Today I've implemented full gamepad support that allows turning and movement in a full 360 rotation across 3D space, as well as the ability to pitch the camera up and down allowing for way more immersion and agency for the player.
I love pushing rpg maker further than it was designed to go and achieve these often janky and uncanny, but rather unique and entertaining results.

Best game i've played in years. Loved everything about it, but the music truly elevated the game to an absolutely insane level. This recurring motif is one my favourite parts of the soundtrack, so as I always do, I have created a 16-bit sega genesis style version using a sega genesis soundfont. This chiptune demake of this piece explores the hypothetical what-if scenario - what if expedition 33 had been released in the early 90s?

Today I’m showing off a stealth system I built for my 3D first-person survival horror game in RPG Maker MV, using just events, switches, and variables.
This is part of my ongoing devlog series where I’m building a solo-developed first-person horror game inside RPG Maker MV using the MV3D plugin by Cutievirus.

This is essentially a test of the engine while I work on my main project, a survival horror first person game, loads of videos on this playlist : youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoQM35u0mGbMc6LiLbmMd-MuigBqNQhrO
Did you know RPG Maker isn't designed to have 100s of objects on screen at once? Today I'm going to push the engine to it's limits and try to spawn 1,000 events while using the MV3D plug in to render everything from a first person perspective. The aim of this experiment is to find out the true restrictions and limitations of the RPG Maker engine, while trying to maintain a decent frame rate to see at what point a game would become unplayable.

Today's progess update is showcasing this massive 3D creature I created for my first person RPG Maker survival horror game. The player is challenged with shooting 6 weak points around the arena to defeat the boss and the monster attacks by launching it's hands as projectiles.
This is solo passion projected being developed in RPG Maker MV using the MV3D plug-in by cutievirus. I have a lot of videos on my channel logging my development (a devlog if you will!) and I am aiming to release a demo in september of whatever I have created.
Inspirations for this project include Resident Evil, Dark Souls, Metroid Prime, Silent Hill and of course all the indie/rpg maker greats like Yume Nikki, Omori, Undertale and much much more.

In this video I'm demonstrating my custom first person shooter mechanics in a 3D survival horror game being made in RPG Maker MV.
The system only uses 1 plug in to spawn the projectiles, the rest of the game logic is handled using common events, switches and variables!
The system uses tank controls and limited ammo and is inspired by early Resident Evil games as well as DOOM and Wolfenstein.
I've seen people create similar systems in RPG Maker, but using my own method here I have created a system that is compatible with my existing game mechanics, including custom menus and effects.
Always making progress! always excited for what comes next!

Today I'm sharing something I've been working on for a while! the addition of metroidvania inspired abilities to my 3d first person survival horror RPG Maker game. I have made abilities inspired by the morph ball, bomb, grappling hook/grapple beam and space jump as seen especially in Metroid Prime.
First upload for a while due to a bit a slow down in my motivation, but I'm hoping to come back in a big way!

Been a slow month! but I'm back and in this longer video I'm showing off something I've wanted to add for a while - a spooky cult with lore sprinkled throughout the game - in my RPG Maker 3D first-person horror game.
The group is a secretive Cult of the Dragon, and the doing side quests for them will reward the player in various ways, including upgrading the ability to sprint for longer periods, an item to reveal secret hidden objects and more lore and secrets of the group!
This is my latest Devlog in a series that follows my journey creating a first person horror game using the RPG Maker MV engine and the MV3D plug in. this project is entirely solo-dev and is a work of passion, as such any and all support will help get this finished!
Many have mentioned these takes on the N64 tracks fit the theme of the "every copy is personalised" meme. this copy is extra cursedededed.

As a solo developer working on yet another project, which I actually hope to finish this time, limiting the scope to be something actually achievable within a reasonable time-frame is something I am hoping to keep a hold of and make sure I am actually working in a way that ensures I focus on the most important aspects of the gamedev and therefore have a design document and path in place that will lead me as quickly and smoothly as possible to a finished product, while holding myself accountable to short term goals to make sure I make long term progress!

My goal is to create my first solodev indie horror game, using RPG Maker in a novel and strange uncanny way to create a horrifying atmosphere and ambience, pushing the game engine out of it's comfort zone and creating something unique in the process!

Previously I discussed why I am using the engine, and today I want to do the opposite and look the unique issues presented by trying to solodev an indie horror game using a first person camera angle in an engine not designed or optimised to rendering 3D environments and objects.
Ultimately, I find the issues and limitations also present unique opportunities to make uncanny and creepy effects, which I will ultimately lead to a better horror atmosphere

Resident Evil 3 - Option Screen, but using the Sega Genesis Soundfont to create a reimagined chiptune version of the survival horror classic.
I've previously also done the save room themes for RE:0 and RE:3 as well as some songs from Silent Hill. I find theres a really fun overlap here between classic psone horror and the 16-bit sounds of the Sega Genesis chip.
Essentially creating a demake to the original soundtrack from the playstation classic.

The process combines some simple and some more advanced eventing concepts, including using the show picture command and conditional branches that wait for input from the player to create a unique visual element to the puzzle.
I created enemy AI for the monster to chase the player by using switches that toggle between a hunting and roaming mode. Also display creepy ominous text on screen to warn the player when the monster has spotted them.

Similar to the Athletic theme I did previously, this theme usually doesn't contain drums or bass, so I have added those in a way that I think fits the original composition and makes this a bit more fun to listen to!

I use plug in commands and a parallel process targeting the event to edit the rotation of the object in real time, causing it to animate and appear to spin.

The athletic theme is a lot of fun, and usually doesn't have drums or bass but after checking out a few other peoples takes on this idea I decided the best thing I could do to make my version unique is to add those extra elements!
