Jeromes SpeedrunsThis is a speedrun of Saddle Up with Yoshi in Yoshi Star Galaxy. See below to read my notes about this level.
The craziest Yoshi Star flutter I've ever seen; the rest of the level was fairly sloppy. I selected Green Star 3 in the beginning as I was initially doing attempts at this level.
0:09 - I take a slightly different route than the current most widely used "optimal" route in this level, which can be seen in aekobn's speedrun of this very IL (youtube.com/watch?v=VN-FW...). I don't know if the Luma/Piranha Plant bounce route is anyhow faster, but I personally prefer doing it over the other route as I find it easier and the time difference is not too remarkable anyway.
0:25 - This flutter is very finicky to execute in an optimal manner. A typical optimal flutter would let me bounce on the Smeech instead the berry, therefore letting me land with a better position on the targeted planet instead of forcing me to walk for a bit towards the left before starting my triple jump (see aek's run, idem). In this run, I somehow bounced three times on the fruit at the same time, which gave me an immense vertical boost. This let me leave my seventh flutter earlier to get on the targeted planet.
0:45 - I dropped my shake input in the second spin after the long jump and therefore shook very late. That cost me around 0.3 second.
0:50 - It's possible to get on top of Yoshi a few frames faster by doing a shake-jump or a shake-LJ.
1:07 - Based on my observations, these elevators appear to be cycle-based. The cycles start rolling on the third planet (the one we go to when we do the flutter) and there is no way to manipulate their cycles in the intro. We are also too far away from them in the first planet to activate them by looking at them. Therefore, in this IL, I believe you want to get to the elevators right before they start going up, in order to get a boost when you sideflip with Yoshi. In this run, I had a cycle that I never got before, and therefore had to adjust. I think I might have lost a bit of time on the last planet.
If you have any questions about this IL, feel free to ask in the comments.

Second IL BKT of the night, this time tied with klar's classic nearly 11-year old time (youtu.be/sGNePAyE8Ac). Once again, I am amazed to see the mastery that klar had at such an early point in the game's history and I consider this to be a very optimized time. Since PurpleSun will likely be working soon on an Upside Dizzy Greens TAS, we will see where the improvement points are. But for now, I feel like I've conquered this level :)Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Sweet Mystery Galaxy - Green Star 1 - 7.35Jeromes Speedruns2023-07-20 | This is a speed run of Green Star 1 in Sweet Mystery Galaxy. We are certainly reaching the peak of what's possible in this star. This is a mere two frames away from the TAS (see: youtu.be/xrkFOBb8Qe4). If I didn't accidentally hug the wall at 0:11, I might have been able to tie the TAS. This run was done using Cubic's 'new' fruit bounce strategy (youtu.be/mprya5vJEXU). Getting a super rare instant fruit triple bounce made this run fast and good-looking. I am satisfied with where this run is at now, but I might do attempts in the future at tieing the TAS.Scania Truck Driving Simulator - Driving Licence - Straight Line Reversing - 13.91Jeromes Speedruns2022-10-30 | This is a speed run of Straight Line Reversing in Scania Truck Driving Simulator.

This run utilises the Co-Star luma. Read my notes about this level below.
This is more than likely the level where Co-Star helps save the most amount of time in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Indeed, not only allows for remote activation of two essential switches, but it also allows for full control of the essential cycles of the level.
This run intends to be simply a first draft and proof of concept of Co-Star strategies for this level in an IL setting, and is by all means very improvable. An optimised and researched attempt from a skilled runner could potentially lead to sub-100 second territory.
0:00 - I wait on the second part of the intro to manipulate Chomp cycles.
0:17 - Long jumping in the launch star allows Luigi not to get stunned when landing on the next planet.
0:35 - It isn't possible to do a camera cancel in this planet. Here, I missed the frame perfect jump input upon landing, losing a over half a second.
0:38 - RTA-viable improvement is likely possible here. My Wii U has a problem where I can't put my cursor at the bottom right of the screen. However, if I had access to that part of the screen, the lever could be activated much earlier. If there was a way to activate the lever as soon as it enters the screen, then to quickly get Luigi on the green platform so as to yield the passing of the Chomp, a substantial amount of time could be saved.

