The GT3 has been updated!
Porsche has just lifted the lid on the mid-life facelift of the 911 GT3 & GT3 Touring, and Mat’s flown over to Germany to meet with the head of Porsche’s GT division to find out just what’s changed on the new car.
Following the unveiling of the updated 911 earlier this year, Porsche fans may have been worried that the new GT3 would roll up with an updated, hybrid-powered engine. But we can officially confirm there is NO hybrid powertrain in the new GT3! It’s retained the same 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six as in the previous edition, and it still produces 510hp and 450Nm!
In terms of the design, you’d be forgiven for thinking that hardly anything has changed on the new car. And in traditional 911 fashion, not much has! There’s an updated bumper and some new headlights at the front, while at the back the wing has been updated slightly, while there’s also a new set of taillights. Otherwise, it’s all pretty much business as usual with the new GT3. And of course, that’s no bad thing!
On the inside, it’s all still traditional Porsche interior goodness. But there’s one BIG change with the Touring. For the first time ever, it’s available with a set of back seats!
So it looks great, is 100% petrol-powered, and the practicality has improved. But of course, it doesn’t come cheap… An all-new GT3 will set you back at least £157,300!! But is it worth it? This is the all-new Ferrari F80!
It’s Ferrari’s successor to the legendary LaFerrari, and Mat’s about to run you through everything you need to know about it!
For starters, let’s talk about the engine and performance. The V12 is officially gone, and it’s been replaced with… The V6 from the 296! But fear not Ferrari fans - it’s also equipped with a total of three electric motors, and combined, they produce an eye-watering 1,200hp. This officially makes it the most powerful Ferrari road car ever produced! The power is sent to all four wheels, and as a result, the F80 can shoot to 62mph in less than 2.15 seconds!
In terms of the design, it’s fair to say the F80 doesn’t have the same visual shock value as its predecessor. The black band across the nose looks similar to what you get on the 12Cilindri, but overall the front doesn’t have the same pointy design style as seen with previous legendary Ferraris. However, at least there are several aerodynamic details across the car when you look closely, such as the fins behind the side windows and the heavily contoured side skirts.
As for the interior, one of the most notable features is the square steering wheel, which has clearly borrowed inspiration from Ferrari’s Le Mans Hypercar program. Although this may come with a number of physical buttons on it, the rest of the cabin is adorned with a number of screens. There’s a digital dial screen for the driver, along with a separate passenger screen - just like the one found in the Purosangue.
The F80 is limited to just 799 units, and of course, it doesn’t come cheap. Each one will set you back around £3,000,000! But does it match up to the McLaren W1? And is it a suitable successor for the LaFerrari? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Some of the biggest car manufacturers in the world have been working on technology that could help save the internal combustion engine!
From Porsche to Toyota and even Ferrari, several manufacturers have been exploring new ways to ensure that the internal combustion engine doesn’t cease to exist as more regulations are brought in over the next few years. But what sort of technology have they been working on?
Well, one of the most exciting innovations comes from Porsche, with patents for an all-new 6-stroke petrol engine having been uncovered! There’s a whole load of technical detail included with the patents, but this all-new design looks like it will help to radically boost power thanks to there being two power strokes in every three revolutions. With this in mind, not only is power increased, but it means that emissions will also decrease at the same time.
But that’s not all, both Ferrari and Toyota have unveiled patents and teased tech that makes use of hydrogen fuel. For example, patents reveal that Ferrari is undertaking work on a supercar that would Include a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine!
Clearly, development of this is in the very early stages at the moment, but there are great benefits to be had with hydrogen fuel, mainly being the fact that no carbon dioxide is expelled from the car at all, so it’s an actual game-changer when it comes to reducing emissions! The only problem is that you may have trouble finding a place to refuel if the modern network is anything to go by…

It’s time for a Japan vs Italy showdown!
We’ve got our hands on a Ferrari 812 Superfast, and it’s about to go up against the almighty Nissan GT-R NISMO! But will the AWD NISMO take down the RWD 812? Let’s find out…
Starting with the NISMO, it’s powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 that can put down 600hp and 652Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,725kg. When new, the NISMO set you back around £125,000.
Then we have the Ferrari. It’s powered by a glorious 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12, and this can produce 800hp and 718Nm. This is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,630kg. When new, it cost around £261,000.

