Movie coming out, but also because I wanted to finally break my haitus...I decided to go with the continuation of my 'use X game soundfont but remix the song' idea that I had a while back. Back before I moved to where I am now, which was like 12 years ago, I had started this song in Mario Paint Composer. I vaguely remember that I was using a soundfont, which was likely the Hard Rock soundfont made by Balloon303. My life situation back then wasn't that great so I actually carried all the files in a small USB Thumb Drive. I didn't have my own internet to work on when making the song, so I commonly used other computers whenever I was able.Well here's the thing. When I did finally move out of that state, I lost that Thumb Drive. So unfortunately everything I was working on back then was lost when I moved. That story out of the way though, I'm glad I remembered that at one point I was working on this song. Perhaps I'll have to do some of the other songs I was working on back then.Anyway, what made me decide to start working on this song again is pretty simple. At one point while making this, I just couldn't quite believe that I was making what I was listening to. I was going to make something else (being Battlerock Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy) but the song was getting to be difficult for various reasons and was giving me headaches. I opted to change to this and was able to bust it out at a decent pace.I ended up altering the soundfont to hit some higher notes with various instruments. Here's the changes made:The Cat ended up being a higher octave combination instrument of both the Boo (doubled up) and Coin. So Mad World, originally made by Tears for Fears back in the 80s. It has had many covers but most iconically covered by Micheal Andrews and Gary Jules. My version here is based more on their version, but I wanted to put my own flair into the song. Some other inspiration was lifted from the Pentatonix version for as far as chords and harmonies may go. After I passed the halfway point, I kinda just threw caution to the wind and finished the song out... fairly quickly. This song only took me like 2 days, probably less than 8 hours actually spent. I don't know how much time specifically. Personally I like how this came out though.One thought that I've had is potentially doing some vocal covers on some songs. I'm going to qualify this as a Halloween Special kind of thing.This was actually requested by a good friend of mine who goes by BrokenWaltz. He said this song was right up my alley stylistically... And so here it is! xDSo, I'm not going to lie... The main song I had done in about, I wanna say like 6 to 8 hours of working on it. And then came the part right before the loop. You know... THAT part. Through all the different messing around with instrument combinations and experimentation, that part took probably just as long as the whole rest of the song took... Effectively doubling the total work done on the song...Initially I was going to go back and do the scream for the intro to the battle as well; but after spending so much time on this already, I was pretty done with the song. lolI did make this song using a customized version of the SMP Original soundfont. The Moon has been lowered by an octave. The Cat and Dog are copies of the lowered Moon but also panned to the Left or Right respectively to give a sense of the back and forth panning in the OST. Last edit made to the soundfont was the Pig being used as another Moon but at yet another octave lower.That all said, let me know what you think down below! Check it:http://discord.supermariopaint.com~ Woof, so what do I say about this one? It's been a LONG time coming. GM72 and I started this one ages ago. We don't even remember exactly when anymore... I know it's been at least 7 years, and I'm leaning towards longer myself. The files we have date as far back as 12/1/2014, but it's a large chunk of files at the same date/time; likely when those files got transferred in some kind of way. I dunno on that part. Initially, this medley was going to be longer, but after almost 6 years of a mix of procrastination, some lost work drive, and simply forgetting about it; this is the final product.This was all originally made in Mario Paint Composer 2.0, but that program has seen better days in terms of stability. I spent the time to redo all of the tempos from MPC to SMP accordingly because the programs handle tempo differently.
