The Game ArchivistWe continue in the sage of the Five Nights at Freddy's series as we draw closer to the release of the FNAF movie. Five Nights at Freddy 3 is one of the most unique in the franchise as it takes a very different approach to the well known formula. We find ourselves inside an attraction and have to look at various security cameras again. But this time there is only one animatronic that we have to look out for. Spring Trap is on the lose and moving ever so slowly towards the office. The goal in FNAF 3 is to lure the enemy away by using sound in various rooms. So you always have to figure out where the animatronic is and then start playing the sound in the room next to it to lure it further away from you. But that of course sounds all too easy and things will go wrong while you do this. There will be power outages and that means you will have to reboot various systems which will take time and gives Spring Trap a chance to move closer towards the security office. There are also vents he can climb into which you have to seal in time, otherwise he will have straight access to your location. And finally there are also various ghosts and hallucinations happening which function as the variation of jump scares here. I do think its a bit of a shame that there are not that many animatronics in this game, but the overall pace is way less stressful compared to the earlier two games. Its actually relatively easy to keep Spring Trap from entering your office and I even cleared the last night in one try; something that I could not do with any of the other entries. And so even though I enjoy FNAF 3 for what it is, I do prefer the earlier two games as they just have much more going on with more animatronics and characters. However, I do think that FNAF 3 does the secret lore and minigames way better than the FNAF games before this. There is a good ending you can get and in order to get this, you have to complete various minigames each night and some are really complicated and complex. Its honestly amazing how the FNAF community discovered how to do this as you literally have to scan and click on every pixel on the screen in order to find some of the secrets. Now that is what I call dedication. And so now that we have archived the third FNAF game I now need to take a seat and meditate....because what comes next is arguably the scariest FNAF game ever made.

One of the more anticipated titles is A Quiet Place The Road Ahead. This game has the official license from the movie that was a big hit when it came out a couple of years ago. I only have seen the first one, but really liked it. The premise is very cool and there were some really good scares. Therefore I was excited to return to this setting and see how it would work in a gaming format. The game plays as a first person horror adventure where you will have to avoid the monsters by solving puzzles. Many of the puzzles revovle around finding keys, valves, fuses or objects to pass over a gap. This is nothing new, but the twist here is that you have to be quiet the entire time. And I mean litteraly the entire time. Segments where you have to be stealthy and avoid loud noises isn't something new in horror games, but I have never seen a game where this is required from you constantly. And I think that is both a strength and a weakness. Its a strength since that is the theme that has been pulled straight form the movie. Everything you do in this world has to be done quietly since the monsters can hear you from afar. Every door you open, every valve you turn and even the steps you take have to be quiet. If you are not quiet and make too many loud noises it is automatically game over. And that is where the weakness comes in. Because even though it is fitting for the theme of the movie and its setting, it does make the game very slow sometimes. To the point where a few segments are a bit boring and repetitive. The game looks great and has some really great looking characters too. I was surprised how much story content there was in the first half of the game and those sequences were really interesting. Unfortunately the second half of the game barely has any story or character interaction and I think the game could have benefitted if it had more of those. All in all it is a solid first attempt at bringing A Quiet Place to a gaming form and I cannot wait to see where the road ahead will take us next!

Amanda the Adventurer was a mascot horror game that was very different from other mascot horror games in terms of gameplay. Instead of following a linear story through various stages, you play in a single room and have to solve various puzzles in order to unlock secrets and different endings. By going through various routes you will learn new information that you can use on new runs to unlock more lore and items. Its really cool and rewarding and I remember how the community would go wild on the various secrets to unlock. I am sure that the sequel will have plenty of secrets for us all to unravel and I hope yet again that the community comes together ans one so that we can all enjoy the new story. See you soon, Amanada!

I have archived the main story in the past, but the game is getting monthly updates that introduce new stories and characters. This time the story revolves around a gym fanatic known as Rumani who is tasked with helping a girl named Nadia. Nadia is was a track and field athlete, but after surgery now has to go through rehabilitation to walk again. The story is cute and the new characters are fine additions to the roster. The story itself might not be as exciting as other sub stories in the past, but I love the theme of gym fanatics since I also go to the gym regularly. ( I kinda have to since my job involves a lot of gaming ) These little updates always offer nice, little snacks and I look forward to see what the next update holds in store for us.

That has finally changed with Ys X Nordics as I went on an epic adventure with character Adol and Karja. This game takes a northern Viking theme as its setting and you get to explore various islands while traveling by boat. There are a lot of customizable options for you to play around with. You can upgrade your boat in various ways and recruit new crew members. You then go and liberate villages and explore dungeons to stop the threat of the Griegr. The unique thing here is that Ys X offers a system where you can control both main characters at the same time. While you hold the trigger down, the two characters will be linked and each attack will be performed by both at once. You also have access to brand new special attacks and the guard can be used in a parry as well. The traversal of the world is also very cool where you have a handy grappling hook and a mana board which you can use to surf over water or mana strings. The movement is fluid and responsive and the combat is fast paced and visceral. All the characters are lovely and there is often also a cozy atmosphere when you are setting sail on the blue ocean. Probably the weakest point of the game is how the enviroments look. Though the characters look great and detailed, many of the enviroments lack that detail and I hope that in the next title they will let us explore areas that are not just interesting, but also look amazing.

Recently I was invited by the sweet people of Reef Entertainment to visit London and attend a preview event for Falcom and NIS's upcoming games. One of those games was Legend of Heroes Trails Through Daybreak 2. The English version of this game will release in 2025 and I had a chance to play and record the very first dungeon you get to experience. Now I can finally share my footage with you that was recorded on the Nintendo Switch. One of the highlights is that it adds more gameplay to the real-time combat where you have new moves available to make it feel more varied. The story of course continues from Trails 1 and all the beloved characters make their return. It was an amazing experience to be able to travel to London and attend this event and I hope you all will enjoy this exclusive sneak peek of Trails Through Daybreak 2.