After running this category for about a year and a half, I got this crazy first segment that was deemed impossible for a long time. While this is a rather trivial and arbitrary achievement, I felt as though this was worth sharing, as we could not get anything below 4:02 not too long ago and it is a great example of how minimal improvements have made their way to this category that was remarkably unoptimized not too long ago.
Firstly, it should be noted that I am playing in the traditional Chinese language of the game. To do this, I play on an NTSC-J disc that was only released in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The reason why I favor this disc over other versions, even Japanese Wii U Virtual Console, is because the text scrolling speed is very fast in this language, and since Hanzi characters are represent morphemes, a lot less characters need to be rendered for the same textbox than in any other available language of this game. This is an important time save when speed running segments such as this one.
0:47 — Green Star 1 — 0:06.18 IGT It should be noted that this is not the fastest strategy known for this star. In fact, it is possible to save a few tenths of a second by doing backflip on top of the house, followed by a long jump and a fruit bounce (watch: youtu.be/7ZN7tCht-1Q). However, I do not go for this when doing runs, as the time save is very minimal. Furthermore, if you get on top of the house, but miss the precise fruit bounce, it will end up being slower than doing the strategy shown in this run. I therefore opt for the safer and barely slower alternative.
1:48 — Green Star 2 — 0:23.03 IGT It may appear like I have lost quite a bit of time to the star selection, but that is actually not the case as you can not select stars as soon as your pointer is on the screen. I actually lost a minimal amount of time to star selection in this attempt. One question you might have is why I do Green Star 1 first, as doing Green Star 2 first would allow me to do the textbox skip on Green Star 1, and skip having to select the star manually. The reason why this is not optimal is because the elevator cycles on the second planet are directly influenced by how much you watch the level introduction cutscene (which is the same for both Green Star 1 and 2). By completely skipping the first part of the cutscene, I avoid changing the elevator cycle, and that allows me to have optimal cycles in order to boost up the yellow platform. It should be noted that there is a faster cycle that is done by nemi43 in his IL of this very level (watch: youtu.be/_XTG6l0rmwQ?t=172) as well as some 71-Star speed runners, and I intend to learn this cycle next for the novelty of it.
2:55 — Green Star 3 — 42.68 This is the weakest star of the three, as I have gotten lower 42's before in RTA (.2x being my best, if I recall properly). A peculiar cycle that caught me a bit off guard at 3:50 caused me to break on the elevator, so I didn't get quite the optimal cycle, but even then, it was good enough for a sub-4 minute run.
I believe that 3:57, or even lower, may be possible in this segment, and while it is a pretty dumb novelty that people won't ever take seriously (with reason), I find it very exciting to see that we have gotten here and I am excited to see the future strategy-finding that people will do for this immensely underappreciated category.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Honeybloom Galaxy - Green Star 2 - 1:07.51Jeromes Speedruns2021-05-03 | This is a speed run of Green Star 2 in Honeybloom Galaxy.how to steal someones win in super mario maker 2Jeromes Speedruns2021-04-19 | CATCH MY STREAMS LIVE! twitch.tv/actuallyimjerome Full VOD: twitch.tv/videos/991642255

