The "toughness" of this route can be gauged from the fact that, even though it is an inland route, far from the International Borders, it is still maintained by the BRO (Border Roads Organisation). The only way to reach them is to climb up the mountain on your feet. No motor-able roads here. Some of the lakes have dried up due to changing weather patterns, deforestation or maybe due to human activities. The ones which survive are beautiful beyond words. Maybe the difficult access has kept them safe.There are several local legends tied to them and the areas surrounding them. Taking a guide along is a good idea - to not be lost in the woods and also to know more about these legends.Untouched and pristine, the water in these lakes is pure and contamination free.
