LYRICS
I think I need to have a drink I mean
I had a pitch-black coffee full of dopamine
I had a couple bad times but I think I’ll be fine
I’m always tracking what happens when I lose my mind
I got a fat chance and the bookie said
You gotta do your sleeping in a hotel bed
and I’ll cut my checks with my teeth some day
And I guess that’s all to say
I got nothin to say
But (‿|‿)
If I could take another swing or two
I always hit my target when it ain’t brand new
And I’m never gonna wonder where the time has gone
Ya see I’m tracking what happens when I wait too long
And I heard the message and I wrote it down
some time spent lost is a life spent found
A hundred bad habits come in one good day
And I guess that’s all to say
I got nothin to say
And if I had got what I’d been looking for
You’d see me right now looking more and more
And what I do got now got me on my way
So I’ll talk but I got nothin to say
now even though I’ve been known to waste
I’ll keep a lost cause rolling with a travel case
I’ll overextend when I underperform
and I’m tracking when I happen to forget to keep score
And I watch a lotta clips full of good advice
they’re never for me but they sound real nice
you gotta start spending what you wanna be paid
And I guess that’s all to say
I got nothin to say
And if I had got what I’d been looking for
You’d see me right now looking more and more
And what I do got now got me on my way
So I’ll talk but I got nothin to say
think I used to have a thicker skin
cause I was better when the weather was gettin in
think I never needed rest and I never thought twice
And I never second guessed how that always had a price
and I heard the message and I know it’s true
you might need time but it don’t need you
I don’t like a chore if it takes all day
And I guess that’s all to say
I got nothing to say
I got nothing to say
I got nothing to say
Song now streaming wherever you stream songs
Special thanks to my baby bro Will for going with me on the pointless walk for this video and manning the playback
Feat. Jesse Flores on the couscous guitar

I could curse this neighborhood
For giving me just what it should
A place to set my lowest bars
In back seats of my high friends’ cars
I’m standing still, I’m thinking fast
my second nature’s built to last
I’m first in line to disappear
And rethink in about ten years
But I’ll wait til it does a little harm
to stand with open arms
To course-correct my self-respect
Until I go too far
And I’ll measure by the best
And I’ll swear that I’m the worst
And I’ll place my bets on my only card
So I could curse this neighborhood
For letting me be what I could
please cut me down out of the roots
I planted with a good excuse
I’m thinking slow and moving fast
Like easy roads are built to last
Like hypocrites need sympathy
For fighting who they’re meant to be
But I’ll wait til it does a little harm
to stand with open arms
To course-correct my self-respect
Until I go too far
And I’ll say I need the best
I’ll measure by the worst
And I’ll raise my debt and say it ain’t so hard
So I could curse this neighborhood
For keeping me from what it could
I’m cashing in, I’m moving up
I’m spending all my time and luck
I’m heading on, I’m looking back
I’m setting up an even match
I’ll start rethinking each mistake
Nothing short of ten years late
But I’ll wait til it does a little harm
To stand with open arms
To course-correct my self-respect
Until I go too far
And I’ll try to be my best
And I’ll live with all my worst
And I’ll get upset and I’ll thank my fading stars

On Christmas Eve at her jukebox bar
the owner put out the old mason jar
of the change she saved, on a stool up front
just so anyone could sing if they want
Ba da da da etc
well the college kid with a college drunk
Gave ‘em deck the halls from the top of his lungs
they said “kid go home” but he just sat down
Said “they ain’t missed me once, they ain’t starting now”
Ba da da da etc
The preschool teacher of twenty nine
made a solo out of baby it’s cold outside
Sent a text to her ex, said “I miss him tonight,
think I’d miss him less if he treated me right”
the owner asked ‘em for encores every track
She asked ‘em “where did ya learn to sing like that?
Who’s gonna give it a try, honey don’t be shy
I know the words and I’ll sing with ya the whole time”
The neighbors opened their windows just to hear
They knew that magic don’t happen every year
You get whatever you need
by the time you leave
that jukebox bar on Christmas Eve
Ba da da da etc
the lawyer was loaded and scraping along
doing silver and gold like a funeral song
she said “it’s not when I lose, I think losing is fine
It’s when I win for someone who wins all the time”
Ba da da da da
The laid off coach, without looking up
crooned I’ll be home to the foam in his cup
said “I miss the days when the words I said
didn’t hold people back, they would push ‘em ahead”
Ba da da da da
the owner asked ‘em for encores every track
She asked ‘em “where did ya learn to sing like that?
Who’s gonna give it a try, honey don’t be shy
I know the words and I’ll sing with ya the whole time”
The neighbors opened their windows just to hear
They knew that magic don’t happen every year
You get whatever you need
by the time you leave
that jukebox bar on Christmas Eve
The poet and postman and plumber in love
did “Last” and “Blue” and “12 Days Of”
and the big bank big wig swigging some rum
did Santa baby like a hit and run
Then the journalist and therapist
sung jolly old saint Nicholas
And the owner watched and didn’t charge anyone for drinks
They turned to her with sympathy
said “you’re working late on Christmas Eve
And you’re all alone, that don’t seem right”
She said “look around — I ain’t alone tonight”