1:02.xx is probably possible, but I am satisfied with this for now. Might try improving at some point.
0:08 - When you watch the cutscenes in their entirety, you can bounce on that Goomba, which saves a noteworthy amount of time. However, I don't think there's any way to manipulate the Goomba's cycle other than by getting stunned at the second cutscene. Some testing needs to be done to know whether it is faster to get a jump cancel and get the Goomba bounce.
0:13 - Tiny mistake here. If I didn't hold still on my joystick, I would have not had this awkward repositioning with Yoshi. I'm not quite sure how it works.
0:32 - Some frames can easily be saved on this turn.
0:50 - This is a "new" fluttering method that saves a bit of time. It was discovered by runner jda1. You need to wait for the platform to start falling before you jump (hence my shake on the platform). If you hold up-right for one flutter, up-left for a few flutters and left for the remaining of the flutters, you can get a good flutter. It's possible to land right next to the berry (or select it with your pointer before you actually land). This would save a bit of time on this IL.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Yoshi Star Galaxy - Green Star 2 - 21.70Jeromes Speedruns2021-04-13 | This is a speed run of Green Star 2 in Yoshi Star Galaxy. This came totally unexpectedly at my second attempt of the day on this level. I had been struggling to even get a 21.xx the day before.
The movement on this level is very uncomfortable and peculiar, so I'm glad I got this. Most of it is self-explanatory in the video. Most of the time save mostly comes from cleaner movement.
While this is getting pretty optimized, I feel as though this could be beaten by a bit. I think it would be worth testing at 0:14 if long jumping further right can save time.

0:02 - The strategy I use here is what differs from nemi's old time. I opt for a triple jump on the right wall, which appears to be equivalent in necessary time, while being remarkably easier to perform.
0:14 - I shake very slightly earlier than nemi, so I sacrifice falling right on top of the star, but that isn't problematic as the sliding speed makes it appear to be faster.
There is a possible faster strategy that was performed in TAS by PurpleSun which saves about four seconds (youtube.com/watch?v=pUWDsUgGFPw). However, I have doubts on the human feasibility of this for now unless we have a good setup, since in order to save time you would need to have a very precise long jump into the gravity field.

This run was near-impeccable other than for the missed homing ground pound at the end, but I'm happy with this because the reason why I did and recorded this IL was to show off my new star chip collection route. This new route saves more or less three seconds if done optimally.
0:10 - You can often skip the camera cancel here if you get in the launch star a certain way. I'm not too sure how it works, but timing and position seem to be a factor.
0:13 - This star chip is remarkably difficult to collect using the rubbery bulb. You must do two spin-LJs in a very short amount of time with a precise angle while avoiding to get hit by the rubbery bulb after breaking the snow goomba. For this reason, I would advise against going for this route in RTA. One mistake and all your time save is gone.
0:47 - fuck this homing gp

I am playing this on a fairly difficult to find disc of SMG2 that displays text in simplified (?) Chinese script. This version was released only in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. It has really fast textboxes that are very difficult to optimize to their maximum. It can load perfectly fine on any Japanese console or any occidental softmodded console using Gecko.
Other than optimizing your textboxes, backflip and long-jump, it's important to not do anything that lags the game in this IL. That includes: -Grabbing 6-life mushroom -Spinning into a tree -Spinning into enemies -Breaking rocks -Breaking crystals
This run is not perfect (especially the last 2 textboxes) but I am happy with this time and I don't have the motivation to grind and get 2:19. (regardless, 2:20.00 is cooler than 2:19)A slightly more consistent Flip-Out mega-sideflipJeromes Speedruns2020-05-08 | Here, I show off a "setup" for the position in order to get the MSF in this level. I go on the 2nd blue platform as this is a lot easier from that platform.
HORIZONTAL POSITION http://prntscr.com/scxsia I set myself up so Luigi's right hand is more or less aligned with this line. I use the screw as a visual cue.
VERTICAL POSITION https://prnt.sc/scxt6f I press A roughly when Luigi's head reaches the line shown in the screenshot, WHILE SLIPPING.
As you can see, in the video, the position is not very precise and it can work with a bunch of different positions, but this is the most consistent setup I've found. Joystick input precision is the most important.
Maybe, with enough practice, one may be able to get consistent enough at this to go for it in runs.