Silent Hill 2 is such a beloved title by all and to me personally it is the best horror game ever made. Not necessarily the scariest, but the best in overal atmosphere, story and motives. Every character is layered and every enemy functions as a metaphor to deepen the story. Therefore I was very excited when it was revealed that they would remake the game after so many years. It was up to Bloober Team to do this and I think that was a great choice. I love Layers of Fear and especially Observer is fantastic. Unfortunately there was some critique leading up to the release which I thought was kind of ridiculous. People stumbled apparently about the look of some of the characters, but it was never the look of the characters that defined if the classic Silent Hill 2 was good or not. It were the character's stories, the plot twists, the creepy imagery and memorable soundtrack. I am happy to say that this remake has succeeded in paying tribute to the original and even, dare I say, do some things better! Two things that come to mind that this game does better are the exploration of Silent Hill itself and the boss battles all have improved. The game is a lot longer than the original and that gives the world room and time to breathe. You can now visit and explore various buildings that you could never enter in the original. And all the bosses are present, but with new mechanics and new enviroments to make them more exciting. Because even though the classic Silent Hill 2 is fantastic, its combat is very clunky and that especially shows in the boss battles. They all come down to moving around in a small room and then standing still and go through a clunky animation where James fires his weapon. All the main areas you get to visit are also massively expanded and the puzzles that you have to solve are fantastic and feel very reminiscent of those old school horror games from the 90's and early 2000's. It even pays homage to those of us who played the original many times by showcasing familiar areas and a sound effect to acknowledge that we have experienced that before. I also loved that you had way more interactions with certain characters like Maria. It adds more depth to her fascinating character and I also think the portrayal of Angela and Eddie are great. All in all I am so happy that this remake turned out so great and I think it can stand tall next to its original big brother. I've heard some people who played it complain about the backtracking with certain puzzles or if you find a key item, but that is what oldschool horror survival was all about. I honestly did not really have any complaints. Maybe a line delivery here or there could have been better, but its just an absolute fantastic product and a labor of love. Well done, Bloober Team. You managed to bring Silent Hill 2 home.

This time we team up with 3 other AI team mates and partake in 25 missions for none other than General Johnny Rico. Rico is voiced by the actual actor who portrayed him in the movie, but unfortunately the presentation is a bit lackluster. You are simply looking at still images instead of cutscenes and I hope to see some improvements in upcoming updates since they will release more chapters. The gameplay itself was fine, though I wish they had focused on other missions besides just the cave missions. You will head into a tunnel system 25 times and will have to do various objectives. This can vary from retrieving datapads to helping a pinned down squad. It lacks the scale of the epic fights you can have in multiplayer and there are unfortunately also quite a lot of bugs technically. I had multiple times where AI team mates got stuck or even essential team mates like a unit you need to escort. Thereby forcing me to restart a mission. The multiplayer for this game is quite solid and does offer that cool and badass feeling of Starship Troopers. I hope in the upcoming updates they can bring a bit of that feeling to the singleplayer experience as well.

We work together with the Pyro Archon once again to stop an invasion of monsters on an unseen scale. Though the episode starts a bit slow in the beginning, it builds up to a magnificent climax with a really epic conflict with some dark twists and turns. I was really impressed with this second half of the story and it felt cool to travel all across the area and help out in this massive battle that was raging on. Unfortunately this update did have one issue which is that certain characters did not have any voice overs. The reason for this is a strike that has been going on amongst English voice actors and two of the characters in Genshin have been impacted by this. It does take you out of the story when one character suddenly isn't talking in a conversation, but hopefully this will be resolved in upcoming updates.

This gem of a game tells a mysterious story of an overseer who lives in a small apartment in Poland. The streets outside are empty, the sky is grey and mysterious voices can be heard over the radio. As each day passes more mysterious and sinister things start happening and it all builds up to a really, surprising and creepy climax. I loved the atmosphere in this game. I have a soft spot for these Eastern European games that are set in their small apartments. They transport me to such a different atmosphere and its weirdly cozy to me. In this game you also interact with the other inhabitants of the apartment and it feels like you are really part of a little community. I think it would have been cool to have maybe a bit more room to explore like the floor below or outsides, but other than that its a great story that just builds and builds. The world is beautiful and very detailed with the main character commenting on all the small objects in his viscinity.

This year is the 10th anniversary of this rare demo and so I thought it was appropriate to archive it once more. The importance of P.T. and how it changed the modern landscape of horror games cannot be understated. Even though it was only a short demo, the style, type of jumpscares and pacing has seeped its way in so many games that came after. Many still consider it the scariest game ever made and to me it felt awesome to be able to play the original version. Over the years community members have made remakes and homages of this game in both Unreal and in Dreams. And though it's very cool that modern gamers now also have a chance to see what P.T. was somewhat about, it's not the actual original demo and there are slight differences. Now that of course is not an issue, but I have seen other YouTubers play those versions and claim in their title that the version that they are playing is the REAL or ORIGINAL P.T. which is simply not the case. This game still looks great today and had me on the edge of my seat despite knowing what scary things were coming my way. The sound design is one of the best and you can even see how the seeds were planted for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding as that project was done with various celebrities who would work on the Silent Hills project. Playing P.T. nowadays really makes it feel like I am playing a lost relic. Its one of those games that justifies me working as The Game Archivist and presenting you with games that are long gone. So do yourself a favor and grab a bag of popcorn and a soda and get ready for a spooky, good time!

There are plenty of horror games to archive, but after archiving Until Dawn I wanted another adventure in a similar fashion. The Quarry is regarded Supermassive's best work after Until Dawn. They also made the Dark Anthology series, but those were all short stories and did not give the characters enough time to breath. In The Quarry it is better, though the cast of characters did not grip me as much as those in Until Dawn. There's a few who are great like Laura, Kaitlyn, Travis and Ryan. There are some great scares in here and the story takes twists and turns that I definitely did not see coming. There are also more choices that you can make that do alter the way the story unfolds compared to other games of this nature. However, the ending is quite lackluster when it concludes how all the characters faired. I hope someday Supermassive will be able to make a game that surpasses Until Dawn which is currently still their masterpiece.
#thequarry #gaming #supermassivegames #horrorgaming #halloween #thequarrywalkthroughLegend of Heroes Trails Through Daybreak | Full Game Walkthrough | No CommentaryThe Game Archivist2024-10-02 | Today we archive a very special game. I came across the Legend of Heroes games for a while on Steam, but never had experienced any of them. The style looked really cool and there were many titles in the series. So a few weeks back I decided to take the plunge and have my very first experience with The Legend of Heroes Trails Through Daybreak. And I am very glad I did as the expereince was absolutely awesome. Trails Through Daybreak tells an epic story where we play as Van Arkride. Van has a job that is similar to a private detective. People can hire us to do some dirty work that the official channels like the Guild or Police cannot do. One day we meet the lovely Agnes and stumble upon a sinister organistion known as Almata. Members of this organisation are popping up throughout different cities and it is up to us to stop them. The game has a lovely vibe and atmosphere and a setting I really haven't seen in any other RPG. Its a mixture of the modern metropolis like Tokyo or Dubai mixed in with more ancient cultures from medieval Japan and Germany. You will be spending a lot of time in these different cities doing quests and side jobs and this is where the game truly shines. Its so incredibly relaxing and cozy to just explore and traverse through these cities and perform the tasks you are given. A lot of the quests revolve around dialogue and luckily the writing is superb. Even the most mundane sounding sidequest often has a twist written in that make you tear up by the end of it. The cities feel alive and bustling and each feel unique with different stores, NPC's and even unique food you can purchase at the different vendors. It made me excited each time we would visit a new city as I was curious what the cultural inspiration would be next and to experience a brand new atmosphere. The combat system has also been reworded from earlier games in the series and now has a mix between real time battles and turn based. The real time battles are simple and responsive where you can quickly deal damage to trash mobs in dungeons while the turn based battles offer more strategy with bosses or forced encounters. There is quite a lot to learn here and it took me a few chapters into the game to fully understand all the mechanics. In that sense this game can still be seen as a great entryway for newcomers to the series. From what I understand there will be a few revisiting characters from other Legend of Heroes games, but a lot of the world and its lore is explained for those that are new. The cast of characters is wonderful and you will meet a lot of them. There are also some hilarious moments that had me laugh for a good while as the dialogue and responses can definitely take you by surprise. Probably the weakest point about the game is its lack of voice acting in some parts. There are cutscenes where its fully voiced and those are fine, but there are other sequences where during a conversation between multiple characters only one is fully voiced while the others are silent. So someone will be actually talking with voice acting and then the response will be silent with only the text showing up. That took me out of the dialogue every time and I think it would have been better to either go fully silent for the cutscenes where they did not have all the actors at the ready. Other than that it was an amazing experience and I am so glad I finally took the plunge and got introduced to this wonderful world and all these amazing characters. I will definitely see them all again in Trails Through Daybreak 2.

