Some ciliates bite off more than they can chew—literally. After swallowing cyanobacteria strands longer than their own bodies, the ciliates end up with the filaments curled inside them, restricting their movement and shape.

All footage captured under the microscope using bright field and dark field illumination. Freshwater sample from Bang Kachao (the Green Lung of Bangkok).
