In this video, we look at the reactivity of the group 7 elements (halogens). First we look at how the group 7 elements get less reactive as we move down group 7. This is due to how easily the halogen atom attracts an electron into the outer energy level. We look at how this depends on the radius of the atom and the amount of electron shielding. Next we explore the displacement reactions between halogens and halide ions. I show you how to determine the products of a displacement reaction, based on the reactivity of the different halogens.