The first trailer promised a very original take on the horror genre as we get to play a role as a zoo staff member and get to take care of various animals including giraffes, zebras, penguins and more. But something is lurking in the shadows and it seems that many of the animals have been infected with some sort of monstrous creature. They start to show various symptoms and eventually even mutate into a giant behemoth straight out of The Thing. It is up to us to discover what the symptoms are and diagnose what sort of antidote to give them so that they can recover. You do this by using vaious gadgets to measure their temperature, sound etc. In that regard it has a similar feel to Phasmophobia, but in a much cuter setting. The animals look really good with great models and awesome animations. You can even pet them and every time I stepped into a new zone I was amazed by how great they looked. The real highlight of the game is how many secrets there are to find. There are quite a few endings to get and they all vary depending on the choices that you make. And even a small choice can have big consequences like picking up a phone or ignoring given orders. There is so much to discover and it offers great replay value as you find new ways to tackle the challenges that lay in wait. Its a great achievement by this studio and I cannot wait to see what they have next for us in the future.

We finally get some backstory on our main character and get to explore a brand new area in the form of the Black Shores. Here we meet the gorgeous Shorekeeper and together with her we try to get rid of a spreading corruption. New gameplay mechanics were introduced in the form of portals which was very cool to see. The puzzles in the main story are not that challenging as you usually have only two portals to choose from, but it was a neat little mechanic that I think fits the game well. Shorekeeper is definitely one of the best characters they have introduced yet and overal I am really curious where the story of Wuthering Waves will head to next.

The first game was archived a couple of weeks back and showed a promising start of the bunny Hopper and his friends. We play as Jamie who explores the hotel belonging to Jamie's father and along the way we run into all types of mascots. I'm happy to say that Hopper's Hotel 2 is pretty much an improvement in all aspects compared to chapter 1. The best thing about it is that there is much more focus on showing the actual mascots and having them interact with the player. There are actually quite a few mascot horror games out there that don't show the mascots enough. But here we have several face to face conversations, chase sequences and even parts where friendly mascots will follow us. There were also some cool puzzles with bouncing pads, though I did have my fair share with one of them. All in all I am happy to see an improvement and I'm curious to see how chapter 3 will improve upon this.
#hoppershotel2 #gaming #hoppershotel #mascothorror #gartenofbanban #fnaf #horrorgamingUntil Dawn | Full Game Walkthrough | No CommentaryThe Game Archivist2024-09-26 | Today we archive an absolute horror classic. Until Dawn was a mega hit back when it released in 2015 and I have fond memories of this game and associate it with the Golden Age of YouTube Let's Players. So many of my favorite YouTubers played this game back in the day and I remember those days fondly. And today it is up to me to add this game to the archives and it was an absolute joy to play and record Supermassive's masterpiece. It plays much like a quicktime adventure game in the style of Heavy Rain or Telltale's The Walking Dead. This means that you walk around with various characters and make choices that alter the story while action setpieces are done by pressing the correct button at the correct time prompt. Supermassive have made many games in this same style afterwards, but none have surpassed Until Dawn with how great the story is, how good the scares are and how surprisingly likeable the cast of characters is. I still cannot lay my finger on it, but Until Dawn does a great job of making you care for the characters, even though at the beginning of the game they are quite annoying. Almost everyone that I have talked to agrees that the characters make a weak impression in the first hour or so of playing the game, but by the end you are rooting for all of them to make it out. Well...maybe except Emily. The story is also great with multiple layers as different storylines are interwoven into the plot. It has many different types of horror including traps as seen in the movie Saw, paranormal horror involving ghosts, slasher horror and also creature horror. There is even a set of characters that make it feel like you are watching an episode of Scooby Doo. Some of the jumpscares are absolutely amazing and a handful still got me this time, even though I had seen the game before. I cannot praise this game enough. Probably the weakest part in the game are that sometimes choices don't actually matter at all and you still get the same outcome. But that is a common thing with games like this and I would argue that Until Dawn might be the best in its genre. I think that Heavy Rain was a more revolutionary game, but that game has aged a bit poorly with a lot of boring segments like brushing your teeth, setting up the table etc. This year we will also get a remake of Until Dawn so I hope to revisit this snowy mountains again with this group of friends and see what new content and scares have been added. See you soon, everyone!

This was made by a fellow Youtuber and was an instant hit. It presented us with a charming theme park labeled Indigo Park with Rambley the Raccoon as its cute mascot. Together with a digital Rambley we explored the park, experienced various attractions and even were confronted by a few lesser friendly mascots. Chapter 2 will be available next year, but recently the first chapter was remastered and updated with new content. They added new visuals, new areas, new puzzles, a new minigame and even some new secrets. Therefore I thought it would be cool to visit the park once more and this time archive it in glorious 4K. There are plenty mascot horror games out there and some feel like the developers just want to make a quick buck, but Indigo Park really showcases that love and attention to detail was put into this product. Therefore I have faith in its sequel and can say that Indigo Park can hold its head high next to its bigger brothers and sisters like FNAF, Poppy and Garten of Banban. Next year I will come and visit again, Rambley!