Well when she got the grade
She took her first real breath
As a person without a single damn care left
Put a note in her phone
In double bold and read:
“everything that I need is somewhere straight ahead”
Oh it’s somewhere straight ahead
Soon when the fuse was lit
She tied a few loose ends
Certain people she loved
And just a few fake friends
On the morning she left
She left a text on read
“Everybody I need is somewhere straight ahead
Cause I don’t wanna live for the summer
I just wanna live where I wanna
I don’t see whatever you’re seeing
I just think I’m better off leaving
I don’t wanna live for the summer
I just wanna live where I wanna
I don’t see whatever you’re seeing
I just think I’m better off leaving”
Two years to the day, she had it all worked out
Wrote a couple of novels people wrote about
Captivated the strangers at the bars uptown
Thinking “nobody here could ever slow me down
Nah they couldn’t slow me down”
And when the thought occurred
She bought the house she earned
She started looking into venues for July the third
She wants a west coast wedding with a mind like hers
Before she puts a reminder in her phone
To remind her that she knows
“I can do it on my own
I can do it cause
I don’t wanna live for the summer
I just wanna live where I wanna
I don’t see whatever you’re seeing
I just think I’m better off leaving
I don’t wanna live for the summer
I just wanna live where I wanna
I don’t see whatever you’re seeing
I just think I’m better off leaving”
She’s off the ground
She won’t look down
She made a vow
Don’t stop her now
The things that she wills
Become things that she builds
So don’t stop her now
When she saw the movie all about her life
Well she noticed some things they didn’t get quite right
Cause they added mistakes and cut her best damn nights
Everybody who knew it sent a god damn text
“Did you tell them to do it so it makes more sense?”
She was staring straight ahead
Took her time and said:
“I don’t wanna live for the summer
I just wanna live where I wanna
I don’t see whatever you’re seeing
I just think I’m better off leaving
I don’t wanna live for the summer
I just wanna live where I wanna
I don’t see whatever you’re seeing
I just think I’m better off leaving”

hey
am I dead in the cold ground?
am I bleeding from the neck down?
am I making it work?
yeah yeah yeah yeah
hey now
I could talk to mother nature
tell her that I don’t hate her
but this part don’t gotta hurt
whoa oh oh oh (etc)
she said darling I get it
but this is where you were headed
this is just how it goes
whoa oh (you get it)
so wait
can I still come up short now?
can I fight when I don’t know how?
can I trick bad luck?
yeah yeah yeah yeah
hey now
I could talk to mother nature
tell her that I won’t chase her
but I’ll be trying to keep up
(the whoas and ohs happen here again)
she said darling I get it
but this is where you were headed
this is just how it goes
(whoahohwwahohaoho)
make me healthy, make me okay
make me wealthy, on a bad day
they’re exclusive, but it’s loose if
I don’t care
and I’m trying, but not always
cause I’m dyin, for some old ways
help me leave when I still see them
in the air
they’re in the air
so wait
maybe I’m realizing
bleeding out ain’t compromising
and it sure ain’t the end
no no no no
hey now
I think I'll sing to mother nature
and tell her I’ll never blame her
'cause she always lets me pretend
(final whoa’s and oh’s)

We found that everything we know
was counting that the ground moves passionate and slow
we sung a couple honest parables of promise
Hearing words we all missed
that change how they all go
We chose a direction and we ran
We saw a way to bargain with everything we had
We sung a broken series of metaphors and theories
Screaming “can you hear these,
Tell us we’re not mad”
then the thunder and water was making us shout
“guess we’re mothers and fathers, we’ll figure it out”
Stay in bed a bit more
we ain’t found some new shore
We froze in place like it was true
We knew the world had just changed but nothing on it moved
We sung our favorite questions that felt more like confessions
Dodging all the lessons
That we already knew
We fought the weather and the stars
We threatened every fortune that wasn’t in the cards
We sung about our gravestones, crossing different timezones
People in our old phones
and not caring where they are
then the thunder and water was making us shout
“guess we’re mothers and fathers, we’ll figure it out”
Stay in bed a bit more
we ain’t found some new shore
and I, oh I’m trusting in an ancient thing
and I, I gotta be fine holding on a single string
tied to everything
tied to everything
We’ll mourn for everything we know
we’ll wonder if the sky moves passionate and slow
We’ll sing a song of leaving, laughing while we’re grieving
happy to be breathing
and certain that we’ll grow
then thunder and water will making us all shout
“guess we’re mothers and fathers, we’ll figure it out”
Stay in bed a bit more
we ain’t found some new shore
oh no no no no no no lol

