Today, we are diving into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but we aren't just sitting at a desk looking at a flat screen. I am jumping into full Virtual Reality and hooking up my multi-axis motion simulator to show you the absolute peak of modern simulation.
We start the video with a lighthearted tour from the flight deck, casually cruising past some of the most bizarrely named real-world locations on the planet—from Dildo, Newfoundland to Loose Bottom, Shitterton, Twatt, Penistone, and Upperthong in the UK.
From there, we test the absolute limits of the VR cockpit and the motion platform with high-adrenaline aerobatics and intense landing challenges that feel exactly like a passenger ride in a Naples Fiat Panda. Then, we cool things down to appreciate the staggering photorealistic beauty of iconic cities like Tokyo and Venice, alongside the raw, jaw-dropping natural landscapes of the world.
But finally, we take a deeply personal turn. Despite having the entire world at my fingertips, I find myself using this next-gen VR immersion to fly over my small hometown in Southern Italy to pay a virtual visit to the place my late Nonna used to call home. Looking out the cockpit window in VR while the motion sim perfectly mimics the wings banking transforms a visual simulation into a genuine physical memory.
