Living Room Music was composed by John Cage for his then-wife Xenia in 1940 (yes, 1940!) and has four parts--"To Begin", "Story", "Melody", and "End". It was made to be played by pretty much anything you can find in a living room, hence the name. The second part, "Story", was made to be spoken or sung. The words are adapted from a poem by Gertrude Stein titled "The World Is Round".
