When Hogwarts Legacy was first announced, I naturally had my doubts. But it was hard for me NOT to be excited about Hogwarts Legacy, since I really do like the Harry Potter series. The footage that has been gradually drip fed to us over the past couple of years, kept on stepping it up a gear, and it got to the point, where it looked too good to be true. But how did it turn out? And is it worth playing? Watch and find out! Also, what did you think of Hogwarts Legacy? Do you plan on picking it up in the future? Let me know in the comments below.

[PS5]Hell Fire RPGs2023-03-13 | Octopath Traveler 2 is finally here! That little JRPG that we loved so much in 2018, finally has a sequel! Now, I would definitely consider the original Octopath Traveller to be a ground-breaking JRPG, not only because it was the game that introduced the HD2D graphical style, but also because it really proved that people really want this sort of game. Playing Octopath 2 was a no brainer for me, but the question is, did it live up to my expectations? In many ways; yes, but in other ways; nope! Octopath 2 plays things very safe, and provides an almost identical experience to the original in the series.

I’ve been an avid gamer for a while now and have had countless amazing gaming experiences, spanning many decades, and many different consoles. Most of the time, when a journey ends, the characters I’ve spend dozens of hours with are never seen again, unless there’s a sequel to the game.
Occasionally, however, JRPGs like to include our favorite characters from completely different games and series. Today, we’re going to look into just that; The Japanese Role Playing Games where characters from other games make guest appearances.

In late 2022, I was busy with a load of other titles, and couldn’t see myself fitting it in. But that was when everybody on the planet wouldn’t stop talking about it, which lead to a serious case of FOMO. Yup, I was not about to miss out on this one, and I am so glad I didn’t, because Chained Echoes, was by far, the surprise packet of the year. Chained Echoes is inspired, and pays clear tribute to the games we loved in the past, such as Suikoden, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI and Xenogears. From the visuals to the combat, to the music, to the story beats, to the mechanics. It’s almost as if this game was specifically tailored to me. And yeah, I know that these titles I speak of, such as Eiyuden Chronicle, are not pure sequels, but instead spiritual successors. This means that they have the same core development team, and will contain many of the mechanics that we have come to love, from the original series.
The most recent revival is the double Kickstarter campaign for Armed Fantasia, which will be a spiritual successor to the much loved Wild Arms series, and Penny Blood, a spiritual successor to Shadow Hearts.
This video is going to look into what I want to see in Penny Blood! We are just over the halfway point of the kickstart starter campaign, and while the initial goal was funded in no time at all, there are still loads of achievable stretch goals that will make the game even better! This series started out as a tabletop RPG in 1991 as part of the World of Darkness setting line. Nearly a decade later, the series was first adapted into the world of video games, with Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption being met with mixed reviews. But it wasn’t until 2004s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, that I was first introduced to the series. It was an absolute technical disaster, but despite this, it had a lot going for it, and I’ve been a fan even since. The dark, mature atmosphere, and the vampire politics drew me in, and I’ve been longing for a similar experience ever since.
Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong, is not the game that was going to quench my thirst for more blood, but it did at least scratch an itch. Swansong is a different beast all together. Where Bloodlines is all about roaming the city at night, feeding on the unsuspecting, and destroying everything that stands in your way, Swansong, is more about learning about the rich world, solving puzzles, and uncovering a local mystery.
Is it worth playing? Watch this review and find out!

Looking in from a distance, there isn’t too much here that align with my tastes. Between the childish, cutesy characters, and the odd sounding name, which translates The Country of Two: The Wrath of the White Witch, I would have quite easy passed on this way back in, 2013. But, you know, the general hype that this game received made it pretty hard to ignore. This is largely due to the collaboration with Studio Ghibli; the guys who made Princess Mononoki, Spirited away and all those other masterpieces. It really didn’t take me long to see that the quality of their films carried over to this game. Ni No Kuni did not spare any expense. It is a beautiful, huge game and one of the best JRPGs released in in the 2010s. Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a taster. It’s that tasty appetizer that you’re given before the best five course meal you’ve ever consumed in your life…. hopefully. It is not an expansive JRPG experience, full of hundreds of memorable characters, deep lore and an unforgettable story. It is instead, hopefully setting us up, for just that. Rising is like a pre-side quest to next years; Hundred Heroes.

But what it lack in its title, it makes up for in what really matters; being a good video game. Developed by Square Enix, Triangle Strategy is a SRPG with a combat system like FF Tactics, a story like Game of Thrones, and an art style like Octopath Traveler. Three awesome pieces of media, how can you go wrong, right? Triangle Strategy tells an engaging political story and has a great strategic combat system, presented with all that nostagiaey goodness. So if you’re a fan of the SRPG genre, this is definitely a title worth playing.

Let’s start with Star Ocean 1: First Departure R, released for the PS4 and Switch, in 2019. Now, Star ocean is a very long running RPG series, running for over 25 years, but the best part is, it’s still going, with 'Star Ocean: The Divine Force' set for release later this year. So what’s new with First Departure R? We have new character art for their portraits, an option for Japanese voice acting, and some changes to the difficulty, but for the most part, it’s the same experience as First Departure on the PSP. I’m looking forward diving into this series once again, and particularly playing the later titles that I haven’t play before. Let’s get into it!