The Game Archivist has finally reached 200.000 subscribers and that of course calls for a celebration! And what better place to do that than Freddy's Pizzeria? Thank you al so much for the support over the past few years and I hope to bring you many more awesome games to enjoy. Last year I already had archived the VR game Five Nights at Freddy's Help Wanted 2, but a few months back this game received an update where you can also play it without a VR headset. This is known as the Flat mode and I decided to also archive that version since it is easier to watch for some viewers. It was awesome to get back into the game and see how it changed compared to the VR edition. Some minigames have actually become more difficult while others are easier to control. Games like the shooting gallery and bowling are much easier while the operation minigame is more difficult. It was also great that you can now roam freely through the hub area and see everything crystal clear. Help Wanted 2 is easily one of the best FNAF games out there as there is such great variety with its minigames and its settings. So many fan favorites return like Roxy and Pirate Foxy and I love what Steelwool Studios is doing with the franchise. I was so happy to learn that they are working on another FNAF game during the anniversary event and I cannot wait to see what Freddy and friends have in store for us in 2025.

I love playing Fighting games from time to time and there are plenty on offer. SNK Heroines was a game I had not heard of before and thought that was a perfect reason to archive it so that others will know about it too. With SNK Heroines you will choose from a roster of female characters from the SNK fighter series and battle it out in a dream world created by a mysterious enemy. Therefore there is nothing really at stake here or important for the overall story, but it still delivers a nice snack for fighting lovers as the battles are quick and vibrant with plenty of cool gimmicks like items you can use during the battle. Also in order to win a match you actually have to use a finisher, which sometimes creates a bit of tension at the end when both combatants are prone to be hit with a finishing move. It sometimes gets maybe a bit too wacky for some, but overall its a nice, little snack that I got during the Steam sale which was entertaining.

There are not many unfortunately, but in 2020 a game was released that was titled No One Lives Under The Lighthouse. This was a horror game that used graphics inspired by the PlayStation 1 era and told the story of a Lighthouse Keeper who was sent over to an island were previous employers went missing. I already archived this game over two years ago, but it has since then been updated with a Director's Cut and has about 40+ minutes of new gameplay added. Despite the low poly graphics I adore this game and its atmosphere and it actually at times feels like a pretty relaxing adventure game. But there are also plenty of good scares and the story takes twists and turns which you will not expect. I decided to present the game also in glorious 4K which might be a little ironic since the graphics themselves are so low poly that it does not feel like a 4K experience. Nevertheless I still love this game and hope to maybe someday get a remake in Unreal Engine 5 or at least other horror games that have a lighthouse as their setting.

Over the past few years we have actually gotten a surprising number of cat games like Stray, Cat Quest and Little Kitty, Big City. But today we have Copycat which is possibly the closest to playing a game where it actually feels like we are a cat. Its a heartwarming story of a cat that gets adopted by an old lady named Olive. She has lost her previous cat and names us Dawn. In the beginning we are still quite scared of her and don't get along at all. But as time goes on we grow attached to Olive until one day we are thrown outside by her daughter. Now its up to us to find our way back home and reunite with Olive. There were a lot of times in this game where it actually made me tear up a bit and I was surprised with how emotional the story was. It deals with subjects like grief and loss, but also love and a sense of belonging. Cat lovers will undoubtedly laugh and cry while playing this. There are also some great moments where you see that the developers truly understand cat behavior or have had experience with cats. Snuggling up in a big cardboard box or bringing birds and other animals to proudly show off to their owner. I actually had cats that did the exact same thing and playing this reminded me of those cute, little rascals. Currently I have one cat and she is the first cat that we ever adopted and she is a Calico Cat which is why for this playthrough I decided to pick this particular one. Her name is Mochi and she can be quite a diva when it comes to what type/brand of food she gets and that also comes up in this game. It was so fun to recognize all those cat tropes and it made me cuddle up with my cat every time I was done with a session of Copycat. So if you love cats or are an animal person in general, you will definitely love this game. Its a good year to be a cat!

This is the same developer who made the amazing Backrooms 1998 game and Baby Blues is his first try at a mascot horror game. It takes inspirations from games like Among The Sleep as we play as a child looking for our stuffed animals. A monster called Red Belly is hunting us down and we have to use stealth and our wits to stay out of its way. The buildup of the game is great and the first half our are very suspensful and atmospheric with great scares and tension. Then halway through it changes into a more open area game where you need to collect 5 key items while avoding a patrolling enemy. It feels therefore a bit like Backrooms 1998 and you have to solve various puzzles in order to get the key items. You can do these in any order and the freedom feels very nice. There are even optional things you can do like find parts for a vehicle that you can customize. The game was at times very scary and made me jump, but I do think I am more a fan of the tightly scripted first half and hope to see more of that type of gameplay from the creator in the future.

Therefore I thought it would be an awesome idea to archive the entire season in one video so you can see the evolution in the gameplay, graphics and scares. These five games have been made in the span of over two years and its amazing to see how drastically has changed. The first release of Home Alone gives you a nice taste of what's to come and the type of thrills we can expect. It feels more like a tech demo and then gets more fleshed out with the second episode's release. But where the series truly starts to shine is from the third episode Carson House and onward. Each episode has such a unique atmosphere and storyline and combine scares with everyday and mundane stuff. Its a combination that works surprisingly well and has even spawned games inspired by Fears To Fathom. I love the realistic aspect of not having to deal with demons, ghosts or other monsters and the situations and characters are believable and relatable. The games often do a great job of raising eyebrows when it comes to various figures you run into and it has some of the most effective jump scares I have ever seen. With the season now coming to its end I cannot help to wander what direction the talented developer will head to next.

These horror games distinct themselves by providing a scary experience in an everyday enviroment. This time we play as Sydney who works for a large consultant company. We finally understand that we need a break and invite a few friends on a trip to a small hut in the snowy town of Woodbury. And while things start out cozy it does not take long before some strange characters start to show up. Woodbury Getaway is by far the langest and most ambitious game in the Fears to Fathom games and it also focuses on a new kind of vibe. Despit the game still being scary here and there, the overal vibe is quite cozy and relaxing. It was a nice change of pace and I actually really enjoyed the mundane things like cooking, fishing or playing board games with my friends. The scene at the pizzeria was also very lively and atmospheric. I'd love to see more of these atmospheric areas in upcoming games from this developer. Probably the biggest letdown with the game was that the ending sequence was quite buggy and it soft locked me twice while I was doing the correct thing that I was supposed to. I also found this the least scary game in the series and I think that's because I have gotten used to the Fears To Fathom scaring method. I could see many scares coming from a mile away, though towards the end there is an amazing and creepy moment involving a text message. I salute the developer for making such an impactful series on the horror genre and I cannot wait to see what comes next!