0:01 - Yoshi Mounting Techniques NOTE: In the video, I said it is +0.12 but I was 2 frames behind on my counting. It's actually +0.15. UP LEFT - A simple long jump on the egg while letting yourself fall (1.82s). UP RIGHT - A double kick into the egg (2.07s; +0.15s). BOTTOM - Same as up left but while ground pounding on Yoshi (2.07s; +0.15s).
0:10 - Movement in the first planet UP LEFT - The current strategies used by runner AltarOfDelirium in his BRT of this level (youtube.com/watch?v=8SHzcnfbitQ) (26.13s; +0.48s) UP RIGHT - A surprisingly fast flutterless strategy used by runner Cheeseoman back in 2010 (youtube.com/watch?v=I1zValdb0y4) (26.56s; +0.96s) BOTTOM LEFT - An unsuccessful test to see if a second flutter would be anyhow faster than doing AltarOfDelirium's fluttering strategy. (27.31s; +1.64s) BOTTOM RIGHT - A successful test to do a single fast flutter (fast nunchuck shake) to a flower that is further away would be faster. If you are attempting this strategy and your flutter is anyhow slower than this, do the strategy on the UP LEFT. A slow flutter will result in a timeloss similar to the one shown on BOTTOM LEFT. This is a tied world record with klar who achieved the same time back in 2012 (youtube.com/watch?v=KJPsXW3wuxo). This video does not implement any different strats than klar and it is, by all intensive purposes, a "HD remaster" of the original time.
0:02 - I let the first phase of the intro play for a very short but precise amount of time to setup the moving platforms. I let the 2nd phase play thoroughly as I think it makes the timer start a bit later.
0:15 - This strategy is somewhat inconsistent. If you don't press A at the exact required time for the reverse wall kick, you'll either do a mid-air jump or a normal wall kick. I tap A for the wall kick and hold A after the goomba bounce.
0:21 - I let myself fall a bit futher so I can have enough height to make it on top of the final platform.
0:25 - This platform is the reason why the intro skip timing is strict. Getting an optimal platform cycle while still being able to do the strategy at 0:15 is challenging and very tight. This IL is very cycle-based.
I believe that there are still a few frames to scratch off this IL with perfect movement or TAS.

This IL had optimal RNG but unoptimal execution; Vallu has achieved an unrecorded 56.01.
There are a few things to mention about this boss's behaviour. 1- His left/right movement (where I do the sideflip) is 50/50 RNG and he does this twice in a fight. Therefore, statistically speaking, 3/4 runs will have bad RNG. 2- The boss will spit out diggas twice per phase (two in the first phase, four in the latter), except if the diggas weren't killed -- we can therefore make him spit out no diggas whatsoever by protecting the ones he spat out, saving about two seconds per digga (6 seconds overall). This requires good RNG and decision-making.
This strategy is consistent with both Mario and Luigi and could be worth going for in top-level 242 Stars speedruns. However, it is somewhat risky to do, as a mistake can very easily result in death.

This didn't feel like that good of a run. I might try to improve this in the future.
0:06 - My movement on the first two planets is the same as the one I've described in my Green Star 2 run. Please refer to my run of this level for further information.
0:21 - I shook slightly too early in the launching star, however it did not seem to kill a significant amount of time.
0:25 - The game does not let you do a camera cancel after this landing and I have not succeeded in getting a frame perfect jump. If it is proven to be possible, this could be a significant way to save time in this star.
0:34 - Probably the only significant mistake of this run here - I cancelled the boss fight animation roughly 14 frames later than I should've for a safer approach. When on this cloud, if I press A too early, I'll end up jumping and the animation will not load until I touch the ground. I therefore waited for the visual stimulus of the animation having started before pressing A. Low 55.3x would have been possible in this run if the animation is skipped better.
The boss fight went well. It wasn't the most optimal, but it was good enough with how difficult this fight is to do fast. The third phase was remarkably impressive.