I'll break my heart
to feel the spark
I'll believe the stories in the dark
to get a start
I'll look like hell
just to wear it well
I'll believe the stories that I tell
if it weaves a spell
I caught a glimpse in the window
I caught a glimmer of what I was hoping to see
and everybody can stand there folding their arms
they're saying don't hold your breath
I'm saying how can you breathe
oh no no no (etc lol)
I'll dig my grave
on a pretty day
and I'll pick some flowers on the way
just in case I stay
I'll lose my mind
cause it's nice to find
but I'll see the sights and take my time
to be sure it's mine
I caught a glimpse in the window
I caught a glimmer of what I was hoping to see
and everybody can stand there folding their arms
they're saying don't hold your breath
I'm saying how can you breathe
I'll believe it if it sounds a little too right
I'll rest easy if it's written in the moonlight
and that ain't a leap of faith
no baby I'm not brave
I'm not brave
no baby I'm not brave (etc lol)
I'll fall behind
to realign
and I'll change my mind
and change my mind
and change my mind
I caught a glimpse in the window
I caught a glimmer of what I was hoping to see
and everybody can stand there folding their arms
they're saying don't hold your breath
I'm saying how can you breathe
oh no no no (etc again lol)

Thinking started feeling like burning
Winding back and unlearning
Nothing left to find out
I’m looking for an easy thing
No I ain’t climbing on over
Give me something I’m older
I just want it around
I’m looking for an easy thing
Focus got me feeling distracted
Calmly overreacting
No more wondering how
I’m looking for an easy thing
No I don’t think it needs solving
I’m not stuck I’m evolving
I won’t question it now
I’m looking for an easy thing
but I only know what I need when I’m bleeding
and I wanna know what I need when I need it
I only know what I need when I’m bleeding
I wanna know what I need cause I’m like
Oh no no no no, oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah
Searching started feeling like losing
Calculated refusing
I don’t wanna slow down
I’m looking for an easy thing
You got no reason to save me
Just give me something here baby
I just wanna be found
I’m looking for an easy thing
Please I wanna know kn-know kn-know kn-know kn-know the right way
I wanna mean it like it’s beatin in my veins
I swear I feel it feel it feel it feel it feel it some days
and I hold it through the waves
cause I only know what I need when I’m bleeding
and I wanna know what I need when I need it
I only know what I need when I’m bleeding
I wanna know what I need cause I’m like
Oh no no no no, oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah
Patience got me crawling through minutes
Well aware when I’m in this
I ain’t waiting around
Oh no
I ain’t waiting around
No no no, oh I know I know I know I know the easy thing
Oh I know I know I know I know the easy thing
I swear I know I know I know I know the easy thing

She asked me baby did you burn that deal before you knew me
like she knew me
she said I'm lovely with a lonely time, til your blood goes blue
yeah I know you
and she said I’ve been dead in your high school bed since you met me
she said with friends like these who needs anybody else?
she asked me baby don't you burn and bleed when I make you happy
like she's happy
she said I'm nearly never not enough but go and pray it's true
yeah I know you
and she said I get cold in your ex's clothes that you left me
she said with eyes like these who sees anybody else?
She said I'm slipping through your grip like glass
Oh but you're holding on
she said a thunder bolt ain't built to last
Oh but you're holding on
You’re holding on, holding on, holding on, holding on, holding on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on lol
she said I'm screaming warnings dressed like mornings
black tattoos doing voodoo pouring out together in any weather you'll come
she asked me honey ain't it gettin hard to hold and love me
like she loves me
she said I'm older than the golden rule
but we can say I'm new
yeah I love you
and she said I'm in bed in a good girl's head and you let me
She said with friends like these who needs anybody
She said with eyes like these who sees anybody
she said with dreams so strong you belong to nobody else