Age of Mythology was a huge hit back in the day as it continued the satisfying gameplay loop of the RTS Age of Empires. But this time it switched things up by introducing mythological creatures and god powers that you could use. This resulted in the different factions being even more varied and had an awesome campaign where you would meet up with various famous figures from the different epics. What I have always loved about the gameplay mechanics of the Age series is that it gives the player room to build their base and take their time. In the mid 2000's it was suddently very popular for a lot of RTS games to skip the base building and fully focus on the combat. But I found that quite annoying and I am glad to see that this satisfying element of building up my base is still in tact in this game. Maybe someday I will archive the game completely when I have finished the campaign.

I still own a copy for the Xbox 360 and I remember this fondly from when I was in highschool. Soul Calibur really got worldwide acclaim when it released in the era of the Gamecube, PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. The cool thinga bout the fighting games was that each console got their own unique special character that was exlcusive to that console. The PS2 got Heihachi from Tekken, Xbox got Spawn for whatever reason and the Gamecube had the best entry with Link from The Legend of Zelda. This time they did something similar as well, but with Star Wars characters. The Xbox 360 got Yoda and the PlayStation 3 got Darth Vader. Now later they were actually added to both versions via paid DLC, but for a while they were actually exclusive. Soul Calibur's fighting style and gameplay really is some of the best in the fighting genre. Moves are quick and the animations run into each other very smoothly. Soul Calibur always focuses on characters using weapons and there is a lot of variety here as well. The big thing about Soul Calibur 4 was that you were able to make your own avatar and face the other opponents with your very own creation. For this video I went through the story mode of all the standard characters.

Waffle Cone Willie tells the story of a haunted Ice Cream Truck that roams the streets of a suburban neighborhood. We are tasked with finding various pieces of an artifact to stop Willie once and for all. The cool thing about this game is the enviroment that you get to explore. Quite a large area of a nice suburban neighborhood is open where you can enter various houses and solve different puzzles. In the demo you are safe as long you are inside a house and you can take that time to catch your breath, read lore items or solve puzzles. There are still some scares, but you are not in danger. Once you head outside and are on the streets you have to listen carefully if you hear Willie's tune as he patrols around. Once he sees you he will pursue you until you head inside a house. It really makes for an interesting gameplay mechanic where you can be more relaxed indoors while having suspense and thrilling chases outdoors. The houses themselves are also very detailed and the town feels surprisingly pretty and relaxing. Most horror games take place in old, ruined buildings with the same brown and grey hallways, but this is actually a very beautiful and green setting. I love it and this demo made a really good first impression. I cannot wait for the full release in October.

This time we find ourselves in a dark mine instead of the hotel and a whole bunch of entities lay in wait to come and get us. Floor 2 is pretty much bigger and bolder in every regard. Bigger rooms, bigger monsters, bigger bosses etc. Though I do like some of the new mechanics like the generator rooms or the minecart chase, I do have to say that I prefer Doors Floor 1 in many ways. Especially the pacing in the first 100 floors is better as there are sometimes rooms in Floor 2 that take very long to complete and can even bug out. I had several bugs that cost me a run while recording this, which is why I will return to the game and hopefully complete it when it is better patched. When I recorded the first Doors that had already been patched to perfection and it seems like this still has some issues that need solving. Especially room 150 can be really annoying when the radar beep bugs out. I love the premise of having to turn on the switches while avoiding the Grumbles, but it was just very exhausting to do that over and over again and then have to deal with the bugs. The same happened during the second Seek chase where the blue guiding light can bug out, which can be fatal since you are dependent on this blue light. In fact you are more focused on the blue light than on the actual enviroment and that goes the same for the minecart chase. All in all I think Doors Floor 2 is a worthy addition, but I hope that the developers don't forget that sometimes less is more.

The original Space Marine game was one of the best Warhammer 40K games out there and I was always sad that we did not get to see a sequel. But The Emperor and the year of 2024 have blessed us finally with a worthy sequel to Captain Titus' story. And not only is it a worthy sequel, it might actually be the BEST Warhammer 40K game that has ever released and I don't say that lightly. We follow Captain Titus who returns to serve under the banner of the Ultramarines. This time he is sent to multiple planets that are infested with the Tyranid swarm. But of course nothing is as it seems and a mysterious and dangerous power is lurking from the shadows and moving the pieces on the board. The fact that you are facing against Tyranids this time means a big change for the gameplay. In Space Marine 1 you were facing off against maybe a dozen Orks at a time, but this time you will fight hundreds of Tyranids each time. It feels more like a horde based action game as you are often tasked with defending a certain perimeter while holding off the unending swarm of enemies. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and it is magnificent to behold. Not only the character models themselves, but especially the vistas of the ever raging war are awesome. You get to fight besides the Cadian soldiers and you really feel that you are part of a bigger battle involving millions of troops. Most Warhammer 40K games do not manage to convey the epic scale of the battles, but Space Marine 2 does manage to donvey this and undoubtedly does it the best. I have never seen this much of a spectacle on the screen with swarms of Tyranids fighting against infantry, tanks and planes. It's glorious! And even later on in the final chapters of the game there are some incredibly epic moments as you fight beside fan favorite types of units that get the blood pumping. This game is great for both newcomers of Warhammer 40K and also veterans who know all the lore. There is plenty of fan service and also calmer moments on the crew ships where you get to take in the atmosphere. The game can also be played in co-op and overall Space Marine 2 is just the ultimate Warhammer 40K package. I hope the game will be a great success, because it showcases how epic and awesome Warhammer 40K games can be when they are done right. For the Emperor!!!

One of those games is Deadpool which released back in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox One and PC. But many years later you cannot get the PC version anymore and physical versions of the games are also rare to come by. But luckily I found one copy of the PlayStation 4 version at the convention and I was so happy to add cheeky Deadpool to my collection and archives. It was the very first time for me to experience the game and it had me laughing all the way through. Deadpool is an action adventure game where we play as the Merc with the Mouth and the real highlight of this game are its amazing cutscenes, easter eggs and overall dialogue. The game is constantly breaking the fourth wall and even commenting on the skill of the player. Some segments are incredible with how many voice lines they added in of which the most famous example is the slapping of Wolverine. As I played the PS4 version the game ran buttery smooth and the action is visceral and tight. You can unlock plenty of combos, weapons and perks and in general the game is just a ton of fun. Its not very long, so its a perfect snack and definitely delivers on the typical Deadpool humor. I love that the developers and even Deadpool's voice actor don't take themselves too seriously and make fun of themselves too. Probably my biggest problem with the game is that the enviroments feel a bit bland with plenty of brown and grey hallways you are running through. Genosha is probably the most appealing area. But despite that the game had me smiling from ear to ear and with the success of the Deadpool movies I wonder if we ever get another awesome Deadpool game in the future. One can hope!