Hyundai has gone to town on the Santa Fe, updating the looks from a regular, fairly ordinary-looking SUV to one of the most imposing 7-seaters on the road today! So, is it more style over substance, or should you consider the Santa Fe over competitors like Skoda Kodiaq or Nissan X-Trail? Let’s take a closer look.
So of course, we need to start with the design, and it’s fair to say we’re seeing a bit of classic Land Rover design language from the outside… But that’s no bad thing! The boxy shape really helps the Santa Fe stand out on the road, as do the smart and unique H-shaped daytime running lights. The front end is minimalistic and impressive, while the rear end is clean but really emphasises the boxy design.
Step inside and the Santa Fe is a really nice place to be. There’s a large curved screen that incorporates both the digital dials and infotainment screen, and thankfully there are separate dials for the climate controls. The seats are super comfortable, and the majority of the cabin is fitting with soft touch materials. There are absolutely tonnes of cupholders, so practicality isn’t an issue, and even adults can fit into the third row of seats if needs be!
When it comes to performance, there’s only one engine available - a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder. This is available as either a self-charging hybrid with 215hp, or a plug-in hybrid with 253hp.
The new Santa Fe range starts from around £46,000, rising up to around £50,000 once you’ve added a couple of options. But should you really choose it over some of its class-leading rivals? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

We’ve got our hands on a Porsche 996 911 Turbo S and it’s going up against… A Skoda Superb?!
Think it sounds like an unfair match-up? Well, let’s take a closer look at the stats.
Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbo flat-six that produces 450hp and 620Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs 1,630kg. When new, the 911 Turbo cost around £101,000.
Then we come to the Skoda. Normally, its 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo produces 280hp and 350Nm of torque. However, this Superb has been tuned! As a result, it now puts down 477hp and 661Nm! Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch, and it weighs slightly more than the Porsche, tipping the scales at 1,670kg.
So the Skoda has more power than the Porsche, but it’s slightly heavier! So can an all-new family-friendly Skoda really take down a Porsche? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!
It’s the most powerful and quickest-accelerating McLaren road car EVER! And it’s the first hypercar from the next-generation Holy Trinity to be revealed.
Besides an all-new chassis, the W1 features a completely new 4.0-litre twin-turbo hybrid V8 engine that revs to 9,200rpm.
Working with a compact F1-style electric motor, this powertrain produces 1,275hp – so it’s the most powerful road-legal McLaren ever built.
It accelerates from 0-62mph (100kph) quicker than a McLaren P1, hits 124mph (200kph) quicker than a Ferrari SF90 or Lamborghini Revuerlto, and it’ll beat a Bugatti Chiron from 0-186mph (300kph).
That’s despite all this power being sent through an 8-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels only – Koenigsegg style.
The McLaren W1’s top speed is 217mph, but what’s really impressive is how quickly it’ll lap a race track. At the Nardo Handling Circuit in Italy, it beat the McLaren Senna’s record by 3.0 seconds.
The key to this hot-lap pace is Formula 1 aerodynamics, including a huge rear diffuser, underbody ground-effect and gigantic active surfaces, including a long tail-style movable wing. Combine this all together, and the McLaren W1 produces a whole tonne of downforce – literally, 1,000kg of the stuff.
As you’d expect, this G-Force delivery system doesn’t come cheap. The McLaren W1 costs £2,000,000 after tax. McLaren will only build 399 of them, and they’re all sold out…

We’ve got the almighty Nissan GT-R NISMO going up against… A GR Yaris?!

