x 2 in slab of white oak that I picked up for $25 and I mill it down to a usable slap that is still well over an inch thick. CHEAP CNC Surfacing Bit that performs! Matteson Creations 2021-04-06 | Is there really such thing as a CHEAP CNC surfacing bit that performs? I started my CNC journey with a quality set of Whiteside CNC bits that have been great performers. I added a Whiteside 6220 CNC surfacing bit to my collection which has also performed well. When I started looking at other options for surfacing bits, I found some that were climbing into the $200 and nearly $300 range. I understand you get what you pay for, and am confident most of these bits would do a great job, but also wondered if any of the lower cost bits out there could perform well and get the job done. I've seen people using this cheap, small surfacing bit and after trying it, I was shocked at the cut quality of this little Sugelary bit! The Whiteside bit is also relatively low cost for a 2" bit with 4 cutters on it.
