DIY Rosewater using Roses from the Garden 🌹 #naturalskincare #botanical Lovely Greens 2024-06-14 | HOMEMADE ROSEWATER 🌹Rosewater is a beautifully scented and skin-hydrating floral water. You can even use it in cooking for rose-flavoured treats! The way it's made is by gently heating rose petals in water and then capturing and condensing the steam. The resulting liquid, also called a hydrosol, is loaded with rose essence and scent. More professional set-ups use stills to accomplish this, but you can DIY one using a pot, a pot lid, a couple of small dishes, and ice. Inside the pot is a ceramic dish sitting on a cloth. Sitting on top is the white dish used to collect the hydrosol. Around this is a thick layer of fresh rose petals sitting in cool water. The flowers are highly scented and from my Generous Gardener rose bushes.Heated on low, the water evaporates and steams the petals. When the steam hits the chilled lid, it condenses back into liquid and drips into the white dish. The First Mince Pies of the Year 🥧🎄 #easydessert #dessert Lovely Greens 2023-11-01 | #AD 🥧 Consider this your green light to enjoy the first mince pies of the season! Fresh out of the oven is THE BEST, and why not? They’re fun and easy to make. All you need is your favourite pie dough and high-quality mincemeat.I’m using @waitroseandpartners Rum & Raisin and Christmas mincemeat, and both are soooo good! They’re vegetarian (no suet) and save making your own and having to wait the two-week infusion time. They’re also full of flavour and top quality 👌Simply roll the dough, cut circles for the bases, and place them in a shallow bun tin. Spoon a walnut-sized portion of mincemeat inside each and fit with the pie crust of your choice. I used a simple star cookie cutter to make them for mine. Bake for 15-20 minutes, cool for 10 minutes, then sprinkle icing sugar on top.For extra indulgence, spoon cream on top. I've paired foraged blackberries (there are still loads out now) with a few @waitroseandpartners products, many of which have new reduced prices. The crumble topping is crunchy and delicious, and the fruit mixture is simply divine.🥧 Here's what you'll need to make this Blackberry Crumble Recipe, including #WaitroseNewLowerPrices productsFILLING● one bag of Waitrose Essential Seasonal Apples (500g)● one carton of Waitrose Essential Home Ripening Plums (400g)● 400g blackberries● 2 TBSP demerara sugar● 1 TBSP cornflour (or plain flour)● 1 tsp cinnamonTOPPING● 140g plain flour● 140g salted butter● 1 tsp baking powder● 90g demerara sugar● 50g porridge oatsTO SERVE● Waitrose Essential CustardPreheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) or 180°C (350°F) fan or gas 61. Make the filling: Peel, core, and chop the apples.2. De-stone and chop the plums.3. In a large bowl, stir to coat the apples and plums with the sugar, cornflour, and cinnamon.4. Pour the mixture into an even layer in a baking dish. Spread the blackberries on top.5. Make the topping: In a food processor*, pulse the butter, flour, and baking powder together until it has the texture of wet sand.6. In a large bowl, stir the butter/flour mixture with the oats and sugar. 7. Spread the crumble topping on top of the blackberries. It can come all the way to the top of the dish since there will be sinkage during baking.8. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the top is golden and the filling bubbling.9. Homegrown Easter Feast with Waitrose #garden #EasterAtWaitrose Lovely Greens 2023-03-27 | #AD 🌱 There's nothing like combining fresh, homegrown produce with quality ingredients to make a springtime feast. Though I grow a lot of our own vegetables and herbs, we rely on small producers and the supermarket for meat, eggs, dairy, and other items. 👩🌾👨🌾 It's important to me that the foods we do buy are as high quality and as ethically assured as possible. That's why I'm a big fan of @Waitrose ! They use more responsible levels of packaging and support local farming, especially with their lamb. All of their own brand, fresh, and frozen lamb comes from British farmers whom they've worked with for years. Farmers that raise their animals to award-winning standards of animal welfare. It's rare to come across a supermarket that cares that much.🍷 For a pre-Easter feast, I made Waitrose's recipe for Braised Lamb with Mint, Parsley, and Almond Pesto and paired it with a gorgeous bottle of wine.
