The purpose of this webinar is to provide younger generations, particularly undergraduate and master's students, with exposure to the versatility of geotechnical engineering as a field, including the different career paths available and how their coursework in early engineering fundamentals is directly relevant. Since students often encounter geotechnical engineering later in their undergraduate programs, providing these insights early can help them make more informed decisions regarding internships, research, and career opportunities. In this session, we invite the speakers to share insights from their early experiences in geotechnical engineering, including courses such as engineering mechanics and fluid mechanics, and examples of how these experiences directly impact the geotechnical engineering community. This can also extend to projects or laboratory work that helped shape their understanding of the field. Highlighting how these experiences developed critical skills such as technical problem-solving, effective communication, teamwork, and the practical application of concepts would be extremely valuable for students just starting their engineering journey. It would be a great idea to discuss the non-linearity of geotechnical engineering as a concept, the materials we deal with, and how this is particularly important for students' critical thinking, at least at such an early stage of their careers.