This is the Polestar 3!
We've waited four years for Polestar to release the successor to the Polestar 2, and what Mat has his hands on today is an SUV that has the likes of the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron & Mercedes EQE SUV in its sights! But does it have what it takes to bring them down? Let's take a closer look!
In terms of the design, the Polestar 3 looks great! Up front there's no blanked out grille, with Polestar truly embrassing the fact that this is an EV from the ground-up. The sloping roofline also helps the car stand out on the road, and to be honest, we'd be hard-pressed to find a better looking all-electric SUV out there today!
When looking at the interior, it's worth remembering that Polestar still has close ties with Volvo, so the 3 has a lot in common with the EX90. But whereas the EX90 is a seven seater, this will remain as a five seater only, so it means all passengers will have masses of room! There's also a large infotainment screen in the centre of the dash (which runs Google's operating system), and there's a set of digital dials ofr the driver. The cabin is also filled with soft touch materials, and all-in-all is a nice place to be.
All editions of the Polestar 3 come equipped with a massive 111kWh battery, and there are single and dual motor models available. The single-motor edition can produce 299hp, and costs around £70,000. There are two editions of the dual motor car - one that can produce 489hp and costs around £76,000, while the range-topping Performance Pack produces 517hp and costs around £82,000.

It sends it power to all four wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, weighs 1546kg and would have cost around £31,000 when new.
The Mk5 was the last generation of golf R to have the mighty 3.2l naturally aspirated VR6 engine. In this car it makes 250hp and 320nm of torque. Power goes to all four wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It weighs 1510kg and would have cost £24,000 when new.
Then finally we come to the original Golf R. This car has a 3.2l naturally aspirated VR6 engine. It makes 241hp and 320nm of torque. That power goes to all four wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The car weighs 1477kg and would have cost just over £22,000 when it was new all the way back in 2002!

You'll often see Mat driving any number of luxurious and high-end cars on this channel, but have you ever asked yourself - what do the Carwow camera crew drive?
Well wonder no more! This is the Carwow Van Haven van, and if anything, we think it might be better and more luxurious than some of the cars we show off on this channel! So let's take a closer look at it...
The van started life as a VW Transporter. However, the Van Haven team have gone to town on it, ripping out almost all elements of the interior and allowing the Carwow crew to spec it as they wished. As a result, the cabin is now fitted with super-comfortable brown leather seats in the front and rear, and there's even a set of retractable tables in the rear to help with working on the go!
But that's not all! The van is chocked full of power points, which allows the team to have a coffee machine on the go at any hour of day on a shoot, and there's even a built in fridge! Can an electric car be fun to drive on track? Well to find out, we've got our hands on one of the most exciting EVs around, the Hyundaio IONIQ 5 N, and we're going to compare it around Silverstone against a BMW M2 Competition!
So let's see how the two compare. Starting with the Hyundai, it’s powered by two electric motors which combine to produce 650hp and 770Nm of torque. Due to the two motors, it has four-wheel drive, and it weighs in at 2,235kg. As new, an IONIQ 5 N costs around £65,000.
Then we come to the BMW. It comes with the same 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six as found in the latest M3, but the output has been dialled down slightly, so it’ll produce 460hp and 550Nm of torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheels only, and it tips the scales at 1,725kg. If you’re looking to buy one new, it’ll set you back around £65,000.

It's time for an incredible car vs bike drag race!
We've got Mat in the all-new Audi rs e-tron GT Performance, and it's about to go head-to-head against the amazing all-new Ducati Panigale V4S!
So let's see how the two compare. Starting with the Audi, it's the most powerful Audi road car ever produced! It comes equipped with two electric motors, which combine to produce 925hp (when in launch control mode) and 1,027Nm. Being electric it's pretty heavy, tipping the scales at 2395kg, and as new the car will set you back around £143,000.
The Ducati uses a 1.1-litre V4 engine that can produce 216hp and 121Nm of torque. It's also equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and it comes in with a tiny (dry) weight of just 187kg. A new one of these has a price tag just shy of £30,000.
So we know the Audi will be super quick off the mark, but will the Ducati be able to catch it over the quarter-mile? There's only one way to find out for sure... This is the new MINI Countryman!
It’s the largest MINI you can buy, and Mat’s about to see if this SUV-like MINI can compete with other crossovers such as the Audi Q2 or BMW X1!
For starters, let’s check out the design. This car is distinctly a MINI from whatever angle you look at it. From the front, the car looks much more modern compared to the previous edition, and with the JCW edition we have here, there are a couple of chequered flag motifs as well as several JCW badges. Along the side alloy wheels go up to 20-inches, and being a MINI there’s lots of customisation available, such as the option to go for two-tone paint. At the back, nothing notably stands out, although this JCW edition does come with an integrated spoiler and quad tailpipes!
On the inside, the revised Countryman interior is seriously nice. The main feature is a new large circular infotainment screen in the centre of the dash, which is super bright and colourful. Unfortunately, though, the system can be a little bit laggy. There are a few physical buttons and toggle switches set underneath the screen, although most functionality is managed through the touchscreen. Fabric materials adorn the doors and dash, while there’s also a small heads-up display available.
There are several different engines available. The range starts with a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol that can deliver 170hp and comes with front-wheel drive. There’s also a 2-litre turbo petrol, which in the S delivers 218hp, and in the JCW puts down 300hp. Both these editions come with all-wheel drive. There are also two electric editions to choose from. The single motor can put down 201hp, while the dual motor edition delivers 302hp.
The Countryman range starts from around £30,000, rising to around £45,000 for the JCW edition. But is it worth it? Stick with Mat to see for yourself!

