youtu.be/RSayOHnlPxw?si=Bq-cHXmpRnVTCs61Japanese Shoegaze - Part One: The HistoryMusic Is A Journey2025-05-31 | Music Is A Journey takes a step in a new direction, exploring the depth and breadth of the shoegaze scene in Japan. Being a relative newbie to shoegaze music in general, this video has all the innocence and ignorance you'd expect from someone entering the genre for the first time.
The first video digs back to the nineties for the earliest examples of shoegaze in Japan, and tracks the course of the scene through to its true blossoming in the 2000s. Commonly cited albums are considered and weighed for their shoegaziness (by a newbie) as Music Is A Journey tries to understand exactly what constitutes Japanese shoegaze.
The second video will be a review of several albums not mentioned in this video, and the third video will discuss the challenges and disappointments of exploring and collecting shoegaze CDs.Photos and Music from Japan (A Heads-up Video)Music Is A Journey2025-05-08 | Deep down in a rabbit hole, I'll tell you what has been, what is now, and what hereafter will occur. He was doing a series of videos about the elements and only got the first three done.
After recording it, I looked up what the five classical elements were, just to confirm, and I found out I had them wrong. In western culture, they are water, fire, air, and aether. In Chinese, they are fire, water, wood, metal, and earth. Well, I did five, though I mixed the two lists up.
Thanks, Bobby, for the camaraderie! Hope all is well with you.
