I had the idea to do an arrangement of this a couple weeks ago. I love the original song by Mili and wanted to see what I might be able to turn this into with the help of some incredible musicians! My first step was to play it all on piano after analysing the original. I then decided what instruments I wanted to be in this. Saxophone was my first pick. I wanted something that captured the delicate and almost precious feel of Cassie Wei's vocals in the original. I figured alto sax captured this the best. Yuri did an amazing job of almost whispering while playing; soft and peaceful. I then wrote out all of the sheet music and got to work with all of the musicians in remote recording sessions. Normally in arrangements, I include new original sections. Here I didn't feel I wanted that. Instead changing the chords and instrumentation was enough I felt. I wanted to stay true to the original but provide the feel of a jazz ballad.