Everyone remembers the first trailer that was shown where it ran on the incredible Unreal Engine 5. We saw a tiny monkey warrior fight an enormous beast and four years later we get to play that confrontation ourselves. Black Myth is a huge game for China as it tells a beloved tale of the Monkey King and also puts Triple A gaming by Chinese company on a global scale. Many believed this game to be a souls like experience, but it also shares elements of other genres and feels like its own, unique game. The real draw to me personally is the beautiful and mystical setting. I have to admit I am not very familiar with Journey To The West or the Monkey King in general, but this game really made me want to dive into the lore and mythos of the Monkey King. It surprised me how much this old tale has inspired popular manga like Dragonball or even One Piece. There are plenty of other games, movies and comics depicting the Monkey King, so I definitely plan on delving deeper into this awesome setting, but Black Myth was an amazing introduction. It shows the power of gaming and what it can do to introduce certain audiences to cultures and history and make them interested in that certain subject. The intro actually has us playing as the Monkey King Sun Wukong as we battle the armies of Heaven and get trapped into a stone. Then thereafter we play as a different monkey and have to collect six relics in order to become the new embodiment of Sun Wukong once more. Along the way we meet up with all kinds of mystical creatures and characters that take part in the original Monkey King story. The game starts out a little light on story and actually jumps pretty drastically from chapter to chapter, but from chapter 3 and onward you actually get to meet some characters that stick with you and make the story easier to understand. For me the highlight was definitley the little pig Zhu Baije. He was so grumpy, but also so cute with his little posture. I loved seeing him waddle around and wreck enemies with his rake. You traverse through different biomes and have to beat enemies, find treasure and help npcs on side quests. But the main attraction point of the game in my opinion are the bosses. And there are so many of them and almost all of them are unique and different. There's a few that get reused multiple times like the frogs, but almost all other bosses never get reused and have their own unique look and feel. In that way it does bosses even better than a game like Elden Ring where so many bosses get reused. The creativity in the type of bosses are also amazing and you will fight things and creatures that go beyond your imagination. There are even many optional and secret bosses that are some of the most amazing boss fights in gaming period. Probably the weakest part of the game is sometimes its level design where a lot of invisible walls make it confusing or obnoxious on where you can go explore or not. Later chapters have more open areas, but you will still run into an invisible wall around every other corner. But other than that the game had great pacing and every few minutes it had a new and awesome boss to offer. The game was quite difficult, but not impossible. There were maybe 3 bosses or so that were really difficult, but other than that it was all doable yet challenging and satisfying. I'm glad that Black Myth is doing so well and hope to see more awesome games with original settings like this!

I was excited to find out that a sequel was in the making and that it continues the story of David and the danger that still haunts him. This demo offers a look at the first chapter of the game and I love it already. The first game was very dark and somber and I was glad to see a few moments where you were actually in normal, colorful areas. It created a sense of calm between the scary and tense moments and the escape room style puzzles were also an awesome addition. From the demo it looks like the sequel will be better in every regard, so I cannot wait to archive the game when it is fully released!

This time the game has upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 with way better graphics and some extra content for Nights 1 - 3. But the main course consists of the two chapters after the first three nights as they have been completely redone with new content, gameplay and scares. It was great to revisit the original content with a new coat of paint and some of the new puzzles also had me spin around for a moment. The coolest addition is the actual rabbit plushie that takes a bigger role. Previously you were supposed to "follow the white rabbit", but that merely referred to an icon of a rabbit. This time the stuffed animal actually comes to life and tries to help you. The bunny is absolutely adorable and I honestly hope that it will have a bigger role in upcoming updates too. I think its a great and cute addition to NEWT and the black cat. Some of the new scares were really effective too and overal this just feels like the definitive version of what Baby In Yellow is supposed to be. The developers have promised a new chapter sometime soon that will continue the story, so I cannot wait to see what will happen next!

I only started playing Genshin Impact last year, but I am so happy to see the main story continued as we travel to an entirely new area known as Natlan. Natlan is the nation of fire and that means its themes are inspired by African and Polynesian cultures. The new area is beautiful and vibrant and its always such a joy to experience Genshin Impact with a brand new coat of paint and atmosphere. It does not take long before we run into the adorable Kachina who wants to participate in a Pilgrimage to become a hero. We get to participate in a giant tournament and even travel to the Abyss. Fontaine was very story heavy with a focus on detective work and puzzle solving and Natlan has its share of combat again. What is really cool is that there are segments during the tournament where you get to control the trial characters that are new to the game. The highlight for me was the visit to the hotspring village where the character Mualani is from. Mualani is also a welcome addition to the character roster and I am reminded yet again why I love Genshin Impact so much. Its not only the characters, but the gorgeous world that you get to explore as well. There are some excellent fighting cutscenes as well and overall it was a great entry to the Genshin saga. It definitely feels like an introduction and so I cannot wait what the next chapter has in store for us.

Where the action itself and the weapon types can be compared to other games like Doom, Quake or Wolfenstein, the big difference is the addition of massive co-op within the campaigns. Up to 16 people can actually play this game together and the game will adjust the amount of enemies to the number of people joining. That means that absolute chaos will ensue and it is glorious. For this playthrough me and two buddies decided to tackle the campaign with the three of us and we fight our way through thousands of enemies. It's really quite impressive how many enemies there are sometimes on your screen and I heard they did even more in Serious Sam 4. The story is pretty much forgettable, but you don't play these games for the story. You play them to rip and tear and that is exactly what you do. Though it sometimes takes it sweet time with introducing new weapons, it does introduce a new enemy type very often wich adds to the variety of the fighting. Locations are also more varied since you now will also fight in massive cities instead of the desert and tombs. There are a few levels that are underground or indoors in narrow corridors and that was undoubtedly the weakest part in this game. Visually its not very interesting and it can sometimes be confusing or a bit repetitive. But other than that Serious Sam 3 has withstood the test of time and is a great snack for any boomer out there or those of us who just enjoy FPS games.

In the past I have already archived the game Call of Duty Black Ops, but one aspect I have not yet covered is the popular Zombies mode. The Zombies mode was introduced with CoD World at War and has evolved ever since. I never got the chance to play this with friends back when I was young, but now we get to settle the score! So a few buddies joined me as we fight our way through hordes of zombies in the main game and all the DLC. It was cool to see how the formula changed every time and how certain gimmicks or gameplay mechanics were introduced. One level has you start in black and white and after you pull a certain switch, it shifts to color. Another stage has a gigantic zombie George Romero roam around the map while you are fighting against the regular horde. And in a level in space you have to deal with zero gravity. The mode is just a lot of fun and great to play together. I do wish there was an ending you are working towards to complete a certain level or story. The mode is of course about seeing how far you can get in terms of rounds, but I love it if there is actually a goal you can work towards and exit or have the choice to continue to see how long you last. The maps and gameplay is definitely a step up compared to World at War, but I am not certain where the Zombies mode peaked. I believe some say its Black Ops 2 while others say its Black Ops 3. But since I love the Zombies mode so much, I am sure we will get together again and fight the zombies in the sequels too and then we have an answer to that question!