This is a really funky IL to run. The TAS time (youtube.com/watch?v=ZSKT4ldZKJw) is 4.11, and it does a slightly better but unbelievably inconsistent triple jump. Furthermore, the backflip on the box can be very weird as the edge of the box limits your movements. Read my notes about this level below.
I recently received my Japanese disc of Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the mail, and I wanted to test how much time they would save in text box intensive levels. This is the result of said test on Slimy Spring L.
Japanese text boxes are excessively difficult to execute optimally for me. There are more text boxes in the Japanese version that are extremely short. Therefore, to get frame-perfect text boxes, I have to hold A for a very precise and short amount of time, without having lots of time to react. The way I typically learn a text box is that I subconsciously learn the length of it based on the words at the beginning of the sentence. This makes it very difficult for me to learn them as I do not speak of read Japanese. Regardless, even if I did speak Japanese, I would have a hard time learning those text boxes because of their extremely short length.
As for the level, it is very straightforward. It does not really matter what you do as long as you get a high score. There are no documented ways to lag the game in this level. This attempt lost 4 frames on the first text box but I really don't feel like playing it again right now, as this chimp challenge is remarkably annoying to speedrun, so that's gonna be it for now.

I recently received my Japanese disc of Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the mail, and I wanted to test how much time they would save in text box intensive levels. This is the result of said test on Honeyhop L.
Just avoid spinning into enemies, as that causes lag.

Here's a follow-up to an IL I uploaded yesterday. New discoveries have been found in the route that show that the 2nd planet route I used yesterday was unoptimal.
Indeed, thanks to research conducted by TASer PurpleSun (whom I thank dearly for testing this level), the wiggler bounce appears to be roughly a fifth of a second slower than long jumping after ground pounding the switch.
As for the run, this felt pretty optimized. Obviously not perfect, as I believe there are a few frames to be saved on the last planet, but I'm pretty happy with this time. This remains a very simple IL that is not too hard to optimize.

See below to read my notes about this level.
This IL is not very optimized for my standards, there are several sections where I lose a substantial amount of time. However, with the difficulty of achieving the clip through the ground with the Whomp, I might call it a day with this level.
0:00 - I wait in the intro to manipulate the Whomp's cycle.
0:22 - This is the difficult part of the run. This is a near pixel and frame perfect trick that lets you skip killing the Whomp on top of the castle. It's a trick that has been known ever since the game's release, yet there is no setup that has been found for it yet, despite many attempts by players like aekobn. In this run, I lost roughly half a second by waiting longer than I should've before groundpounding, and by missing the frame perfect ground pound after the long jump.
0:30 - It is possible to save a bit of time in the boss fight by doing another clip into the the Whomp King, as shown in datteo1's run of this IL (youtu.be/2NcQ_wE2SU8). However, I decided to play it safe. This boss fight might be optimized by at least half a second, too.
1:03 - Horrendous textbox execution. Lost a ton of time here.
1:15 - I also lost a few frames here because I thought my angle was incorrect for grabbing the star.

Here, I decided to try out a planet 1 and 2 route that I had been doing in RTA since I started running this game. I've never seen another person do it, and therefore I thought it was a slower route than the one showed in the former IL record of this level, but I decided to do attempts at it nonetheless. I was soon proven wrong as shown by this IL.
This run was not perfect. I have done the first two planets faster than this, but this run was very consistent and it's a good proof of concept for this route. It would be pretty hard to beat this run, but there is still some stuff to nitpick over.
The only problem with this route is that it requires two precise long jumps followed by two frame perfect grounds. Furthermore, if you don't skip the intro, the wigglers will be too far away from the second ground pound to get the boost into the launch star. You will therefore have to resort to long jumping.
Some testing will have to be done to know whether or not this route is really faster for RTA purposes. However, for now, in ILs, it is the optimal route. I might do some attempts of 1, S and GS3 with this route to see if I can shave a few frames off those ILs too.

0:07 - I take a slightly different route than the current most widely used "optimal" route in this level, which can be seen in aekobn's speedrun of Saddle Up with Yoshi (youtube.com/watch?v=VN-FW...). I don't know if the Luma bounce route is anyhow faster, but I personally prefer doing it over the other route as I find it easier and the time difference is not too remarkable anyway.
0:20 - This flutter is very finicky to execute in an optimal manner. This is the fastest way to do it without getting the glitchy triple-bounce on the fruit that I got in my speedrun of Saddle Up with Yoshi (youtube.com/watch?v=FduJb1he_Qs).
1:08 - I was initially really bummed about missing the sideflip there, but in retrospect, I don't think it really lost a significant amount of time. That double jump was really fast and I was able to grab the flower very quickly.