LYRICS:
wait
I’m on the corner of the stage
baby maybe I should stay
a little later maybe just in case
love to say
you got me cornered on a page
but man I like a little pain
or little changes, maybe they’re the same
Oh my
i know when I’m 25
I’ll think in a pretty line
man I’m late
bent into a natural state
got particulars and dates
articulated kinda by mistake
love to wave
at every vision from a grave
but man I’d rather it explain
the wind and rain and maybe why it came
Oh my
i know when I’m 25
I’ll think in a pretty line
and thank god I still got all this time
wait
I’m in the center of the stage
baby maybe I should frame
that bloody painting telling me my name
if it works
you’ll see a boxer and a curse
but if it’s buried by the church
the holy dirt might make it something worse

LYRICS
I need whatever you need
to make the weather believe
to twist the colors between both our brains
til we don’t need to breathe
I can hear through your bones
cause they sound like my own
the way they light up up and buzz under your skin
‘til we’re somewhere alone
listen
I’ll do whatever you want me to
I’ll do whatever you want me to
static cracks through your lips
straight through my fingertips
bitin the current that’s blasting between every word
like some holy eclipse
but when you shoot for the head
I feel reality bend
I feel bolts through the floor up the wall out the door
through your car to your bed
listen
I’ll do whatever you want me to
I’ll do whatever you want me to
like armageddon is gettin together with me and you
I’ll do whatever you want me to
you got me some a line
so maybe rob me blind
and baby don’t you hide
whatever’s on that mind (over & over & ov)
I’ll do whatever you want me to (repeated lots & lots & lo)

well i know the color
of killin the summer
of pickin a number
then pickin fights with it
like I know it’s how I cope
when december comes
I hope the new year gets what it wants but
holds off for a couple more months and
I know it’s breakin bottles
the lightning storm I found
but if it’s keepin hot I’ll be burnin til i drown
and if it snaps me sideways or if it stops my heart
i ain’t to blame no i just did my part
heard in a blizzard
you never missed her
you never wish you’re
able to classify
that 21
aint 22 or
that it’s all the same for
every story no one cares for
and you’re keeping up
with some boring fiction
about some door and which sin
lead you through and made you listen
like I know it’s how I cope
when december comes
I hope the new year gets what it wants but
holds off for a couple more months and
I know it’s breakin bottles
the lightning storm I found
but if it’s keepin hot I’ll be burnin til i drown
and if it snaps me sideways or if it stops my heart
i ain’t to blame no i just did my part
I don’t really get what I said
as different people using my head
I’m still awake cause maybe I need to
play pretend in place of a break through
I swear it ain’t a religion
built to make me better at livin
i like when something might kill me
I like that someday it will be true
and I know the color
of keepin a summer
of losing a number
then making up for it
and I know it’s how it I cope
when december comes I hope the new year gets what it wants
yeah i hope the new year gets what it wants but holds off for a couple more months

LYRICS -
this can't be right, no i made a mistake
get the notes that i typed by the edge of the lake
seen that scar like a star from the back of the bar
sayin stay baby stay where you are
now check for the sketch, it's in black, it's a mess
but it's clear who's the one by the mark on the chest
never knew i could do what i hated in you
sayin run baby run this is new
but the moon's not burnin through my skin tonight
so maybe that's never been true
and the view's not different when you think you're right
and the lake is nothin but blue
learned in the field when to fight, when to yield
see if silver don't kill her it makes quite a shield
broken ice got a price, cut me up more than twice
cryin no baby no just be nice
i'm up every night, i'm holdin up the light
to the blood on the bark, gotta paint it just right
makin sure i see that it's her never me
laughin you babe it's you, seems to be
but the moon's not burnin through my skin tonight
so maybe that's never been true
and the view's all different when you think you're right
and the lake is nothin but blue
so maybe I knew and I tried
to fight off the change and I died
I'm screamin out loud, "my my,
I know that this face, it ain't mine
no i know that this face, it ain't mine"
but the moon's not burnin through my skin tonight
so maybe that's never been true
and the view's all different when you think you're right
and the lake is nothin but blue

- LYRICS -
Love picks a season like a kiss picks a reason
like a force of nature with times and dates you're
inclined to remember how she looked in the weather
and I'm lookin' at ya, scarf and hat ya
said your reason, is this our season now?
No better condition for some frost-bitten wishin'
won't you take my arm, dear, intentions unclear
but go, take it anyway, you're perfect for a snowy day
oh it's a cold night let's be bold I've
said my reason, is this our season now?
You're a stunner in the summer
in the April rain and thunder
In the fall, dear, you got it all, dear
but when I stroll through thoughts of you and me
it's mistletoes and Christmas trees
So go, get your coat and get outside, call a sleigh we'll take a ride
my dear, there's magic here
and maybe we just made it up, but darlin' maybe that's enough
for any reason (the chilly breeze blows through)
it's all pleasin' (the snowy trees)
it's you and me, hun, and it's our season now