Lovecraft horror and though there are a few games out there that use the mythos created by the horror writer, many of them are not that great. Therefore it was such a huge surprise to me that one of the best Cthulhu games out there is this small indie title called The Shore. I have already archived this over two years ago on the channel, but hope to now introduce it to a wider audience since this game deserves it and present it in glorious 4K. It was made by a very small studio and absolutely blew me away with the portrayal of the otherworldly creatures that you get to see here. It starts out very silent and calm as you explore a small island with a lighthouse. It feels almost a bit like Myst as you solve various, small puzzles and read notes that were left behind. But the game soon turns into something different and even introduces combat and chase sequences and it had me guessing where it went every time. There were quite a few things I forgot when I played this again two years later and it was an absolute joy to experience it once more. This is a must-play for any horror or Lovecraft fans out there.

It does not take long before mysterious things start to happen. We manage to see a very tall, scary man on the security monitors. Who is he? What does he want? He becomes more of a menace as the night goes along. The atmosphere in this game was incredibly tense and some of the scares were really effective. Previously I archived Final Fantasy 14 and several of its expansions, but have not come around yet to archive any of the other titles. Today we change that with Final Fantasy XVI. This game was a PlayStation 5 exclusive title and I actually purchased a PS5 for this game. And it definitely did not dissapoint. The game's story and themes are heavily inspired by Game of Thrones and the creators openly admit to that. And so what that means is that this is the most brutal Final Fantasy yet with some dark themes and twists thrown into the mix. We play as Clive who we follow through several points in his lifetime where various factions are waging war using these giant beasts of mass destruction. But chance would have it that Clive possesses the power of one of the most powerful beasts of all: Ifrit. And thus it is up to us to bring balance to the realm and force a happy ending upon a story that is full of intrigue and betrayal. The game got a lot of critique due to its toned down estethics and though I have to admit I also prefer the look of other Final Fantasy games over this one, I still really liked the world and its characters. There were plot twists I did not see coming and the giant boss battles were always a true sight to behold. The combat felt nice and responsive and all in all it was a blast to play. Welcome to the family, Final Fantasy 16!

I actually have already archived this game over two years ago, but back then I was a very small channel and I hope with this video to introduce this gem to more horror fans out there. And present it to you this time in glorious 4K! Intruders tells the story of a family who are moving into a new home and soon after three intruders trespass on their property. We play as the son and it is up to us to perform various tasks while avoiding the enemies who roam the house. There are plenty of home invasion horror games, but quite a lot rely on a paranormal entity or a monster and I am glad that Intruders stays in the realm of reality. The three enemies are no monsters or ghosts, but simply three intruders who have it out for your family for some reason. The story itself might seem simple, but actually offers one of the best and most unique plot twists I have ever seen in gaming. The game is quite small in scale, but you can really feel love and passion being put into this product. Maybe some people will find the stealth element a bit too easy, but for those wanting a tense and story driven experience Intruders is a must play. I hope to have done my duty as Game Archivist by introducing this game to my audience so that it is not forgotten to time.

This is made by a fellow YouTuber who also has made the Garten of Banban fan games called Care of Gongon. I wanted to archive Care of Gongon first, but I did not seem to be able to find it and so we arrive at the latest title in the form of Hopper's Hotel. We play as Jamie and arrive at the hotel that belongs to our father. We are promptly greeted to the rabbit known as Hopper who helps and guides us through the hotel. This initial release definitely feels like an introduction, but showcases quite a few mascots and plenty of voice acting. The mascots themselves seem like a mix between more traditional mascots and Garten of Banban creations. Probably the weakest part about the game was the audio itself since it sometimes is difficult to hear the character's voices. I have increased the audio in some parts, but then the buzzing of certain things like a television are also increased and obscure the voice audio. Hopper's Hotel 2 has already been announced and hopefully these audio issues get fixed and I am very curious where the story will take us next and what mascot will be our next antagonist.

This game came out recently and was made on the Unreal Engine. The results are a feast for the eye as explosions and hundreds of enemies fill the screen. I have to admit that I am not too familiar in the world of Shmup games, but I definitely would like to learn more about them and what the real gems are. Cygni was a great introduction as the game is easy to pick up and play and the bosses are a real joy to behold. You can of course also play this game in co-op and the overal style is very crisp and nice. I would have loved to have a bit more animated cutscenes here and there, but overal it was a great time and introduction to the world of Shmups! Let's see what the next one will be!

Its also my first time recording a seasonal event for one of these types of games and I have to say that I enjoyed it thoroughly. After saving the world a couple of times we finally get to relax and have some fun at the Moonchaser's Festival. During this festival there are all kinds of snacks, drinks and games to play. Everything is beautifully lit with lanterns and people write wishes on a piece of paper in hopes that they come true. Now it is up to us to help the festival's organizers to make some of these wishes come true. It was actually really cool to see such a shift from the serious story and have a bit of a relaxed pace. Besides doing quests, you are tasked with managing the festival and building stalls, play minigames and gather resources to upgrade the festival even more. As you do this you will run into all kinds of familiar characters from the main quest and have some cute, little sidequests with them. Wuthering Waves still has some of the best artwork and enviroments and it really gave me that summer obon feeling from when I was still living in Tokyo, Japan. I definitely plan on doing more events for other games too, so hope to see you all during the next festival!

Even though the episode is quite short, I am very happy that it seems that the developers have listened to critique and have improved on the overall experience. This time we don't play as the protagonist, but as a undercover agent named Jane. She has infiltrated a gang and needs to find out where their HQ is and take out their leader. She also has some captured civilians to worry about and overall I really enjoyed this perspective of having a trail character being the main controlled unit throughout the story. This is definitely something that they can do more of in future updates, but the best thing about this update is that we don't have to play the Television minigame. In the initial release of ZZZ I thought that the television minigame was a bit underwhelming and outlasted its welcome sometimes. But throughout this entire update you are not required to do this at all. This means there is more time to explore the city which is again as beautiful as ever. I love the overall Cyberpunk atmosphere of ZZZ and I was glad to be able to explore various locations again. The combat is still awesome and the new characters were very fun to play with. This is definitely a step in the right direction and I cannot wait to see what Zenless Zone Zero has in store next!

