I have a source of Free firewood but it's not this. I get mine from friends and tree surgeons that I know but it is tempting when you see lovely logs all seasoned and dry stacked up like this but in the eye's of the law it is theft.
The poor are poor indeed.
In Fact I would go as far as to say we are being enslaved by a system that preys on our needs and our desires. Basic needs like shelter, warmth food, water, clothing etc have been exploited to the Nth degree. Energy bills are through the roof with a big tax harvest applied, the cost of homes especially to those who have to rent is insane with probably 2/3rds of a monthly income consumed just in rent.
I recently read a book called "Villages of the White horse" by Alfred Williams.
Writing in the mid 1920's an agricultural worker earned from 9 to 12 shillings a week and his cottage and garden only cost him 1 shilling a week.
Food was mostly homegrown and most people were quite independent many keeping rural folk also keeping poultry and some even a pig.
Today most of us including myself are more dependant upon energy and food and housing supplied by those with ever greater commercial interests, interests that in truth are sapping our life force bit by bit.
From cradle to grave and a bit beyond there is money that has to be paid to appease this system.
We've fallen foul of it, entrapped by our needs and desires, a system that has been created by the full knowing of others who profit from us the masses. It is all by design.
There is virtually no escape from this prison.
A little respite can be gained by buying less, owning less, growing your own food, heating your home with wood provided you have a good source thats supplied by people who don't want to profit from you. Being content with the simpler things, riding a bicycle.
These things cost little but reward you greatly. But just like most of you reading this I'm as much a prisoner, a slave as the rest of us. I can see the cage, there is no exit but I am able to extend my arms and legs beyond the bars.