Then finally we come to the newest car, the Mk 8.5 GTI. It also packs a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo, producing 265hp and 370Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch, and it’s the lightest car here, tipping the scales at 1,454kg. Surprisingly, it’s a bit more expensive than the R, costing around £39,000!
So the Mk8.5 GTI is the newest car, but surely it doesn’t have what it takes to bring down the Clubsport or R, right? It’s time for a Britain vs Italy showdown!
We’ve got Mat in the McLaren 750S, and he’s going head-to-head against Yianni in his Lamborghini Revuelto! The question is, can the RWD McLaren really take down the 4WD Lambo? Let’s take a closer look…
Starting with the McLaren, it’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can produce 750hp and 800Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,389kg. As new, a 750S will set you back around £254,000.
Then we have the Lambo. It’s powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 and three electric motors. Combined they can put down 1,015hp and 1,062Nm, and this power is sent to all four wheels. The car tips the scales at just under 2 tonnes, and as new it’s a whole lot more expensive than the McLaren, costing around £447,000.

Can the all-new Audi S3 beat a tuned Cupra Formentor?
We’ve brought the two of them together to face off over the quarter-mile! So let’s see how the two compare.
Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo that can create 333hp and 420Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,610kg. As new, the car costs around £45,000.
Alongside the Audi is the Cupra. It’s been tuned by ABT, and before the tune, its 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo would produce 310hp and 400Nm. However, due to ABT’s handiwork, the Formentor now produces 370hp and 450Nm! Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the car weighs 1,616kg. With all the work done, this car costs around £61,000.
So the Cupra may be up on power, but will the newer Audi snatch an unlikely win? The Volkswagen Golf has been updated!
VW has released a mid-life facelift for its world-famous hatchback, and Mat’s got his hands on one to see just what’s new on this Mk 8.5 edition.
In terms of the design, it’s all pretty similar to the Mk 8! Up top the DRLs have been updated and the option to fit a full-length light bar, while the lower bumper has also been tweaked. But apart from that, it’s all pretty similar to the previous edition. Along the side, there’s a selection of new alloy wheel designs to choose from, while at the back the taillights have been updated, as have the lower bumper. Thankfully though, VW has finally done away with fake exhaust tips!
On the inside, there are a few changes over the previous edition, with the main one being the large infotainment screen which comes as standard in all cars! The system has also been updated and is a bit less laggy than before. The digital dial screen has been revised, and thankfully the touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel have been swapped with physical buttons! Ultimately the Golf is quite a nice place to sit - most of the cabin is fitted with quality materials, and the seats are pretty comfortable, too.
Regarding the engines, the Golf range starts with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol that can put down 115hp or 150hp. There’s also the option for a 2-litre turbo diesel, which also delivers either 115hp or 150hp. Both cars come with a manual gearbox as standard, but automatics are available, too. There’s also a plug-in hybrid available, which uses the 1.5-litre petrol coupled with an electric motor to deliver either 204hp or 272hp.
The range starts from £27,000, rising all the way up to £37,000 (excluding the GTI or R, of course). So is it still the class leader? Or should you choose something like an A3 instead? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!