Silver Chains is a game released 5 years ago and offers a polished and beautiful horror game where you explore a haunted mansion. There are plenty of indie horror games where you do this, but it's the (mostly) polished experience that made this game great. The game looks gorgeous and has some really effective scares. It does not deal with annoying tropes like fuel for your lantern so you can focus on the puzzles or enemies without worrying about resource management. Though there are chase sequences, they are all scripted and thus it can be seen as a horror game that is also suitable for beginners. Some of the puzzles are quite clever and overal I just had a great time with it. I do think the last 10 minutes of the game are pretty bad with a horrible checkpoint system, but for the other 90% the game is great and wel worth the investment for any horror fans out there.

The Bathhouse received mixed reviews from fans, but also had an issue on Steam to where it was apparently unplayable. I'm not entirely sure what the issue was since I had recorded and archived the game on launch, but maybe something went wrong during an update. Anyway, this time they remade the game and its their best looking game yet. We play as Maina who has moved to the countryside to work as a staff member for a local bathhouse. It is up to us to do customer service and keep any customers out who break the rules. It feels a bit like Chilla's Art is toying with the gameplay style of That's Not My Neighbor. Along your shift you will meet all sorts of strange and funny characters and it never got too stressful to where I could not handle what the game was asking of me. The game is by far Chilla's Art longest game yet and a few minigames do outlast their welcome a little bit. I actually lived in Tokyo for 8 years of my life and thus I absolutely love Japanese culture and part of that culture are the onsen and sento bath houses. I have visited many and that is probably why I was actually a big fan of the first Bathhouse game by Chilla's Art. Despite so much critique from others, it was actually one of my more favorite titles since there was a lot of things I felt connected to. This time around it sometimes feels a bit more absurd and I hope that they will stay focused on storytelling and atmosphere, which is what they always excel at. Parasocial was one of their best games yet and I hope they will keep that line in their upcoming titles. One interesting thing about this game is that in order to get the good ending you actually need to replay the game multiple times since it gives you key items from previous playthroughs. I don't think Chilla's Art has ever done this before and it felt surprising and fresh.

This week a lot of FNAF contet was released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the very first FNAF game and that means that FNAF fans are eating good! FNAF Into The Pit tells the story of Oswald who visits an old pizzeria and discovers an abandoned ballpit that he jumps into. To his surprise he is teleported back in time whenever he does this and can witness the pizzeria in its glory days when all the animatronics were still working and the place was full of guests. But not too long after he sees how disaster struck and all the animatronics went on a rampage. To make matters worse, Oswald's dad was abducted and now its up to us to save him and escape the pizzeria together. On first glance it is very clear that this is a drastically different game than all the previous FNAF games; both in visual style and gameplay. This plays more like a retro adventure game and has beautiful, detailed pixel art. All the enviroments are so atmospheric and a joy to explore. There are plenty of secrets and items to find and this weaves into the gameplay as well. Since it plays more like an adventure game, you are often tasked with finding certain key items in order to advance the story. I never got stuck long and I think the puzzles are the perfect difficulty. Some of the scares are also really effective and it was just a joy to see the FNAF world in this style and gameplay. I hope the game will be a success and that we will see more varied gameplay types in the world of FNAF, because it fits that so well. Next year we are of course getting a FNAF kart racing game, so maybe some day we will get a FNAF Mario Party style game? One can dream! Happy 10th FNAF anniversary everyone!!
Huge thanks to @megacatstudios for providing me with a copy!

Not only did we get a teaser for the newest Steelwool Studios game, not only did we get a demo for the upcoming FNAF kart game, but now we also got the release of FNAF Into the Pit early! This is a game I had been looking forward to for a long time. This is an official FNAF game that takes a whole new spin on it by making it a 2D pixel art adventure game. But despite it being 2D the graphics are lovely and so detailed. We play as Ozwald who finds an abandoned ballpit at the local pizzeria. When he enters the ballpit he finds out that he can travel back in time and witness the pizzeria at it's prime with Freddy and all his friends. But that joy and wonder quickly turns to fear when the animatronics rise up and even abduct his father! Now it is up to us to help Ozwald to get his dad back! You do this by solving various puzzles that often feel like oldschool adventure games. You often need to explore the enviroment to collect certain items that you then need to use in other places. Luckily it refrains from having to look for keys or switches, but instead have you often look for tools or other items like a pizza slice to create a diversion. There is a lovely bit of nostalgia sprinkeld in this game, but the charm of the atmosphere is what I loved the most. Unlike many other FNAF games there are often a lot of people at once on screen. And during the day segments there is often not even that much scary stuff happening and you can kinda chill, explore and talk to other kids. It's really fantastic and a formula that would also work in 3D or in first person. This is a great game for newcomers to FNAF and I cannot wait to archive the rest when I have completed all nights.

Five Nights at Freddy's of course can easily transend different gaming genres and we have seen various FNAF games with vastly different gameplay mechanics over the years. That's why I am so happy when I heard that an OFFICIAL FNAF kart game was going to be released. Now the release will be in 2025, but today a demo dropped for everyone to play. The demo currently holds three courses and a large amount of characters to choose from. Anyone from Freddy to Foxy and even the Puppet can be chosen to race with. The tracks are fun references to locations from the various FNAF games. And there are of course plenty of power-ups to use to annoy your opponents with. The most unique thing about the game is that during the race the track will visually shift when you enter Night time. And then at certain moments a scary animatronic will chase one of the racers with the most upgrades and take them out. It's very tense and offers some fun chaos to the mix. Since its a demo there are still a few kinks they need to work out like collision detection and I hope to see a few more details in the levels, but overall I am super excited to see the full product. I think this is an awesome step in the right direction to bring some variety to the FNAF universe and cannot wait to see what Freddy and his friends have in store for us next!
#fnaf #gaming #fivenightsatfreddys #fivelapsatfreddys #mariokart #clickteamThe Renovator Origins| Full Game Walkthrough | No CommentaryThe Game Archivist2024-08-05 | After having archived the classic Silent Hill 2 I felt like archiving a current horror game and The Renovator Origins peaked my interest. The game looks gorgeous and has a setting at an art gallery and implements the art design within the scares and gameplay itself. With Layers of Fear we have seen that art can be a brilliant setting for a horror game and the cool thing is that The Renovator does not feel like a copy of Layers of Fear, but has its entire, own approach to it. We play as a young man who returns to his father's art gallery to pick up some momentos. Not long after we find ourselves locked in and strange things start occuring. Eventually we end up in the past and have to travel through different art pieces with each a unique art style in order to go back home. The game looks gorgeous with Unreal Engine 5 and some of the scares were really effective. The detail in the enviroments is astounding and the addition of the different paintings kept it fresh. Probably the weakest is in the animation of the characters and their facial expression, but I feel that this will be the defining factor from now on to seperate triple A games from the indie titles. Because in terms of enviroments this is as Triple A as it can get.
