Chapter 12 begins with the party traveling to the Corel region aboard the newly christened Tiny Bronco (now a ship!), piloted by Cid Highwind. Their destination is the extravagant theme park, the Gold Saucer, where the Keystone—the artifact needed to enter the Temple of the Ancients—is rumored to be held.

The party quickly encounters the park's owner, Dio, who agrees to give them the Keystone if they help his team win a massive tournament against the Corneo Family. Amidst the chaotic fun, the party faces a shocking betrayal that changes the course of their mission forever.
