Taking out the fuel pump unit in the tank that holds pump, filter, regulator and level sender. This started out as a service job to change the fuel filter that is in the tank. It’s almost the same on 1.8 and 2.5 petrol engine. But a while back I did a fuelling upgrade (255 LPH) on my Freelander 1.8 turbo conversion and so these videos are merged into this one.
Apart from being a good service item to attend to, I also had a power cut off symptom on my v6 2.5L that needed fixing. The symptom of power cutting at full throttle 5000 rpm felt to me like fuel starvation and so it was. All fixed now. Just clogged fuel filter I think, which were changed, both pre pump and after the pump, but since the whole pump unit was a cheapish £37, I changed the whole tank unit. Which was a comeinhandy moment as it also included fuel pickup filters as well as main filter, plus of course the pump and regulator plus level sender, so a great price. I bet you couldn’t get that price on a BMW or Audi!