Read below to see my notes about this level.
Currently, using 2 controllers in a level is banned on the Cyberscore leaderboards, but it technically isn't on the Speedrun.com leaderboards and on SDA (as far as my knowledge goes). I wanted to do this as a test for just to see how much of an advantage 2P can give in a game like SMG2. It turns out very few ILs are advantaged by this. However, in Chompworks 1 and Chompworks C, 2P has the immense advantage of letting you completely skip the cycles of the chain chomp by freezing them. This level now becomes all about getting to the platform as fast as possible while freezing the golden chomp for as little time as possible.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Starshine Beach Galaxy - Surf, Sand and Silver Stars - 1:15.98Jeromes Speedruns2020-02-28 | This is a speed run of Surf, Sand and Silver Stars in Starshine Beach Galaxy. A slightly better run than last time. This is however still not a time I am satisfied with and I will improve this, hopefully to a low 1:14 or high 1:13.
0:32 - That crab's movement is based on RNG. If the crab goes left instead of right, you will have to chase him, costing you at most a second. In this run, I got lucky and the crab went where I needed him to.
0:40 - I walk towards the dome before pressing Z to unleash the crab that was stored in Yoshi's mouth because if I don't do so, it won't break the glass and the crab will just explode as if it hit an invisible wall.
0:55 - The angle for this flutter was off and I had to walk to get the pepper. This cost me a substantial amount of time.
1:05 - My turnaround from the statue wasn't automatic, and therefore unoptimal. However, I don't understand how to do get that turnaround consistently.
1:14 - In order to do this massive backflip, you need to hold forwards on the joystick while backflipping. I backflip almost as early as I can on the buoy in order to be well aligned to grab the silver star.
1:26 - In order to get the correct angle for my infinite flutter, I tap right on the joystick. This makes Yoshi face the correct direction with the camera setup I have.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Tall Trunk Galaxy - Tall Trunks Purple Coin Slide - 1:15.88Jeromes Speedruns2020-02-24 | This is a speed run of Tall Trunk's Purple Coin Slide in Tall Trunk Galaxy. See below to read my notes about this level.
This is a fairly easy IL to optimize. It consists of two tricks and very minimal optimizations on the slide. Mistakes on the slide are difficult to make and don't cost much time.
1:20 - To do this jump, I hold a diagonal forward angle relative to Luigi until I land. This makes landing further and closer to the star much easier.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Starshine Beach Galaxy - Surf, Sand and Silver Stars - 1:16.26Jeromes Speedruns2020-02-23 | This is a speed run of Surf, Sand and Silver Stars in Starshine Beach Galaxy. See below to read my notes about this level.
This is by far the most infuriating IL I've had to play in this game. It consists of a lot of precise and difficult tricks and Yoshi flutters. This run is very imperfect but I still find it to be good and it's not easy to beat. I think the furthest this level could be pushed by a human would be 1:13.xx, but that would be incredibly difficult and frustrating, and would take a substantial amount of attempts. I might try to go for a 1:15.xx or maybe even 1:14.xx soon.
0:30 - That crab's movement is based on RNG. If the crab goes left instead of right, you will have to chase him, costing you at most a second. In this run, I got lucky and the crab went where I needed him to.
0:37 - I walk towards the dome before pressing Z to unleash the crab that was stored in Yoshi's mouth because if I don't do so, it won't break the glass and the crab will just explode as if it hit an invisible wall.
0:45 - The angle for my infinite flutter was slightly off, so I had to walk for a bit in order to grab the silver star. This cost me a second.
1:00 - I didn't turn around instantaneously after falling down from the statue, which messed up my camera angle. My dash pepper expired before I intended it to and I had to walk with Yoshi before being able to eat another one, which cost me around half a second.
1:11 - In order to do this massive backflip, you need to hold forwards on the joystick while backflipping. I backflip almost as early as I can on the buoy in order to be well aligned to grab the silver star.
1:24 - My last flutter was bad. I should ideally be able to flutter right into the star or backflip into it. However, here, I lost a bit over 1 second due to having to walk and long jump to the star.

