Sara works as the Manager of Policy Implementation on the Public Policy Team at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, where her focus is finding ways to optimize SNAP administration so that the program can be more accessible and effective for Illinois residents experiencing food insecurity. Sara has been working for the Food Depository since 2015 when she began as a SNAP Outreach Coordinator during her third term of AmeriCorps service. Her two previous terms of AmeriCorps service included a year of teaching Adult Basic Education classes on Chicago’s Northwest Side, and a year of working to create an employment services center on Chicago’s Southwest Side. Sara resides in Tinley Park with her husband and her two daughters, and in her free time she enjoys baking and learning about architecture and design. This event is organized by the MVCC Honors Program.
