Here is the deal: If you wear ANY metallic piece of equipment inside the cave, the character is under constant paralyze. If all characters war something and you enter a battle, it is instant Game Over. The effects stops for good as soon as Edward plays his song.
In case you forget the whisperweed flower, the Dark Elf is unbeatable and he one-shots you with Quake.