0:13 - I wait in the intro to manipulate the clouds' cycles.
0:30 - Passing by the left side of the Pianta helps my long jumps to be better aligned to pass by the river without slowing down at around 0:42.
0:52 - I am unsure if the strategy I used to get off of the pillar is anyhow faster as the alignment I had with the star at 1:06 was unoptimal. It should be further to the right for an optimal cloud trick.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Flipsville Galaxy - Flipsville’s New Digs - 1:00.23Jeromes Speedruns2020-02-10 | This is a speed run of Flipsville's New Digs in Flipsville Galaxy. 0:20 - This second planet is incredibly precise to pull off. In order to do this backflip, you must do a nunchuck spin with near-perfect timing at the peak of the backflip while keeping a good alignment with the planet. You will be put on the very edge of the cliff in some kind of glitchy situation where Luigi won't be able to crouch (either the input would be eaten or you would ground pound to the first floor). Therefore, the only jump option you have is a single jump. In this run, I got lucky and I got back far enough so that Luigi would be able to turn around and thus make the single jump faster and the wall kick easier to get. You need to do two precise nunchuck spins with both the single jump and the wall jump to barely make it next to the pipe, and try not turning around so you can get a backwards jump and get in the pipe in the fastest way. I think that it might be possible under certain circumstances to crouch after the backflip, and thus, replacing the single jump with a backflip (maybe saving .3 or higher). This, however, would be incredibly precise to do and it will probably be someone else's job to figure out.
0:30 - he timing to get the drill in this section is very strict. You must grab it before the gravity changes and you must not get the coin. Furthermore, you need to go considerably upwards before shaking the remote as spinning with the drill extends the hitbox and might make you touch the coin. However, if you do manage to get the drill in the right time, you will be able to just continuously shake the remote and make the fastest cycle easily.
1:11 - I hold down for a few frames before shaking the remote in order to grab the star automatically.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Flipsville Galaxy - Flipsville’s New Digs - 1:00.53Jeromes Speedruns2020-02-09 | Sorry about the fucked up audio. This is a very simple IL. It consists of doing 4 text boxes as fast as possible. In order to get an optimal time, avoid: -Spinning into enemies -Climb up any tree (not confirmed, according to my own obsevations) -Break any crystals -Grab the 6-life mushroom -Break the rocks All these things lag the timer and make the level slightly longer.
0:13 - In order to do this backflip optimally, I hold z+front on my nunchuck during the second part of the cutscene. As soon as the cutscene ends, I press A and start holding back. The timing is strict but I don't think that doing this optimally is frame perfect; there is some leeway.
2:25 - I lost a few frames during this text box. This time is still improvable and it also is not the best time ever achieved in this level. On 10/26/2010, legendary player Klar claimed to have achieved a time of 2:20.95 (cyberscore.me.uk/record/821172), which is two or three frames faster than this current recorded time I achieved.
This goes without saying that this is a very good and optimized run and we are getting closer to an optimal time in this level. I may try to go for .95 or lower in the future.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Slipsand Galaxy - Squizzards Daredevil Run - 59.35Jeromes Speedruns2019-08-31 | This is a speedrun of Squizzard's Daredevil Run in Slipsand Galaxy.
There's not much to be said about this level. -Mario seems to be the optimal character
-To do the fireball throwing strat, just continuously shake the Wii Remote while spamming the Z button repeatedly
0:45 - You don't need to perfectly hit both cannons to get an optimal time. There is some leeway as he will not throw the bombs right away.
1:10 - If you start holding forwards too early, Mario will start running in the undesired direction after the cutscene ends. I personally start holding forwards on the joystick in the last second or two of the star apparition cutscene.
Again sorry for still procrastinating on my new review. I promise to try and get it out before 2020 lmao