Being the massive Souls fan that I am, I would buy any Soulsy title that these developers pump out, no questions asked. But then the announcement for Elden Ring came. We were getting an open world style Souls game, with worldbuilding by Georg R.R. Martin. And that was it. That’s all it took to make Elden Ring my most anticipated game of the year. And I’m not the only one. Yes, it’s a masterpiece. Yes, it will probably win GOTY, and yes, you should buy it….. Unless you’re not a fan of the genre. Watch this review to find out why!

This German developer is well known for the Risen and Gothic series, with some of these titles being met with critical acclaim. It seems that Piranha Bytes took some of the problems of Elex 1 to heart, as many of these issues have been ironed out. While certainly not perfect, I was surprised addictive Elex 2 was. So what makes ELEX 2 so great and where does it fall short? Hopefully this review will answer all of your questions.

I was hooked. Seeing my favorite TV show in game form was absolutely mind blowing. This game was revolutionary, and the start of one of video game history's most successful franchises. Since then, nothing has really changed, but after 30 years, the evolution that I’ve been craving, has finally happened. Pokemon Legends: Arceus finally changes up the formula, and has reignited my love for the series. Catching Pokémon has never been such an addictive experience, and this is one JRPG you should definitely look out for.

#Pokemon #Arceus #JRPGFinal Fantasy 5 - Review [Pixel Remaster]Hell Fire RPGs2022-02-05 | Final Fantasy V! Also Known as the FF that gets no love! And why is that? Probably because it wasn’t released in the US until 1999. This is a shame, because FFV is awesome and if you ask me, horribly underrated.
While these remastered additions are great, it’s FF5s Job system that is still the life of the party, even 30 years later. This, and the fact that the whole FF5 experience is a lot of fun, makes this title a must play JRPG, if you’re into the classics.
What is your experience with FF5? Which version did you first play? Let me know in the comments.

Since 1987, there’s been 18 releases, and re-releases of the main series, and even more spinoff series including Persona, Devil Survivor and Digital Devil Saga. The latest in this massive series is Shin Megami Tensei V, released as a Switch exclusive in late 2021. If you’re new to the series, then SMTV is a great place to start, as there’s no requirements to have played any of the previous games, plus, it’s bloody addictive! The fourth game in the series, originally titled FF2 in the US, was first released in 1991, and since then, has received loads of different versions, and even a complete remake for the DS in 2007. At the time of its release FF4 was met with critical acclaim, with its revolutionary Active Time Battle (ATB) mechanics, and storytelling being the stand out features. I can highly recommend playing FF4 if you want to go back and get a taste of Final Fantasy history, and this Pixel Remaster is a great way to do so.

Final Fantasy II was released from the NES in 1988, only a year after the original, and although it received some decent reviews in Japan at the time, it is now widely considered as the weakest in the series.
Final Fantasy 2 did quite a few things differently, but with this, came a fair share of problems. Problems that will drive you insane. However, I also know that there are many people out there who are interested in seeing how this series started, for better or for worse, and it’s to those people that I say: This is NEARLY the perfect way to experience FF2.

#FinalFantasy #pixelremaster #FFIIThings I HATE about RPGsHell Fire RPGs2021-12-03 | I’ve spent nearly my entire life loving RPGs. I’ve done this because of the incredible storytelling, memorable characters, immersive soundtracks and addictive combat systems. And the feeling of just exploring an entire world and interacting with everything is something that other genres just don’t do quite as well!
There is a lot to love about the genre that has taken away many, many hours of life, but the fact is, most RPGs aren’t perfect. This video is going to look into the things that separate the titles that I love, from the more forgettable ones. These are the things that I HATE about RPGs.
#JRPG #Bad #HaFinal Fantasy 1 - Review [Pixel Remaster]Hell Fire RPGs2021-11-26 | The Final Fantasy series has come a long way over the past 35 years, but the same can be said about Final Fantasy 1. This release provides the traditional FF1 experience, with a fresh coat of paint, which is important, since the outdated presentation and brutal mechanics of the original isn’t something too many modern games would choose to play. This latest series of Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are just the perfect way to experience these classics, from arguably the most important JRPG series of all time. If you’ve ever wondered how it all started, then the Final Fantasy 1 PR is the best way to play this class JRPG.

#FinalFantasy #pixelremaster #FF1Tales of Arise - Review [Best Tales Game Ever?]Hell Fire RPGs2021-09-08 | How has it been nearly 5 whole years since the last Tales title, Berseria? That's far too long for a series that is easily up there as one of my favorite JRPG series of all time. This series is the gift that keeps on giving, which is why I have been so excited to get my hands on Tales of Arise!
Developed by Bandai Namco, Arise was designed with the aim to evolve the Tales franchise formula, and this evolution is clear, most notably in the visual style. But the visuals aren’t the only thing that has evolved. Tales of Arise does quite a few things differently, for the better, while still feeling like a Tales game should.
So, how does Tales of Arise compare to the rest? Was it worth the wait? Watch this review to find out!
